STREET THEATRE FESTIVAL WORKSHOP

An amazing opportunity to work intensively with Eden Court CREATIVE on building
and devising a fresh new innovative piece of street theatre.
During the first 3 days you will learn the basics of street theatre, then devise and
rehearse a new street theatre performance which you will take to the streets of
Inverness from the 13-15 October as part of the Inverness Street Theatre Festival.
No previous performance experience necessary. Costume and make-up will be
provided. You must be able to attend all three rehearsal days and all of the
performance days. Don't delay as places are limited and will go fast!

This Community Drumjam is a family friendly drum and percussion session for all ages
and abilities - whether you have experience or have never touched a drum before, all
are welcome. These facilitated sessions will explore community music making, through
hand drums and percussion and expressive rhythm. Drums and percussion will be
provided but you are also welcome to bring your own.

Now heading into its sixth year we are auditioning again for the Young Dance
Company. Applicants need to have commitment, motivation and enthusiasm
as well as previous dance experience in any style.
This year’s Company will be working with professional dancer and choreographer
Tony Mills (Room to Manoeuvre) to create a new piece for Destinations 2017.

Eden Court CREATIVE, in partnership with Fèisean nan Gàidheal, present a one day festival of
Gaelic Youth Theatre, featuring brand new pieces of Gaelic youth theatre performed by groups
from across Scotland.
Each year, the Gaelic Youth Theatre Festival chooses a theme and the youth theatres taking part
are tasked with devising a piece of theatre using the theme as their starting point. This year’s
theme is CHANGES.

Over 20 local groups of all ages from across the Highlands have been selected
to come and perform on the main stage in the Empire Theatre, Eden Court.
From Wick to Mallaig each group will be showing us the best of what's on offer,
from Highland to Hip-Hop, Ballet to Bollywood.
Every group has worked exceptionally hard to be the best that they can be.
Come along and cheer them on, and be inspired to Get Dancing!
JUST SING ROCK TAKE PART
ONETOUCH THEATRE I SUN 11 SEP I WORKSHOP: 15.00-17.00 I £10.00
A workshop for singers of all abilities. Just Sing Rock offers a fun alternative to the
traditional classical or community choir experience. Join in as part of a large, informal
group and sing familiar classics in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
No audition or previous experience required – you just have to be prepared to let
your hair down and sing your heart out. The afternoon workshop will culminate in
an evening performance with The JS Experience, a five piece band featuring some
of the most versatile and experienced musicians in the Highlands. Enjoy all the
fun of singing without the formalities.
No charge to current Just Sing participants for the workshop if they bring a friend!

Now in its 8th year, the Eden Court Young Company (ECYC) is an auditioned youth theatre that rehearses
on a project by project basis. The ECYC has performed at the National Theatre of Scotland Exchange Festival,
the National Festival of Youth Theatre and at Fort George with ‘A Century Untold’. We are auditioning on
Wednesday 7 September for a chance to take part in our National Theatre Connections Festival performance
in April 2017. Successful applicants must be able to rehearse from October – April (excluding holidays).

interaction and communication between
parent and baby and promote babies’ healthy
development. Baby Yoga expands the benefits

of breathing.
Simple post-natal yoga is included so please wear

poet and playwright Peter Whiteley. Bring a
notepad and pen, and enjoy a relaxing,

Ideal for beginners or those with a little drawing
experience. An opportunity to explore techniques
using pencil, pen and ink, charcoal and pastel
with tutor Deirdre McCrimmon. We will use the
landscape, portrait and still-life as subject matter
to explore line, tone, form and colour. Materials

These classes are open to young people and
adults both with and without additional needs,
who would like to explore a range of theatre arts:
dance, drama, improvisation and performance.
This fabulous new group is aimed at senior school
aged students with additional support needs. The
weekly classes are programmed during the school
day so that students can be accompanied by familiar
support staff, who will join them in the activities.

Hullabaloo is a creative arts group for children
with additional support needs. The group aims to
encourage imagination and confidence through
the use of games and creative play, and helps
children to develop their social skills in a safe and
supportive environment.

A group for people who enjoy poetry and
would like to discover more poems through the
choices of other members. Each month we will have
a theme and each person will bring along 2 or 3
poems of their choice. These can be any poems
relating to the topic. They might be personal
favourites, sourced from the internet, or found in a
poetry book - simply poems that members would
like to share. Or if you prefer just come along
to listen.

This exciting and innovative playwriting group is
self-run fortnightly. Members will undertake
stimulating writing exercises, gain feedback from
each other on their scripts, work-in-progress and
ideas, and draw on the expertise of occasional
established stage, screen and radio practitioners.
There is a monthly Scratch night where work is
read by actors to an invited audience.

Our Box Office is located in the theatre foyer
and is open MONDAY to SATURDAY from
10.00 and on SUNDAYS from 11.00. The Box
Office closes 15 minutes after the beginning
of each day’s final performance.
You can book your tickets in person, by

To make it easier to book, we have given each
class or event a number. Make sure you book
the ticket you want for the class you want by
giving our staff the number when booking.
Friends discount
If you become an Eden Court Friend then you’ll receive a
discount off regular classes (£1.00 for adults and 50p for
children). For further information ask a member of the
Box Office staff.
Student discount
If you’re currently a student at university or college
you’ll receive a £1.00 discount off all our adult classes.
For further information ask a member of the Box Office

Bursary Scheme
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get
creative! Eden Court’s bursary scheme helps people
on low incomes attend classes for half price (or try
a one-off event for free). To qualify you must be in
receipt of any of the following benefits: Job Seekers
Allowance (income based), Income Support, Universal
Credit, Disability Allowance, or Attendance Allowance.

If your evidence is dated indefinitely or covers more
than one term you will only need to apply once a year.
Please note that Bursary Applications must be received
at least ONE WEEK BEFORE THE START OF TERM.
Registration
For the first week of the term, please arrive 15
minutes early to allow time for the tutor to make a
note of all the attendees’ names and contact details.
Additional Support Needs
Please note that parents/guardians must give details
of any additional support/learning assistance
your child may receive in school to the class tutor.
Participants with additional support needs will need
to attend classes with a support worker.
Important information for under 18’s
All under 18’s attending classes will require a signed
permission slip from a parent or guardian. PARENTS
MUST ATTEND THE START OF THE FIRST SESSION in
order to sign the form.
Reservations
Reservations can be made in person or over the phone
for any Eden Court class. Reserved spaces will be held
for 3 working days, after which time they will be
released for sale. Please note that we do NOT accept
reservations for events less than 7 days away.
Refunds and exchanges
If you try the first class of a course and find it unsuitable,
please contact Box Office immediately. We will try to
transfer you to a different class (subject to availability) or
offer you a credit voucher for the remaining classes. Please
note refunds are not given for missed classes and will only
be issued if a class has been cancelled by Eden Court.
Changes & cancellations
All details are correct at the time of going to print.
Eden Court reserves the right to make changes to the
advertised programme, but will endeavour to make as
few as possible.
Term times
Most classes run for one eleven week term from
MON 22 AUG until FRI 18 NOV. Please make sure you
read the class dates carefully as these may vary.

Many courses are designed to be
attended as a block. With some you must sign up in week
one, but with others you can start later. Just look for the
‘Block Booking’ logo and give box office a call for more
information.
You’ll save £1.00 on every class if you Block Book, AND
guarantee your place on the course. Advance booking
is essential for most classes and helps to avoid
disappointment, as many courses fill up quickly.
When you see the ‘Drop In’ logo you can pick and choose
which classes you want to go to. You don’t have to commit
to a term all at once – perfect if you just want to give
something a try.
NB: Drop In classes can only be booked on the day,
and are subject to availability. Remember to arrive
in plenty of time as spaces fill up quickly.
