APRIL 2013 From the President BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMITTEES NORTH EAST, PENNSYLVANIA Greg Farrell The club is now open or will be shortly. Come on out and have a great meal and see some of the changes we are doing to the clubhouse. They include painting the Entrance area, the Dining Room and the fireplace area as well as new window treatments. The main bar will also be stained. The grill room will feature a new wall unit and sitting area on the east side of the room and there will soon be a new 55” T.V. We are also purchasing new barstools for the grill room and main bar. Behind the kitchen door we have purchased some much needed equipment including a cooler, a stove, a flat top oven and a dishwasher. All of this should be complete by the end of April. The weather has not been anything like 2012. I think Rob said something about having roasted groundhog on the menu with a balsamic vinegar reduction sauce served over noodles. President of the Board We will be holding the spring meeting on May 1st, 2013 @ 6:00 P.M. At this meeting we will be electing 3 new Board members. Any or all of the current Board members are eligible for election if they so desire. Anyone wishing to run please see this newsletter for more information. This is a program promoted by the PGA and USGA to have more players enjoy the game by playing the tees that better fit their game. If you are having difficulty reaching the greens in regulation or consistently using your fairway woods, try moving up to the next set of tees. You will enjoy the game more and you will play faster. A chart is posted in the pro shop with guidelines to choose the proper tees for your game. Have more fun! TEE TIMES WILL NOT BE REQUIRED IN APRIL Restricted tee times are enforced as per the Rules and Regulations in your Chip Shots. The pro shop will open at 12:00 on Mondays, 8:00 on Tuesdays-Fridays and at 7:00 on Saturdays & Sundays. DRIVING RANGE RULES The practice range will be open as soon as the ground is firm enough so the range balls will not plug. As a rule of thumb, the range will be open except when the soil is too wet. General Rule: if carts are not allowed on the front nine, the range will be closed. The range will close two hours before sunset on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The following mornings are designated as mow days and the range must be picked clean on these nights. CLUB STORAGE is available to all members. The pro shop staff will store and clean your clubs. The fee is $85 (80.19 + 4.81 tax). Pull carts or electric carts are an additional $25. Pull / Electric carts alone without bag storage are $35. Sorry, we do not store or charge batteries for the electric carts. The fee may be paid in the pro shop or billed through your Country Club account. LOCKERS are available in both the men’s and ladies’ room. Annual fee is $75. HALF-PRICE MONDAYS: During April & May, guests green fees are $27.50 on any Monday that an outing is not scheduled. The pro shop opens at 12:00. TITLEIST REWARD PROGRAM Titleist is again offering the Pro V1 and Pro Vx special. POSTING SCORES BEGINS APRIL 1 The first official day of the golf season as recognized by the West Penn Golf Association is April 1. All rounds played after that date must be adjusted and entered in the computer. Rounds played in southern and western areas that were considered in season at the time of your round should be posted in the order they were played. You will need the date, course rating and the slope from each club. You can also post over the Internet by going to www.GHIN.com. You will need your GHIN number. Posting Computers are available in the pro shop, and both locker rooms. Handicap cards can now be printed at the touch of a button. The pro shop terminal has a button named “Handicap Card”. Press it and your card automatically prints. We will again be using GHIN System offered through the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. All scores must be adjusted before posting as per USGA Regulations. The pro shop staff will be glad to assist you with any questions. When posting your scores, be sure to post for the proper tees. Option #1: Play numbers available: Low (1-4), high (5-8), or all the same number (1-9). Option #2: Double Digit Numbers (00, 10-99). $3 per dozen upcharge fee applies. Are you entitled to relief? ANSWER: No, you must play the ball as it lies or take an unplayable lie. Objects defining out of bounds are considered to be off the course and fixed.
