T
One World Week
hank you to all staff, pupils and families for their contributions this week.
We had had some excellent, “heritage” presentations. Two presentations
from each class will be chosen to be shared in assembly and filmed for the
showcase section on our website.
The children looked great today in their “cultural costumes”.
Year 2 shared some excellent poems, songs and plays with us today, all of which
promoted cultural understanding, racial harmony, tolerance and good all round humanity. Mr Swaby will be producing a DVD for sale.
I am looking forward to our One World Fiesta tonight after school where I am sure
there will be lots of great food from around the world that you have all sent in for us
to share. I am also looking forward to hearing our newly formed choir (sponsored
by the PTFA).
I hope that you have managed to share some events from our One World Week and
join with us in celebrating diversity and feeling confident and positive about recognising and celebrating the things about each other that are the same and the things
that are different.
As you all know, we have a theme of celebrating Diversity for the whole of this year
and this thread will weave through all that we do.

Which classes earned extra rewards
for great behaviour last week?
KS1
Every day the children in each class have to act together as a team as well as get their stamp individually for good Cypress behaviour. When the class
behave well as a group, they earn a daily tick. Ticks
are awarded each day for assembly, play time and
lunch time.
If a class gets all 5 days for good assembly behaviour they earn 5 minutes reward time, the same for
playtime and again for lunch time. If they get all 5
ticks for all 3 aspects of school behaviour, that’s 15
minutes, they get a bonus 5! This is called a Full
House. Then then get 20 minutes earned reward
time. As a class, they can decide whether to add this
to golden time on a Friday afternoon or to a playtime.
In KS1, the classes who earned Full
Houses last week were:
KS2
Children earn points at KS2. They earn points
each day individually when they get their
stamp and, in addition to this, points are
earned as a class. Points are awarded to the
class when all the class have their PE kits,
arrive on time, are in school, have completed
their homework, have good behaviour at playtime, have good behaviour at lunchtime and
behave appropriately in assembly. 3 points
are awarded each time this happens for each
aspect. Points can also be awarded by any
member of staff for good behaviour, effort or
achievement as a class too at anytime. All
points earned go onto a weekly class chart
and are totalled for that week. The winning
class in each year group is read out in Monday’s assembly. This class earns 15 minutes
reward time. As a class, they can then decide
whether to add this to golden time or to playtime.
In KS2, the classes who earned the most
points in each year group last week
were:
