• Items and packages in this Silent Auction Catalog are subject to change. Images are provided as a courtesy to our guests
only and are not necessarily an accurate depiction of the quality of a given item. The National Museum does not assume
responsibility for the accuracy of any description.
• Unless otherwise stated, all items and services are valid through April 12, 2015. All services must be redeemed by the
listed expiration date. The National Museum and the donor cannot extend the expiration date of any service.
• Read all auction package descriptions carefully as they list specific restrictions. Please be aware. If you would like to
extend your stay, you must coordinate with the donor directly. Auction Coordinators do not make travel arrangements.
• All items are sold “as is”, are subject to availability, and have no cash redemption value. The National Museum is grateful
to our donors, but is unable to endorse any product or service.
• The stated value of auction goods and services are good-faith estimates only and are not warranted for tax purposes.
Please contact your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of purchases and contributions. Any amount over the
stated market value of an item may be tax deductible.
• The National Museum is not responsible for lost or stolen certificates/vouchers.
• The National Museum assumes no responsibility should any of the donating establishments be unable to fulfill gift

• How to Participate in the Silent Auction
• The silent auction will begin promptly at 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
• Guests are assigned a Bid Number to use during the silent auction. Your Bid Number will be given to you at the
Registration Table.
• A Bid Sheet is displayed with each auction package and includes the package title, value, minimum opening bid amount,
and bid increment. You may bid on as many items as you wish.
• To bid on a package, simply write your Bid Number, Name and Bid Amount on the appropriate Bid Sheet.
• Each Bid Sheet lists a Bid Increment, which is the minimum value by which the existing bid must be increased in order to
constitute a higher value bid. All bids must be in even dollar amounts. Bids below opening minimum bids will be
increased appropriately.
•
The auction will begin closing at approximately 6:45 p.m. Serious bidders should stand next to auction bid sheets until an
Auction Coordinator picks up the bid sheet. Not all bid sheets are picked up at the EXACT closing time. An Auction
Official will certify the closing bids, and the highest valid bid will be declared the winner.
•
In the event of a contested item, the last two individuals appearing on the bid sheet will participate in a sealed “bid off.”
This “bid off” will be in written form and be administered by an Auction Official.
•
Winners will be notified at their tables throughout the evening.
Payment & Pick Up
• Auction Coordinators will bring invoices to the winning bidders at their tables.
• State and local retail sales tax will be included in the final bid amount. Any other applicable taxes, licensing fees or other
consumer-related charges on any item are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder.
• All items must be paid for and picked up by the end of the evening.
• Payments may be made with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.Items and certificates
purchased at this auction were donated specifically to support educational programs at the National Museum and are

Beautiful citrus, pear and white flower aromas with a hint of flint and spice - a stone wall greets the flowers
growing on it - the Riesling lends a racy brightness, the Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc paint with a textured brush
and the Gewürztraminer lifts with a spicy note. Though this wine is yummy young, the great surprise has been
its ability to evolve with age... especially the magnums.
Tasting Notes 2007 Robert Sinskey Marcien, Proprietary Red, Los Carneros, Napa Valley:
Elegant and restrained aromas of forest floor and spice waft up from the glass until a swirl reveals a bouquet
of red stone fruit, and blackberry with just a hint of spice and meaty smokiness... yet no one element
overpowers the other. The flavors are restrained at first yet continue to open with time in the glass. There is
an appearance of sweet fruit (though the wine is dry), while the firm, fully developed tannins create balance
as the earthy notes evolve into black fruits with hints of dark chocolate. The long mouth-watering finish makes
for a particularly affable dinner companion and suggests that this elegant, balanced wine will age gracefully...

An original hand-painted production cel from the longest running hit animated television show, THE
SIMPSONS. This cel features Homer and Marge as they appeared in the episode “Sweets and Sour Marge”
which originally aired January 20th, 2002. When Springfield is named the “World’s Fattest Town”, thanks to a
diabolical scheme by the Motherloving Sugar Corporation, Marge takes it upon herself to rid the entire town
of the sweet stuff.
This cel depicts Homer and Marge in court. The background has been reproduced from the original hand
painted production background onto archival quality acid free paper, and the art is accompanied by the
Twentieth Century Fox Seal and Certificate of Authenticity.

6014 Alfred Stieglitz: Photographs & Writings
Alfred Stieglitz (January 1, 1864 – July 13, 1946) was an American photographer and modern art promoter
who was instrumental over his fifty-year career in making photography an accepted art form. In addition to his
photography, Stieglitz is known for the New York art galleries that he ran in the early part of the 20th century,
where he introduced many avant-garde European artists to the U.S. He was married to painter Georgia
O'Keeffe.
Alfred Stieglitz's contribution to the history of photography extends far beyond his photographic work, which
he began as a student in Germany in 1883. He influenced generations of photographers, painters, and
sculptors both directly and indirectly. In 1905, with Edward Steichen, he founded the Little Galleries of the
Photo-Secession at 291 Fifth Avenue in New York, which later became known simply as 291 . He elevated
photography's status to the level of painting and sculpture through the numerous pioneering exhibitions that
he organized.
Stieglitz was a founder of the Photo-Secessionist and Pictorialist photography movements in the United States
and promoted them in Camera Notes and Camera Work , the influential journals that he founded and edited.
His early photographs were Pictorialist in style. His late work focused in depth on a few subjects, including
New York City, the cloud studies that he called "Equivalents," and a portrait series of his wife, the painter
Georgia O'Keeffe. Stieglitz worked tirelessly through his efforts as a photographer, collector, curator, writer,
and publisher to secure photography's role as a legitimate medium of fine art.

A Cel from THE SIMPSONS
This cel (#D2504) features Homer as he appeared in episode 5F15, “Girly Edition” which originally aired April
19th, 1998. In the episode, Lisa becomes the anchorwoman for a children's new program. Bart is also hired for
the show and launches a series of trite human-interest stories that attract a lot of attention and overshadow
Lisa's more serious work. Meanwhile, Homer claims he's handicapped so he can adopt a trained monkey
named Mojo, who will wait on him hand and foot. This cel depicts Homer in the Kwik-E-Mart.
The background has been reproduced from the original hand-painted production background onto archival
quality acid free paper and the art is accompanied by the Twentieth Century Fox Seal and Certificate of
Authenticity. This artwork is intended for gift or donation purposes only, and is prohibited from resale.

About the artist:
Like the samurai in many of his paintings on fabric, Hisashi Otsuka is an artist of
remarkable dedication. Schooled in Zen and the martial arts, he has lived and
worked by the warrior’s code of discipline and duty. Rooted in Japanese tradition
yet adventurous in nature, he is known throughout the world for his boldness of
color and style that mark him as truly unique.
His studio is located in the DUMBO neighborhood in Brooklyn.
In New York, London, Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Hawaii, Otsuka’s one-man shows have earned the
highest praise. His international prominence increases year by year, making him truly a dominant force on the
world art scene. To Otsuka, life and art create each other. He, the master, the warrior, devotes himself to the
fabric of both, wielding his brush like a sword.
