Our over-simplified club logo (red) is a composite of the letters r, c & B joined into a continuous ring.
This is symbolic of the club members’ willingness to join hands in community service. Over-all
cardiode/heart shape connotes that our members serve from the heart. The four quadrant elements
are symbolic of Rotary’s Four-Way Test and our members’ commitment to it.

Rotary Club of Baguio, Benguet, Philippines
Dear Fellow Rotarians:
It is my pleasure to congratulate you on your installation as a 2005-06 Club Officer or
Director.
As a 2005-06 Club Officer, you have a very special responsibility. This is the beginning of
our second century of leadership in service to others. It is also a time when I am asking
Rotarians everywhere to recommit to the principle of Service Above Self. Service organizations like Rotary International play a vital role in today’s society and will play an even more
important role in the future. There are two words that are key to our success—cooperation
and continuity.
Rotary has set a standard on how cooperation and continuity can work among society, the
private sector, other foundations and service organizations through its PolioPlus Programme
“to interrupt the transmission of the wild polio virus.” For more than 20 years, Rotary International has cooperated with the United Nations, through the WHO and UNICEF in this
programme and we are now looking forward to a giant success story.
Cooperation, however, does not have to be on a global basis, it must also be on the local level.
Districts, or clubs, are likely to reach further in cooperation than each party could possibly do
working individually.
All the fields in which Rotary is working are huge—health, hunger, literacy and water, just to
mention a few. None of these issues can be solved over a short period of time. If that had
been possible, the problems would already have been solved. This is why continuity at all
levels is so important.
To work for a better world for all people is like putting together a giant puzzle. Every participant will have to help in placing the pieces. Through Service Above Self, Rotary International is working to make its pieces and its contribution as large as possible, and in doing so
we continue to show the world the great leadership of our organization. As the leaders of
Rotary at the club level, it is up to you to carry this vision into our next century of service.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
We are gathered together tonight to induct the officers and members of the Rotary Club of
Baguio. Let me congratulate President Michael “Mike” Pearson and his 101 Team for
responding to the call and challenge of leading the Rotary Club of Baguio in Rotary Year
2005-06.
What makes our job more challenging and meaningful is that we are the team that draws to
a close, the first century of Rotary. More importantly, we are the team that will open the
door of Rotary Service in Rotary’s second century.
In its first 100 years, Rotary’s growth has been phenomenal. Its progress dwarfs the dreams
of its founders. Yet as Rotary moves forward, it always returns to its beginnings– not to the
accidental beginning in that Chicago office in 1905, but to the essential beginning, the desire
of the heart to help and give love, the desire of the hand to lend itself in service and the desire
of the will to practice the ideal of Service Above Self.
The stress in this new beginning of our motto, now our theme, Service Above Self is on the
last two words, Above Self. We give not because of what we ought to receive, we share not
because of what we ought to get. We do these because we ought to serve, expecting
nothing in return. Yes, we sacrifice yet we enjoy our Rotary journey.
“Servitium ad infinitum”—Service Forever. We will keep this in our minds and in our
hearts. Rotary will live because we do not only believe in its purpose. We do what Rotary is
all about– encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy living.
We in the 101 Team shall enjoy our quest together. Have a happy and enjoyable Rotary
Work. Congratulations to all of you, “MABUHAY Rotary Club of Baguio.”

RCB PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Today marks several new “beginnings”—the beginning of the Rotary Club of Baguio’s 68th
year of service in the community, as well as the beginning of Rotary International’s second
century of service to the world.
Today’s induction presents to District 3790 the members chosen to lead the Rotary Club of
Baguio for RY 2005-06. We are tasked with continuing the club’s traditions of excellence in
service to our local communities. We are committed to accomplishing the District Goals and
meeting the Objectives of Rotary International for our term. We have even set out goals and
objectives we wish to meet that will further strengthen our club and it’s belief in the Rotary
ideal of Service Above Self.
The leadership will focus on our strengths: the club’s excellent weekly program and bulletin;
our ability to support the Rotary Foundation; our commitment to student scholarships; the
support of our Rotaract and Interact clubs’ activities; continue the relationships with the
partners-in-service that support our projects; as well as career guidance seminars for our
high schools and our yearly vocational service awards. We intend to continue our medicaldental-legal missions in various communities. There are also planned activities that will help
to protect our environment and promote Rotary’s public image.
The club leaders have set high expectations on the abilities of the Rotary Club of Baguio to
serve the various communities that our club is involved with. We have even “raised the bar”,
in the sense that this year, we will adopt a new community and try and to involve all the
Avenues of Service and our club members to help achieve a positive and long term impact
on their lives.
All this will not be possible unless we also focus on our club membership. The general
membership will be even more involved in club activities. We intend to grow in number and
strengthen our fellowship activities. We will support our Rotary Anns and their projects. We
will involve our families. We will go back to the basics of what has made our club last so long
and what has made our members proud to be part of the Rotary Club of Baguio.
The challenge is to lead a distinguished club. The expectations are always high. The club has
chosen its leaders and they are ready. The cooperation and support of our membership will
see us through and make the sacrifice of time and effort all worthwhile. The accomplishment of the various goals and objectives set out will be a team effort, using the knowledge,
resources and experience of our membership, combined with the renewed enthusiasm to
serve both our club, and our communities.

ROTARY ANNS
Greetings to one and all! First of all, I compliment and congratulate last
year’s Officers for their efforts to achieve a productive and fruitful year!
2005 marks a golden milestone for the Rotary Anns of the Rotary Club of
Baguio. This year, the Anns celebrate 50 years as partners in service.
The Rotary Anns are wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, housewives, and
professionals. We are accustomed to supporting and nurturing those around
us—our families, our friends, and most of all those who are in need.
As we reminisce over the past fifty years, it is with fondness and pride in
knowing that we have made a difference. As the incoming President of
the Anns, I look forward to the upcoming year with great hope and anticipation.
The success of running the club each year, depends not on how the Board
runs the club. Rather, it depends greatly on how we work together towards becoming positive influences on one another to achieve our goals.
Together, we shall join hands in rendering service to others, in feeling and
getting the pulse of the common needs of the community, and in translating these needs into action.
Though the years have passed and times have changed, our state of mind
has always been and will always be: Service Above Self.

ROTARY INTERNATIONALGOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 2005-06
CLUB SERVICE
• Develop and implement a memberhip recruitment plan to achieve a net increase of one or
more members by 01 April 2006.
• Ensure that every Rotarian in your club is personally invited to actively participate in club
activities this year, whether it be serving on a project committee or taking responsibility
for some aspect of club service.
• Recognize a Rotarian in your club who actively participates in the full range of club
projects and programs with the Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians.
• Convene a meeting of the club leadership, including incoming officers, to discuss strategic goals for the next three to five years.
• Develop and initiate a new project in support of club service.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
• Join together with another local organization to conduct a joint project in which club
members contribute to planning and hands-on efforts.
• Conduct a water project in your community.
• Contact local media to publicize Rotary’s role in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
• Develop and initiate a new project in support of community service that will be carried out
by at least half your members.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
• Increase contributions to The Rotary Foundation Annual Programs Fund, with the goal of
meeting or exceeding US$100 per capita.
• Help the members of your club understand the internationality of Rotary by participating
in an international exchange program such as Group Study Exchange, Rotary Friendship
Exchange, or Youth Exchange.
• Conduct an international service project in support of water management and sanitation.
• Develop and initiate a new project in support of intenational service that will be carried out
by at least half your members.
VOCATIONAL SERVICE
• Ask each member of your club to share information on Rotary International and on the
club’s activities with their placesof business and/or their professional associations.
• Dedicate st least two club meetings to discussing the enormous potential vocational
service can offer for raising the quality of life and upholding the strong ethics and integrity
exhibited by Rotarians.
• Conduct a literacy or education project internationally; or in your community.
• Develop and initiate a new project in support of vocational service.
YOUTH SERVICE
• Rotaract Clubs may also be recognized for undertaking worthy service activities that
demonstrate Service Above Self. To qualify for the citation, Rotaract clubs must complete
at least (3) activities from those listed as R.I. goals– one of which must fall under community service and another under international service.
