OMT previsions show that succes in the service area is rather determined by raising the quantity and quality of the extra services, and not by the tourist
potential of the area. Tourists prefer more various ways of having fun, active rest and relaxation. Considering the fact that the 21st century presents great
opportunities, and the expectations of the society are higher with each day, it is more difficult to meet the customers ’ requirements. The Tourism and Public
Alimentation section within the Theoretical High School „Téglás Gábor” have decided to face these challenges.
The main objective of our institution is the development of human capital, increasing our competivity, connecting education and continuous learning with
practice, to ensure the power of our labor force, which represents opportunities for the students of our high school, in order to get a place in our modern and flexible
labour market.
For this purpose, we developed partnerships with our private sponsors from Deva suh as: S.C. UNITA TURISM HOLDING S.A, The Sarmis and Deva
Hotels, S.C. EXPERT TRADING S.R.L, The Davos Hotel, S.C. STARTUR S.R.L, Archia Boarding House, S.C. ELVILA PRODUCT S.R.L, Alasca Boarding
House, S.C. PRESSO AGRO COMERT S.R.L. Aqualand restaurant, S.C. COMAN S.N.C. Al Capone restaurant, S.C. VICTOR LOWE EXIM S.R.L. La Poșta Veche
restaurant, S.C. AQUALAND S.R.L leisure complex, swimming pool and open-air bath.
As to what concerns our exchange experience, the students in the year 2011-2012 participated in a common project called
„Cooking together”, with the students from Szeged, who study at the Technological High School „Hansaci Ferenc”, which is a
high school with a section of public alimentation and tourism. In the project the studens from Deva and Szeged collected
traditional recipes, which they later published in a brochure.
At present we are in the last year of the project named „Active partnership for the labor market” ID 60004 sponsored by the
European Social Fund through the Operational and Sectorial program by Development of the Human Resources 2007-2013, project that
was implemented together with the School Inspectorate of Hunedoara County, and led by our distinguished teachers Marta Mate and
Edit Fodor, on behalf of our institution.
By the instrumentality of this project, a cabinet has been equipped and fitted with furniture, IT, protection, speciality books,
consumables.
Moreover, the students that participated in this project paid visits to university centers, and together with all the other activities
carried out in our project, like counselling and visits to the Employment Office, organised at AJOFM, all of them aiming at the
improvement of the vocational training level, and also at supporting the persons from the target group in the action of finding a
workplace. This project also provided individual scholarships to the students.

Throughout 2012-2014, by means of the school project called „Adopt a historical monument”, the students of the 9th grade adopted the
historical monument „The Notre Dame Church and the Franciscan Monastery” in Deva, and the students of the 11th grade adopted the
historical monument „Magna Curia”, which is also in Deva.
Through this project the students of the Hunedoara county have the chance to get familiar with the rich historical patrimony of the
area, whereby to grow and obtain knowledge on the cultural values of the county. Within this program the students organize
contests with other students at county or national levels, presentations, symposiums, thematic meetings, exhibitions and events, for
the purpose of learning about of the history of our country. Thus, in order to promote the chosen monument more efficiently, the
students will carry out various activities such as: cleaning and hygienizing the green areas, planting trees and seeds near the
monuments, training the students to be tourist guides, how to make flyers, brochures, calendars, business cards, websites,
facebook pages, and other promotional materials which contribute to the advertising of the monuments. All these activities
contribute to a large extent not only to offering historical dates, but also to promoting the tourist patrimony of the area, leading to a
lasting development of the Hunedoara county.
Throughout the years, the students can benefit from the offer of the company S.C.UNITA TURISM HOLDING S.A., whereby the
students can go through stages of professional training at 3 – 4* hotels at the seaside, at Mamaia, The Orfeu, Amiral and Comandor
Hotels, at Olimp, The Belvedere, or at Archia Boarding House, The Davos Hotel, the Aqualand restaurant, also working throughout all
summer.
In the summer of 2012, our schoolgirls had the chance to gain experience in the confectionary domain, having the opportunity to
work at „Áfonya” Tearoom in Szeged and at „Vörös szegfű” Tearoom in Deszk, Hungary.
In the 2013-2014 school year the activity of the Technical Department is coordonated by teacher Edit Fodor, in collaboration with
the following teachers: Mate Ladislau, Balogh Ildikó, Fodor Katalin, Tófalvi Emese, Oprisa Melinda, Hejus Ágnes and Sipos Zsolt..
