Bamboo the heart of our skis
Bamboo is one of the oldest building
materials on earth. The history of its
development probably began with the
history of human development and is
by no means concluded. In its original
form bamboo displays an extremely
high degree of tensile strength. No
other natural material is harder, more
flexible or more robust. Bamboo’s
fibre length (up to 10mm compared to
only about 2mm fibre length of wood)
is ideally suited for use in the manufacture of skis. Due to bamboo’s inherent high-tech properties, glass fibre
and adhesives can be saved on and
the perfect, long-lasting flex behaviour of our ski products guaranteed.
Bamboo grass has the particular
technical characteristic that it undergoes a permanent deformation upon
thermal pressing while maintaining
its highly elastic characteristics. This
phenomenon has an enduring positive
influence on the long-term stability of
the camber in ski construction.
