Lead Screws
The lead screw is the key to the clamping action of the vise.
All Palmgren products employ high-quality steel screws designed
specificallyfor the size and use of the vise. FineV-thread lead
screws are used on all smaller vises to enable precise movement
while still maintaining overall strength. Acme style threads are
used in our larger vises. Acme threads provide tremendous
strength and rapid movement to cover wider jaw openings.

From Palmgren's point of view,your work is much more important than
the jaw plate. That is why our jaw plates are made of cold-rolled steel and
are replaceable on all but a few of our models. Our smooth jaws are
machined to allow maximum flexibilityin holding material of different
configurations. Grooved jaws employ a vertical and horizontal "t" pattern
to allow holding cylindrical pieces either perpendicular or parallel to the
vise. Knurled jaws use a fine cross hatch pattern for firmly gripping a piece
in any position. And on our larger vises, we chamfer the fixed jaw plate to
relieve stress on the vise body. We also offer hardened steel jaw plates for
many of our vises as an option.
Castings
A vise is really only as good as the casting it comes from.
Palmgren selects its foundries for their ability to provide
consistent, fine-grade grey iron product to us. We take special
care to make sure each casting is even, without hard spots or
pits, that could shorten the life of the vise.
Models 120 and 320
Handy, general-purpose vises every shop
needs. Recommended for use on drill presses,
millingmachines, grinders and other machine
tools where secure mounting is essential.

When a simple vertical angle is not enough. the Palmgren compound angle vises can provide
a set up in any position. With both Models 45V and 55. you get a 3600 swivel base. 0 and 900
vertically.plus something more. This combination of movements makes it possible to set up
at practically any angle. and then quickly change to another combination. When lowered into
the horizontal position. both compound vises can also be used as a traditional drill press vise.

Attachments
With the Palmgren Lathe MillingAttachment, you can
adapt your lathe to mill,slot, grind, groove, dovetail,
square, angle cut, recess and more. Simply mount
the attachment to the tool post and the cutting tool
in the lathe's chuck. It has 3600 graduation for
rotary angle adjustments and a graduated feed screw.
Fits most major lathes with a single tool post. The
2S0V is recommended for 8 to 10" lathes and the
400V for 12 to 16". For smaller lathes, the 2S0V will
fit if there is sufficient vertical clearance.

Palmgren rotary tables are used for applications which require precise, indexed placement.
Bolted to a drill press, millingmachine, grinder or other machine, these tables increase your
ability to mill,route, shape, cut slots or keyways,surface and grind. Also may be used in other

We have made a number of changes from the last
catalog to which we would like to draw your attention. First, we have added a new line of products,
our International Quality Line. We created this line
in response to customer demand for a wider range
of Palmgren-approved machine tool accessories.
Our International Quality Line represents guaranteed
quality and value when choosing an imported product.
Of course, we still continue to be one of the leading
U.S. manufacturers of machine tool accessories. Be
assured that every product marked with a "Made
in USA" icon next to the specification table is
manufactured here in Illinois. Likewise, there is an
icon for our International Quality Line indicating
our imported products.
We have also consolidated the number of models
offered in some categories. We did this to make it
easier to choose exactly which Palmgren product
fits the job. For example, we combined our Models
5 and 6 together into a new Model 6 featuring both
a grooved and smooth jaw plate. We trust familiar
customers will find the equivalent for what they have
always ordered, and new customers will find what
they need.
