Alexis de Tocqueville Society
YEARS
of the Tulsa Area United Way
A Message from your 2009
Chairs
Dear Alexis de Tocqueville Society
Members,
Take 2 minutes to
watch our 2009
Campaign Video
As summer comes to a close, we are
reminded of the expectations of fall:
the arrival of cooler temperatures, the
changing of the leaves, and our community coming together in support
of the Tulsa Area United Way’s campaign. Autumn is truly campaign
season, and as chairs of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, we couldn’t
be more excited about the upcoming AdT and campaign events.
With the effects of the recession still lingering, we approach this year’s
campaign certain of three things:
• One, that 2010 will be a difficult year;
• Two, that client needs have increased dramatically at virtually
all of our partner agencies;
• Three, that we have an opportunity to meet these needs by
building on last year’s tremendous campaign success.
Last year, Tocqueville members gave in amazing amounts, and we are
asking for your help and support again to make this another recordsetting year.
Once again, our 63 partner agencies and the Tulsa area community are
thankful for your generous past and continued support of our Tulsa
Area United Way. We look forward to seeing you at the Fall Reception.

Day of Caring - 2009 Campaign Kickoff
Held September 11, 2009 at The University of Tulsa
The 2009 Day of Caring
and Campaign Kickoff
officially began at The
University of Tulsa’s
Reynolds Center. We
were fortunate to have
our program at TU’s
expanded facilities and
want to thank their staff
for doing such a great job!
We also appreciate our
event sponsor, Bank of
Oklahoma, for its continued support.
More than 1,000 people came out to enjoy breakfast and a short
program led by Day of Caring Chair, Larry Wagner, of Bank of
Oklahoma. The program included the 2009 Trailblazer campaign
results, the premier of the 2009 campaign video and a special
recognition of 9/11.
After the program, more than 3,000 volunteers gave their time to
support nearly 350 different projects at our 63 partner agencies as part
of one of the largest Day of Caring events in the nation. This number
included more than 125 companies as well as individual volunteers.
Congratulations to the 10 Trailblazer companies, who did an amazing
job of running early campaigns. Trailblazer Chair Russ Florence,
Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR, led the companies who agreed to set an
aggressive goal and aimed for a minimum 10% increase.
• Expo Square
• First United Bank of Sapulpa
• Flintco
• Grant Thornton
• IC Bus of Oklahoma
• Lafarge
• McAfee & Taft
• ONEOK
• Parent Child Center
• Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR
In fact, those 10 companies raised an incredible $1,206,604,
which is actually 12% over last year’s efforts. We applaud their
model campaigns and the momentum they have established for
the community.
Please RSVP for the Tocqueville Fall Reception! Call Laura Bell at 918-295-6618.
