All the software systems store the business data in a data store, so that it is recorded and can be referred at any time. The business data store has all the data that is essential for the business. Each of the software system will have data specific to the kind of business it is designed to serve. Magic Report allows you to run the reports against this information and derive the intelligence that is required to make sound business decisions. With Reporter Studio, a standard database panel is provided to the user to create the report. This is independent of the database the user is working on. The designer part of the product gives you full flexibility in deciding the input and design of your report. The output of the report designer is a standard jasper xml and is in a human readable format. Thus the generation of this xml can also be automated. Report designed by the designer can be published to the Magic Report server. Magic Report supports almost any relational database. It also supports unstructured data that can be harnessed using Hadoop /Cassandra drivers. It provides an extensible way if any of the database is not supported. This flexibility makes the product suitable to any of the business scenario whether small, medium or large. To login into the system the use have the credentials for the same. This can be done by the administrator of the console. USER MANAGEMENT The user management module is used to maintain the users in the system. It allows the administrator to choose what sort of access the user has. The administrator can create a role template that can be applied to various users so that all of them have the same access. Also if the role template associated with a group of user’s changes, then all of them will see the change in their access. Magic Report allows for creating users and later authenticating them. All the user related information can be collected in the user screen so that it can used later on. For example the user email must be entered so that the user can receive the reports as email. The user also has a password and will be associated to a role. UPLOAD DRIVER The report can be created run against twelve plus relational databases. Each of these databases will have a specific driver that is associated with them. This driver must first be uploaded into Magic Report. This can be done using the driver upload screen. Maxima Magic Report Page 4 [MAXIMA CONSULTING INC.] March 26, 2013 The driver upload allows the user to upload drivers for same databases but with different versions thus allowing connecting to older versions of the databases as well. DATA SOURCE DETAILS The user next has to configure the database against which the report has to run within Magic Report. This can be done using the data source configuration screen. Using this screen the user has to provide the technical details such that the database can be uniquely identified. Also the user credentials to connect the database have to be entered here. All these parameters can be tested using the test connection button. Maxima Magic Report Page 5 [MAXIMA CONSULTING INC.] March 26, 2013 UPLOAD REPORT The report can either be published from inside the report creator or it can be uploaded manually. To upload manually the user just has to upload a report with a unique name. Once a report is uploaded it’s time to generate the report and view it. Magic Report supports two types of report generation manual and scheduled. SCHEDULE REPORT The scheduled report is delivered into the mail box at a scheduled time. The schedule has to be defined at which time the report must get generated. This can be done using the schedule screen. The schedules are of various kinds daily, weekly and monthly. One of the applications o schedules is to generate the end of the month and end of day reports automatically. Once the schedule is defined now it’s time to link all the parameters and set up the report generation. GENERATE REPORT To view the report the user must navigate to the report generation screen and select a particular report. Once the report is generated the download link will appear which can be used to download the report from the screen. This is online report generation. Maxima Magic Report Page 8 [MAXIMA CONSULTING INC.] March 26, 2013 If a report generation was scheduled you shall see the report in your mail box and there is no need to login into the system to view the report. Magic Report can be easily integrated with any of the system. There is no platform/language barrier as it exposes all of its operations as standard REST services which be used by any platform. For example report generation can be triggered externally from any system and multiple systems can use the same Magic Report setup at a given time. This will allow all the reporting to be centralized to one system. Maxima Magic Report Page 9
