Marc D. Grodman, MD, founded
BioReference Laboratories, Inc. in
December 1981 and has been Chairman,
President and CEO since its formation.
After obtaining his BA from the University
of Pennsylvania, Dr. Grodman received
his MD from Columbia, attended Harvard
University’s Kennedy School of Government,
and previously was a Primary Care Clinical
Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital
and an Assistant Professor of Clinical
Medicine at Columbia University College of
Physicians and Surgeons.
He is currently serving as Vice Chairman
of the American Clinical Laboratories
Association and is on the Board of Trustees
of The Actors Fund of America.

James Weisberger, MD
Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Weisberger has been GenPath’s Chief Medical Officer since 2004. He
is a recognized leader in hematopathology with more than 40 publications
as abstracts or peer-reviewed journal articles. He has continued to teach,
for more than 15 years, as a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology
and Medicine at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.
Dr. Weisberger was Chief Resident in Pathology at Westchester Medical Center
and completed a fellowship in hematopathology at the New York-Cornell
Medical Center under Dr. Daniel Knowles, an internationally recognized
Hematopathologist. Dr. Weisberger earned both a BS and an MS from Stanford
University and an MD from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Weisberger
is board certified in internal medicine, hematopathology, and anatomic and
clinical pathology.

De-Hui Wayne Ku, PhD
Technical Director of Special
Coagulation Laboratory
Dr. Ku has been GenPath’s Technical
Director of Coagulation since 2004.
He completed his fellowships at Fels
Cancer Institute, Temple University; the
National Cancer Institute, Bethesda,
MD; and at Jefferson Cancer Institute,
Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Ku has published
32 original articles focused on topics
such as thrombosis and coagulation
activation markers. Dr. Ku obtained
his PhD from Temple University,
Pathology Department, Philadelphia.
He is a member of the American
Society of Hematology and the
International Society on Thrombosis and
Haemostasis.
Cytogenetics
Annette Meredith, PhD
Director of Microarray
Dr. Meredith completed a fellowship in
clinical cytogenetics and clinical molecular
genetics at Harvard Medical School.
She earned a PhD in biophysics and
computational biology from the University
of Illinois. Dr. Meredith has published in
peer-reviewed journals on topics such as
recurrent cytogenetic abnormalities in
hematological malignancies. She has won
scientific awards in cell biology and given
numerous scientific presentations to
her peers.

Kenian Liu, MD, PhD
Assistant Director of Cytogenetics
Dr. Liu completed a fellowship in
molecular genetics at University of
Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and
his postdoctoral fellowship at the Cancer
Institute of New Jersey. He earned
his MD in China at the Anhui Medical
University and a PhD from the University
of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. Liu has published several papers in
prestigious journals. He is board certified
in clinical cytogenetics.
Surgical Pathology
Vaidehi Jobanputra, PhD, FACMG
Dr. Jobanputra is currently an Assistant
Professor of Clinical Pathology at
the Columbia University College of
Physicians and Surgeons. She completed
a postdoctoral fellowship in obstetrics
at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Jobanputra earned her PhD in
anatomy, specializing in cytogenetics, at
the All India Institute of Medical Sciences
in Rajkot, India. She is board certified

Luoquan Wang, MD
Medical Director of Cytopathology
Dr. Wang completed his cytology
fellowship and served as Assistant
Professor and Attending Pathologist at
Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein
Medical College, Bronx, NY. He received
his pathology training from The State
University New York at Downstate Medical
Center, Brooklyn, where he served as

Pushpa Gupta, MD
Dr. Butala has more than 15 years of
experience as a Pathologist, 10 of which
are with GenPath. Dr. Butala completed
his fellowship in surgical pathology
and cytology at North Shore University
Hospital, Manhasset, NY. He was Chief
Resident in Pathology at Harlem Hospital
Center, NY, and Resident in Pathology at
Brooklyn-Caledonian Hospital, Brooklyn,
NY. Dr. Butala is board certified in
anatomic and clinical pathology.
Previously, Dr. Chen served as Surgical
Pathologist at South Nassau Communities
Hospital in New York. She earned her MD
from the China Medical University and has
published numerous papers in journals
including Pediatric Pathology and Molecular
Medicine, American Society of Cytopathology,
Journal of Urology, and the Journal of
Neurochemistry. Dr. Chen is board certified
in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Dr. Gupta is an Assistant Clinical
Professor at the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed
her fellowship in neuropathology and
served her residency in pathology at the
Metropolitan Flower and Fifth Avenue
Hospitals, New York Medical College,
NY. Dr. Gupta completed an internship in
pathology at the Brooklyn Cumberland
Medical Center, NY. She earned an MD
in India. Dr. Gupta is board certified in
hematopathology and anatomic and
clinical pathology.
Fan Chen, MD, PhD
Prior to joining GenPath, Dr. Chen was
Assistant Professor, Clinical Pathology
at the New York University Medical
Center. She completed her Gynecological
Pathology fellowship at Bellevue Hospital,
New York University Medical Center, where
she was Fellow of the Year in 2008.
Dr. Chen earned her PhD in Molecular
Biology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical
School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Chen is board
certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Diane Du, MD, PhD
Dr. Du was Chief of Molecular Pathology
and Assistant Professor at WinthropUniversity Hospital, Mineola, NY. She
completed a fellowship in surgical
pathology and OB-GYN pathology at Beth
Israel Medical Center in NY. Dr. Du earned
her MD from China Medical College and
her PhD in Molecular Biology from The
Rockefeller University. She was listed by
Consumer’s Research Council of America
as one of America’s Top Pathologists,
2008 and 2009. Dr. Du is board certified in
cytopathology and anatomic pathology.
Renuka Kulkarni, MD
Dr. Kulkarni completed a surgical
pathology fellowship at the Department
of Pathology at the Medical Center of
Georgia (MCG). Prior to MCG she served
in several capacities at Saint Barnabas
Medical Center in New Jersey and
as a research assistant at Columbia
University and NYU Medical Center
in New York. She earned an MD in
India. Dr. Kulkarni is board certified in

Danielle D. Pritchett, MD, FASCP
Hach V. Turyan, MD
Dr. Murkis has more than 25 years of
pathology experience. Previously, Dr. Murkis
was Attending Pathologist at New York
Hospital Queens, Flushing, NY. She
completed her surgical pathology fellowship
training and her residency in anatomic and
clinical pathology, at New York Hospital
Queens, where she was Chief Resident for
two years. Dr. Murkis obtained her MD in
Moscow, Russia. She is board certified in
anatomic pathology.
Dr. Pritchett completed her fellowship
in cytopathology at Montefiore Medical
Center, Albert Einstein College of
Medicine, New York, NY. She completed
her resident training at The Johns Hopkins
Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She was later
appointed Chief Resident in anatomic
pathology at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Pritchett received her MD from the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She
is board certified in cytopathology and
Dr. Turyan previously worked at
InterScience Laboratories in New York
where he served as Assistant Medical
Director. Prior to InterScience, Dr. Turyan
held several positions as a pathologist
in New York. He earned his MD from
Azerbaijan State Medical University in
Azerbaijan and was a Clinical Instructor
at the Medical University of South
Carolina. Dr. Turyan is board certified in

Dr. Petrov has more than 27 years of
experience in clinical pathology. His
previous positions include pathology
appointments at Staten Island University
Hospital, State University of New York,
and St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical
Center in New York. He completed his
internship at Beth Israel Medical Center
in New York. He is trained in internal
medicine and is board certified in
anatomic pathology.

Fang Qian, MD
Dr. Qian was most recently the Chief of
Cytology at Newark Beth Israel Medical
Center in NJ. At Beth Israel, Dr. Qian
collaborated on clinical research
related to surgical pathology and gave
presentations for tumor boards. She was
trained as a fellow in GYN pathology at
Columbia University and earned an MD
from Beijing Medical University. Dr. Qian
is board certified in anatomic and
clinical pathology.
Wenjeng Wang, MD
Dr. Wang was Attending Pathologist at
Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center
in New York. She also worked as a
research specialist in the Pulmonary
and Critical Care Division at the
University of Pennsylvania. She earned
her MD in Internal Medicine at the
Shanxi Medical College of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. She has published
numerous papers and is the recipient of
distinguished teaching awards. Dr. Wang
is board certified in cytopathology and

Yun Zhong, MD, PhD
Dr. Zhong has several years of
experience as a research scientist in
prestigious universities such as the
New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Zhong completed his MD in China
and his PhD in Experimental Pathology
in Japan. He has published articles in
the British Journal of Cancer and is board
certified in surgical pathology.
Weisu Zhang, MD
Dr. Zhang is a research scientist at
GenPath whose work on Jak2 Exon
12 analysis was recently presented at
ASH (2010). Dr. Zhang was a Principle
Research Associate at Genzyme Genetics
where he designed a new assay for
detecting K-ras in mutant cancer cells.
He did his postdoctoral scientific work at
Columbia University in their Department
of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics.
Dr. Zhang earned his MD in China at the
Nantong Medical College.
Hematopathology
Po-Shing Lee, MD
Medical Director of Flow Cytometry
Dr. Lee has been a Hematopathologist
with GenPath since 2007 and prior to
that worked at Genzyme Genetics from
2002 to 2007. Initially, Dr. Lee started
a flow cytometry laboratory in Taiwan
at the Chimei Foundation Medical
Center. He completed his fellowship
in hematopathology at the New York

Liliana Alexa, MD
Dr. Alexa was an Attending Pathologist
at Staten Island University Hospital,
NY. Previously she was a Primary Care
and Internal Medicine Physician in
Bucharest, Romania. Dr. Alexa completed
her fellowship in surgical pathology at
Pennsylvania Hospital (University of
Pennsylvania), Philadelphia. She received
her MD from the Faculty of General
Medicine, Bucharest, Romania. Dr. Alexa
is board certified in hematopathology as
well as anatomic and clinical pathology.
Sean Cote, DO
Dr. Cote comes to GenPath from Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital where
he was Clinical Assistant Professor of
Pathology and Staff Hematopathologist.
He completed his residency and
hematopathology fellowship at Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital where he
was appointed Chief Resident. Dr. Cote
completed his undergraduate degree
at The University of Massachusetts and
earned a DO from Philadelphia College of
Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Cote is board
certified in hematopathology and anatomic
and clinical pathology.

Nikolay D. Dimov, MD
Wil M. Fehrle, MD
Prior to joining GenPath, Dr. Dimov
completed a fellowship in
hematopathology at the University of
Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and
the Armed Force Institute of Pathology,
Washington DC. He received his MD from
Bulgaria where he worked as a physician
in the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and
the Center for Transfusion Hematology.
Dr. Dimov is board certified in anatomic

Dr. Juco was a Staff Pathologist and

Canada. He completed his fellowship in

Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Dr. Juco received
his MD and completed his residency
training in general pathology (AP/CP)

Yan Gao Fan, MD
Dr. Fan joined GenPath from LabCorp
where she was a Hematopathologist.

Joseph Weisensel, DO
Dr. Merati was most recently a Staff

Dr. Talwar was the Medical Director at
both Staten Island University Hospital
South and the Medical Center Laboratory
in Brooklyn, NY. She completed a
fellowship in hematopathology at Temple
University and her residency in anatomic

School of Medicine. Dr. Talwar is board

Yong Ming Li, PhD
Dr. Li completed his fellowship in
dermatopathology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt
Hospital in NY. He received his medical

at Urbana-Champaign earning a PhD
in molecular immunology. Dr. Li has
published numerous articles in peerreviewed journals such as Nature

Leslie Huff, MD
Medical Director of Cytology
Dr. Huff previously was an Associate
Pathologist at Quest Diagnostics.
She earned her medical degree from
the University of Kentucky College of

Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
She has won several awards including
Outstanding Academic Performance
in Internal Medicine. Dr Huff is board

Ramana Tantravahi, PhD
Assistant Director, Cytogenetics
Dr. Tantravahi started his academic career
at Harvard University, Boston, MA, and has
over 40 years of experience in his field. He
has held research and teaching positions
at Harvard University, Columbia University,
University of Massachusetts, and Andhra
University, India. Dr. Tantravahi has held
clinical positions at Brigham and Women’s
Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute. Dr. Tantravahi regularly peer
reviews journal articles; his previous
work includes the American Journal of
Hematology, Cell Genetics, and the Journal
of Clinical Oncology. He has published over
60 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Yiqiu Zhang, MD
Previously, Dr. Zhang was a Senior
Dermatopathologist at Quest Diagnostics.
She completed her fellowship in
dermatopathology at New York
Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical
College. Dr. Zhang also completed a
fellowship in oncology pathology at
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Dr. Kerman earned her medical degree

Katherine Berezowski, M.D.
Dr. Berezowski was an Associate

at the National University Pedro Henriquez

Prior to co-founding GeneDx with
Dr. Compton, Dr. Bale was Section Chief
in the National Institute of Arthritis and
Musculosketal and Skin Diseases in the
Genetic Studies Section/Laboratory of
Skin Biology, and prior to that she was a
Senior Staff Fellow at the National Cancer
Institute (NCI) in the Division of Cancer
Epidemiology. She received her PhD in
human genetics from the University of
Pittsburgh, PA. She completed fellowship
training in medical genetics at the
National Institutes of Health, Interinstitute
Medical Genetics Training Program.
Dr. Bale is board-certified by the American
College of Medical Genetics.
Shelly L. Kerman, MD
Medical Director of Cytogenetics
Dr. Kerman was Director of Cytology
and Associate Pathologist at Diagnostic
Pathology Services, Inc. in Clarksburg,
MD. She completed her resident training
in pathology at The Fairfax Hospital in
Falls Church, VA. She also trained in
medical cytogenetics at the National
Cancer Institute, National Institutes of

Kathleen Hruska, PhD, FACMG
Associate Scientific Director
Dr. Hruska joined GeneDx after her
postdoctoral fellowship in the Section
on Molecular Neurogenetics, National
Human Genome Research Institute,
Bethesda, MD. She received a BS in
biological chemistry from Murray State
University, KY, where she graduated
summa cum laude, and her PhD from
University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Dr. Hruska is board certified in clinical
molecular genetics.
Anne Maddalena, PhD, FACMG
Prior to joining GeneDx, Dr. Maddalena
was the Director of the Molecular
Genetic Laboratory at the Genetics
& IVF Institute, Fairfax, VA. She is an
Affiliate Assistant Professor at Virginia
Commonwealth University, Department
of Human Genetics, Richmond, VA.
Dr. Maddalena received a BS in biology
from the University of Detroit, MI, and
a PhD in Microbiology/Immunology

Swaroop Aradhya, PhD, FACMG
Vice President and Director, Clinical
Microarray Services
Dr. Aradhya has been in the field of
medical genetics since 1994 when he
worked at the National Human Genome
Research Institute, National Institutes of
Health. He earned his PhD in molecular
and human genetics in 2001 at Baylor
College of Medicine. Prior to joining
GeneDx, Dr. Aradhya completed his
American Board of Medical Genetics
training in 2007 at Stanford University.
He is board certified in clinical molecular
genetics and clinical cytogenetics. His

Daniela Macaya, PhD, FACMG
Director of Cardiology
Dr. Macaya is a new member of the
GeneDx team, and was recently
appointed Director of Cardiology. She
previously was director of the Molecular
Genetics Laboratory in the Newborn
Screening Program at the National
Children’s Hospital in Costa Rica. Prior
to that, Dr. Macaya earned her medical
specialty at the Johns Hopkins University
Jeanne Meck, PhD
Director of Cytogenomics at GeneDx
Dr. Meck joined GeneDx in 2010 to start
the new Cytogenetics Laboratory and
Prenatal Array program. She is an ABMG
certified clinical cytogeneticist with
approximately 30 years of experience in
chromosome analysis. She trained in
cytogenetics and immunogenetics at the
University of Miami School of Medicine
during her postdoctoral fellowship.
Subsequently, at Georgetown University
School of Medicine, Jeanne was the
Director of the Cytogenetics Laboratory
and Chief of the Division of Genetics
in the Department of ObGyn for many
years. She has maintained her faculty
appointment as Professor at Georgetown
and is actively involved in training medical
genetics fellows through the NHGRI/NIH
fellowship program.
Isabelle Marie Olivos-Glander, PhD
Director, Clinical Laboratory Operations
Prior to joining GeneDx, Dr. Olivos-Glander
was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National
Human Genome Research Institute,
Genetic Disease Research Branch and
at the University of Maryland Medical
Systems, Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory,
Baltimore. Dr. Olivos-Glander received a
BA in biology from Bryn Mawr College, PA,
and her PhD in molecular biology from the
University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Dr. Richard received her MD from Erfurt
Medical Academy and is board certified in
the United States in Medical Genetics.
Ellen G. Pfendner, PhD
Director, EBDx Program
Prior to joining GeneDx, Dr. Pfendner
was at Thomas Jefferson University,
Philadelphia, PA, where she served as
Assistant Professor and Manager of
Molecular Diagnostics and Instructor
and Manager of Matrix Molecular
Diagnostics. She was also a Research
Assistant Professor at the Medical College
of Pennsylvania and the Director of
Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory
at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in
Philadelphia. Dr. Pfendner received a BS
in biology and chemistry from Simmons
College, Boston, MA, and her PhD from
the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Shevchenko received his Master’s
degree in Physics from the Moscow
Institute of Physics and Technology and
his PhD in Molecular Biology from the
Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (Russian
Academy of Sciences). After a year in
the laboratory of Dr. Charles Cantor
at Boston University, Dr. Schevchenko
became a visiting fellow at the NIH, where
he spent two years developing methods
for DNA-based diagnostics of hereditary
skin disorders in Dr. Sherri Bale’s
laboratory and another two years at the
NIH Intramural Sequencing center under
Dr. Eric Green.
Gabriele Richard, MD, FACMG
Medical Director
Prior to joining GeneDx, Dr. Richard was
Associate Professor for Dermatology and
Genetics at Jefferson Medical College,
Philadelphia, PA, and Codirector of the
DEBRA Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory.
Before that, she worked as a Research/
Clinical Fellow in Molecular Medical
Genetics at the National Institutes of
Health and as a dermatologist at the

Dr. Smaoui comes to GeneDx from the
National Eye Institute, DNA Diagnostic

Laboratory Director. He was a Postdoctoral
Fellow at the National Eye Institute/
National Institutes of Health. In addition,
he received his Master Diploma in human
genetics from University Pierre et Marie
Curie, Paris VI, France. Dr. Smaoui is board
certified in clinical molecular genetics.

Dr. Suchy received a BS in biology and
psychology from the College of William
and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, and a PhD in
human genetics from the Medical College
of Virginia, Richmond. Dr. Suchy is board
certified by the American College of
Medical Genetics.

Dr. Bennett is one of the world’s leading
authorities on the diagnosis and
management of the myelodysplastic
syndromes and the classification of
leukemias. He was the Founder and first
Chair of the MDS Foundation, a multi
disciplinary, international organization
devoted to the prevention, treatment,
and study of myelodysplastic syndromes.
Dr. Bennett’s work during the last 40
years has significantly increased the
community oncologist’s ability to properly
classify hematological malignancies and
thus develop proper treatment regimens.
He has authored more than 500 journal
articles in prestigious journals.
Dr. Bennett is currently Professor
Emeritus at the University of
Rochester and serves as an
Attending Hematopathologist in the
Hematopathology Section of the
Department of Pathology at University of
Rochester Medical Center. He was the
former Head of the Medical Oncology Unit
at the University of Rochester Medical
Center and a Professor of Oncology in

Stephen David Nimer, MD
Professor of Medicine, Memorial SloanKettering Cancer Center, New York, NY
Dr. Nimer is a Professor of Medicine
at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center and the Director of Hematological
Oncology Research. He has practiced
as a hematologist/oncologist for the
last 25 years, focusing on the care of
patients with hematologic cancers.
Dr. Nimer established the autologous
stem cell transplant program at Memorial
Sloan for hematological malignancies.
Dr. Nimer’s laboratory is currently
investigating the molecular defects that
underlie the myeloid malignancies such
as AML, myelodysplastic syndromes, or
myeloproliferative neoplasms, including
chronic myelogenous leukemia. His
laboratory has cloned several genes
involved in blood formation and has
extensively characterized the most
common translocation (exchange of
chromosomes) found in acute leukemia,
the t(8;21). More recently, Dr. Nimer’s
laboratory has broadened their focus
to understand how cancer cells resist
chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Dr. Nimer currently serves on the Board
of the Bone Marrow Foundation; the
Aplastic Anemia and MDS International
Foundation, Inc.; the Myelodysplastic
Syndrome Foundation; and is the of
Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board
of the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation
for Cancer Research. He is also on the
editorial board of several medical and
scientific journals. Dr. Nimer has been
a member of the American Society of
Clinical Investigation since 1997.
Dr. Nimer received a BS in biology from
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
and an MD, with honors, from the
University of Chicago (Pritzker) School of
Medicine. He is board certified in medical
oncology and hematology.
Dr. Tefferi’s academic and research
achievements include over 800
publications. He serves as an Associate
or Section Editor for the Mayo Clinic
Proceedings, Leukemia, American Journal
of Hematology, and European Journal of
Hematology. Dr. Tefferi also participates
in the editorial board of several journals
including Blood, Cancer, Leukemia
Research, Acta Haematologica, and
Leukemia and Lymphoma. Dr. Tefferi has
given more than 500 worldwide invited
lectureships and serves as faculty for the
annual Hematology and Oncology Board
review courses at George Washington
University in Washington, DC, Harvard in
Boston, MA, and MD Anderson Cancer
Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Tefferi completed his medical school
education at the University of Athens,
Greece. He received his hematology
training at the Mayo Clinic before joining
the staff at the Mayo Clinic College of
Medicine, Division of Hematology in the
Department of Medicine.

the leading scientific journals including
Nature Medicine, Cancer Cell, Nature
Immunology, etc.
Dr. Melnick received his medical degree
at the University of Buenos Aires, School
of Medicine and then trained in Internal
Medicine, Hematology and Oncology at the
Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New
York. He was the Belfer Scholar in Cancer
Research at the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine prior to joining Weill Cornell.
Ayalew Tefferi, MD
Professor of Medicine, Mayo Medical
Center, Rochester, MN
Dr. Tefferi is a Professor of Medicine at the
Mayo Clinic. His investigational studies
focus on the clinical and laboratory
aspects of myeloid disorders with
particular emphasis on myeloproliferative
neoplasms such as polycythemia vera,
essential thrombocythemia, myelofibrosis
and myelodysplastic syndromes. Dr. Tefferi
is primarily engaged in direct patient care
with his research focusing on improving
patient outcomes.

diagnostics. Dr. Ross is the author of more

and research abstracts, four textbooks and
numerous book chapters in the fields of
pathology, molecular diagnostics, oncology
and translational cancer research.
At Albany Medical College, Dr. Ross
directs an extramurally funded research
laboratory in molecular pathology. Since
2000, Dr. Ross has been a member of
the NIH Clinical Oncology Study Section.

Dr. Chung is an Assistant Professor of
Pediatrics at Columbia University. She
directs research programs in human
genetics of complex traits such as
obesity, diabetes, breast cancer, and
congenital heart disease. Clinically, she
directs programs in risk assessment
for oncogenetics, cardiomyopathy,
arrhythmias, and diabetes and develops
novel molecular diagnostic methods
to improve genetic testing including
preimplantation genetic diagnosis.

and nutrition. Since 1992, he’s also

Dr. McGregor completed his internship
at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance,
California in 1971, and residency at the
University of California Los Angeles and
LAC+USC Women’s & Children’s Hospital
in 1975. He continued his training as
a Fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
at the University of Colorado School of
Medicine.

Dr. Gilbert brings over 35 years of

currently the medical director of the
STD Center for Excellence at Montefiore
Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, where
he offers a CME-accredited course in
sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Gilbert is currently conducting a
study on antibody responses in vaginal
yeast infections. He recently wrote a
paper on a new treatment for resistant
vaginal trichomonas infection and has
written papers on the use of Imiquomod
in treating resistant Herpes infections
in HIV-positive patients, as well as on
the use of Imiquomod in treating genital
warts in HIV-positive patients and nontreponema pallidum spirochetes causing
genital ulcers.
Dr. Gilbert completed his medical
training at the Albert Einstein College
of Medicine in 1975, where he is now an
Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine.
He provides guidance as an advisor to
several patient organizations related to
sexually transmitted diseases. Dr. Gilbert
has been named to Best Doctor’s in
America every year since 2006.
Dr. Martens is currently Chairman of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
and Chief of the Division of OB-GYN
Infectious Diseases at Jersey Shore
University Medical Center. He also serves
as Clinical Professor and Vice-Chair of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
at the University of Medicine and Dentistry
of New Jersey. In addition, he is the
current President of the International
Society of Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics
and Gynecology.
Previously, he was a Clinical Professor
in the Department of Obstetrics &
Gynecology at The University of Oklahoma
College of Medicine, Tulsa. Dr. Martens’
research centers on infectious diseases
in women, specifically viral diseases,
bioterrorism effects in women and
pregnancy, and menopause. He has
published over one-hundred-fifty peerreview articles in reputable journals.
Dr. Martens received his Bachelor of Arts
in Biology from Kenyon College in 1977. He
then went on to receive his medical degree
from George Washington University’s
School of Medicine in 1982. He completed
his residency at Hartford Hospital in 1986
and completed his fellowship at Baylor
College of Medicine’s Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1987.
