map 2 - Art in Action
2016 W elcome to Art in Action 2016 The layout has changed this year so look closely at the map. Don’t miss Sculpture which is now in the Walled Garden. New this year is the pixilated world of the Digital Art Tent. There is an unmissable exhibition of photos in the house celebrating forty years of Art in Action since the show started in 1977. You can get interactive with The Art Academy’s ‘Curiouser and Curiouser’ or indulge in Zen brushwork by the river whilst drinking green tea and listening to the Shakuhachi flute. Our guest speakers this year are all stars: Andrew Brewerton, Jekka McVicar, Lady Lucinda Lambton and the TV ceramicists Keith Brymer Jones and Kate Malone. There is too much more to mention fully: music, dancing, acting, storytelling and all the demonstrations of the visual arts and crafts. Do not forget the practical classes which must be booked early to avoid disappointment. Good luck fitting it all in! Take a little time to flick through this excellent programme and then go and discover art in action for yourself. Rather than having a designated marquee as in previous years, awards will be made to demonstrators in their own marquees for the best stand and best demonstration. This is to celebrate and encourage Art in Action’s unique appeal as a demonstration event. The ‘Best Stand’ awards will be decided by each demonstrator voting for the best stand in their section. The ‘Best Demonstration’ award will be decided by a judging panel made up of the past organiser of Art in Action, past winners of the Best of the Best and guest lecturers. The judging will take place on the first day of the show.
