Canadian Border Crossing
This represents a general step-by-step instruction and answers regarding the upcoming Canadian Border
crossing.
1.
SCAC
Each participating team is required to have one SCAC –Standard Carrier Alpha Code covering all
vehicles in their respective fleets. To obtain the SCAC go to the following website if your team has
a USDOT number (printed on the side of your transporter)

Inventory
Complete a typed list of items being transported into Canada. If you have more than one
transporter each transporter should have a separate inventory list. The inventory should include
the make, model, and VIN number for cars and the serial numbers of all items of significant value
including the truck and trailer. Make 5 copies of this list. In addition make one cover sheet that
lists a re-cap of your inventory. See page four for a sample of a generic manifest.
3.
E-Manifest and Trip Number
Everyone will need an E-manifest and Trip ID number for re-entry into the United States. There are
two ways to process an e-manifest. One is a free method and one is a service provided by a
service provider i.e. NGJensen. We, (SCCA Pro Racing) have contracted the services of Norman G
Jensen. David Faulk and Solomon Allen are our contacts and they will supply the e-manifest for

Ask for Option B. The cost is: $120 to set up the file and $9.00 per truck that crosses the border.
They will gather all the required data about driver, tractor, conveyance and trailer equipment. If
you have more than one transporter please provide NG Jensen information on the second truck
and driver as well. SCCA Pro Racing has posted the bond and we will charge a fee to come in
under our bond. In ’07 the fee was $125 per truck.
The Shipment Control Number (SCN) will be a unique number set up by the team with your team’s
SCAC number and a 6 digit code.
Example ABCD000001 and if you have a second truck ABCD0000002

For the free method: Go to www.cbp.gov/modernization, click on ACE Portal Application &
Program Participation, click on “Ace Application – print only. Complete the application per the
instructions and express mail to: US Customs and Border Protection, Attention: Beauregard
Building, Room A-314-3, 7681 Boston Blvd, Springfield, VA 22153 For questions call the ACE

US Customs Form 4455 (Also called certificate of registration)
Complete the Customs form 4455. This is for the US side. Before leaving the United States, you
must report to US Customs with the 4455 form and your complete inventory list. It must be
stamped by US Customs. Keep the stamped copy for re-entry to the US.
5a. Please use the attached Customs Form 4455 and add the following information:
The B/L or Insured Number box Write your - SCAC Code
Check the box for Use Abroad
Under List of Articles Exported List –Write “See Attached “- This will be your typed manifest of
transporter contents
Then list the following:
Responsible Party: SCCA Pro Racing
Date: Your return to the USA date
Port: The port of entry you plan to use
Race Team Name & Address
Shipment Control Number SCAC code 000001 (ExampleABCD000001)
Value of Goods
Note: If you have more than one transporter and or vehicle coming back to the US you will need
to issue each one a unique Shipment Control Number example ABCD000001, ABCD000002 Fill
out a 4455 Customs form for each truck/transporter. This information also needs to be
conveyed to NG Jensen.
5.
Manifest Express Fax Load Sheet
Complete the attached manifest Express Fax Load Sheet. In the box labeled “Please PAPS label
here” Please indicate the Shipment Control Number (SCN) identically to that indicated on the
Customs Form 4455.
This can all be faxed to NG Jensen a week in advance of our trip to Canada and provided you have
provided arrival time at the US border NG Jensen will email you the ACE Manifest number you
need for your truck to get back into the country. Make sure you tell Solomon and David you will
be entering under the SCCA Pro Racing Bond.
6.
Arriving at the US Border
When you arrive at the US Border, you must use a commercial lane.

Hand US Customs the Ace Manifest Cover Sheet ONLY. Customs will either provide instructions or
ask for additional paperwork.
Hand Customs the Customs Form 4455. Customs will provide instructions.
SCCA Pro Racing is paying for a continuous bond that will cover all of our race teams and their equipment
for our race in August at Mosport. NG Jensen will invoice us for all of the teams that come in under our
bond and we will invoice you.

Signing up and using Manifest Express and related documentation
accompanying this Agreement indicates your acceptance of this Agreement’s
terms and conditions. Read all of the terms and conditions of this agreement
prior to signup or usage of Manifest Express. If you do not accept these terms,
do not use Manifest Express.
By selecting the "I agree to the above terms and agreements" checkbox, your
organization and employees ("Licensee") are bound by the terms of this
Agreement. If Licensee does not agree to the terms of this Agreement, Licensee

Usage Agreement
Norman G. Jensen, Inc. hereby grants the Licensee non-exclusive use of
Manifest Express subject to the following terms:

2. Licensee may not: (a) rent, lease, sell, distribute, or otherwise transfer rights to

property rights in and to Manifest Express. Manifest Express is protected by
copyright law of the state of Minnesota and international copyright treaties.
Disclaimer
Manifest Express is provided on an "AS IS" basis without warranty of any kind.
To the extent permitted by law, Norman G. Jensen, Inc. disclaims all warranties
without limitation, including but not limited to any implied warranties of
merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The entire
risk arising out of the use of Manifest Express remains with the Licensee. To the
extent permitted by law, Norman G. Jensen, Inc. shall in no event be liable for
any consequential, incidental, indirect, special, or any other damages whatsoever

Termination
Norman G. Jensen, Inc. may terminate this Agreement immediately should it
decide to no longer support or update the Manifest Express. This Agreement
shall terminate automatically if Licensee fails to comply with its terms and
conditions and Norman G. Jensen, Inc. shall have no further obligation to
Licensee. No notice shall be required from Norman G. Jensen, Inc. to effectuate
termination for breach of the terms and conditions.
Applicable Law
Minnesota law shall govern all rights and obligations under this Software License
Agreement.
Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the complete and exclusive agreement between
Norman G. Jensen, Inc. and Licensee with respect to the subject matter hereof
and supersedes all prior oral or written understandings, communications, or
agreements not specifically incorporated herein. This Agreement may not be
modified except in writing duly signed by an authorized representative of Norman
G. Jensen, Inc. and Licensee.
