By Law under the Canada Shipping Act
The following must have an arrangement
with a Response Organization in order to
Operate in Canadian Waters:

All Vessels (non Bulk) 400 GT and greater

All Vessels (bulk oil carriers/barges) 150 GT and
greater

Oil Handling Facilities receiving or shipping oil by
marine delivery.
Equipment Deployment :

150 tonne - annually

2500 tonne - every two years

Cross border/Mutual Aid - annually
Table Top

1000 tonne - annually

10,000 tonne – every three years
Three main sources of funding:
BOCF – Bulk Oil Cargo Fee
Membership Fees
(2000+ Oil Handling Facilities, Vessels)

WCMRC’s operational team is comprised of a well-trained,
professional staff and contractor network located throughout
the province ensuring a quick, safe and effective response
WCMRC trains & exercises with over 100 response
contractors each year
