Welcome
Wales has a well established automotive sector with over 150 companies
employing more than 15,000 workers generating a turnover of £3bn annually.
Major international players are no strangers to these shores with Toyota, Ford,
Calsonic Kansei, Toyoda Gosei and Gestamp Tallent being just some of the
companies who have invested here.
In addition, Wales is also looking to the future with academia, business and
government working together to develop low carbon alternative fuels, with
Wales having been recognised as the UK Low Carbon Economic Area for
Alternative Fuels from Renewable Sources.
This directory provides an insight into this cluster with company capability
information and contact details. If you are looking for a new supplier for your

This directory has been produced in conjunction with the Welsh Automotive
Forum. The Forum represents component suppliers; showcases its member’s
products and abilities at international events; and campaigns / lobbies on their
behalf on local, national and international platforms. In addition it works with
the UK Automotive Council to further to the business goals of members.
Wales has a long standing history for motorsport excellence; from the early
days of speed record attempts on Pendine Sands, through to the modern, high
tech world of the Wales Rally GB, Wales has always punched above its weight in
the international motorsport arena.
The British round of the World Rally Championship has been hosted exclusively
by Wales since 2000. In 2003 the Welsh Government became the title sponsor
and the rally has been known as the Wales Rally GB ever since. As a major
sporting event, it has helped raise Wales’ international profile, attracting a
worldwide TV audience and bringing in visitors from across the globe.
Motorsport taking place within Wales is only half the story however,
and throughout the country, in towns and valleys, nestled in industrial
estates and enterprise parks are motorsport suppliers at the very top of their
game. From high end engineering through to merchandising and clothing, and
racing circuits through to parts suppliers, Wales has a wealth of world class
motorsport companies.

we are often known as, specialises primarily in the Hi torque
engines found in cross county and off road competition
vehicles and Land Rover applications. ACR produces reliable
and competitive engines from club level through to Dakar
team entrants both locally and internationally. We rebuild,
manufacture and test engines and power trains in-house
and have a fully equipped machine shop with CNC machine
tools, along with engine build and dynamometer test
facilities. ACR’s product line includes the Power Plus tuning
parts for Classic Land Rovers, Wildcat Engineering racing
cylinder heads for Rover V8 engines, automatic transmission
controllers for the standalone use of modern electronic
gearboxes, and a range of remanufactured engines for Land
Rover vehicles, which are often produced on batch basis for
military, agency and motor trade clients worldwide.

Formula Student
Formula Student is Europe’s most established educational motorsport
competition, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Universities from across the globe are challenged to design and build a
single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and dynamic events,
which demonstrate their understanding and test the performance of the
vehicle.
Welsh Universities including Cardiff University, Swansea University,
Swansea Metropolitan University and Glyndwr University have all
taken part.
The competition provides the universities with the opportunity to give
students a real life engineering challenge, and is playing a vital part in
developing the Welsh motorsport engineers of the future.
