MISSION
To enrich the lives of seriously ill children and their
families by creating a life-enhancing camp experience
that is exciting, empowering, memorable, safe, and
medically sound, at no cost to them.
Welcome
Since we opened in 1996, over 53,000 children and family members have left footprints on the path of
Camp Boggy Creek. Last year, we served over 3,930 children and family members. This is an amazing
milestone and we would like to give thanks to the Board of Directors, dedicated staff, committed volunteers,
friends, supporters and campers.
In June 2011, Camp Boggy Creek was awarded a Major Challenge Grant by the Hole in the Wall Foundation.
This strategic fundraising development grant will allow us to substantially enhance our fundraising capabilities
and accordingly increase our ability to sustain our camp mission.
We are proud to announce Camp Boggy Creek was awarded with a Gold Ribbon Camp designation. The Gold
Ribbon Camp designation means that Camp Boggy Creek met the suggested guidelines and standards for
pediatric oncology member camps. Of 92 pediatric oncology camps that are members, Camp Boggy Creek
was one of only 17 camps who were awarded the Gold Ribbon Camp designation.
It is our pleasure to welcome Mr. Richard Lydecker to the Camp Boggy Creek Board of Directors. Richard, a
Senior Partner with Lydecker Diaz, is a longtime resident of Miami and community advocate. We are honored
to have Richard join our leadership team.

to do to ensure Florida’s seriously ill children and their
families have the opportunity to experience the magic

Welcome
Center
On Saturday, December 10, 2011, the official dedication
of the Camp Boggy Creek Welcome Center was held
following eight months of construction. Major project funding
was provided by The Martin Andersen-Gracia Andersen
Foundation, the Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George Charitable Trust,
along with capital gifts from Board member Lawrence F. De George and
his wife Suzanne, and Board members Hugh and Wendy Durden.
The Welcome Center is located at the entrance to the 232-acre
property, and in addition to being the first point of contact for arriving
campers and their families, it houses the Camp’s administrative,
fundraising, communications and accounting staff. The building also
includes a multi-media conference center for educational programs,
training sessions and conferences.
Under the leadership of Tom Warlow, Chair of the Construction
Committee, the design management of ABC Fine Wine & Spirits,
General Contractor R.D. Michaels and architects Lindemann, Bentzon,
Bojack Architects and Engineers along with a talented team of
designers and engineers, the $2 million, 14,000 square-foot building
was brought to life.
Board Chairman, Pat Cooper added, “The lead gift of $1 million by the
Andersen Foundation served as a catalyst for additional capital gifts
by our Board of Directors as well as a dedicated team of design and
construction professionals. The building reflects the quality of the

facilities found elsewhere on our property and reaffirms our long-term
commitment to serving seriously ill children from throughout Florida.”

Camp Boggy Creek receives many gifts in memory of loved ones who were touched
by the magic of our mission. Each year in October, the Camp hosts the Day of
Remembrance to celebrate the spirit of these endearing and heartfelt gifts and
the people for whom they were made in memory of. In 2011, over 300 names were
read during the event’s Remembrance Reading of Names. Many friends and family
members joined Camp staff and volunteers for this special tribute or, if not able
to attend, participated in a special moment of silence. For information about the
