This division is run similar to the old ARTGO series that competed in the 80’s and 90’s throughout the region. The rules package is designed to meet in the middle, allowing drivers throughout the region to make minimal to no changes to their cars in order to race. They exclusively race on Hoosier Racing tires. The Midwest Tour competes at tracks in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota and Indiana. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Sunday at FEST. Big-8 Late Models – This series has become very popular throughout Wisconsin. It is based on a restricted late model rule book, and these cars may be seen racing at area home tracks such as Rockford, LaCrosse, Jefferson, Columbus, Madison, Dells, WIR, and Elko. Tires are exclusively Goodyear 8” treaded tires, and the engines are based on cast iron heads and block. This class gives the weekly short track warrior a chance to race specials at other tracks without interfering with their home track weekly racing schedule. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Saturday at FEST. ASA Midwest Trucks – The ASA Midwest Truck Series was originally a sister series to the MidAmerican Stock Cars. Eventually the series was taken over by the USST Sanction, and in late 2009 the American Speed Association sanction took over the series. The engine rules are the same as the stock cars, and they also run Hoosier tires. The trucks are built on full-size GM or Ford frames, with a 112” minimum wheelbase. Aftermarket truck bodies of Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and Toyota are permitted. The Series competes primarily in Wisconsin, and also has events in Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Sunday at FEST. Area Sportsmen – The Area Sportsmen starts with O.E.M. stock-type bodies, stubs and frames, with a minimum wheelbase of 108”. You may see many of these as a middle support class at short tracks in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. The Area Sportsmen compete on treaded 8” wide racing tires. Bandits - 4 Cylinder compact cars, very similar to Hornets, with full roll cages. However, aftermarket racing products are allowed for performance. The Bandits could be referred to as a “Mini-Sportsmen” car. They are a popular and affordable racing division throughout Wisconsin’s race tracks. “Dick Trickle 99” Super Late Models - The Super Late Models compete on Friday Night. These are similar to the cars you may see in The Futures or in the ASA Midwest Tour. They are based on the ARTGO rules from the late 1990’s. Weight may vary from 2750 to 2850 pounds. They run on Hoosier race tires, and are typically seen competing weekly at tracks like Grundy, Illiana, Norway, Raceway Park, Slinger, Marshfield or Wisconsin International. The unique part of the Trickle 99 is the race format. The race is split up into three 33 lap segments with a different lineup format for each segment. Overall winner is the one with the most “scored points.” Double-O – The Double-O is one of the most exciting and unique races seen in short track racing. The cars line-up on both the ¼ mile and 5/8 mile tracks and the race is a standing start. The cars switch tracks on alternating laps – making an exciting transition at the start / finish line! The race is open to any full-frame car with roll-bars that is already eligible for competition during the weekend. Enduro – The Enduro is a wild and fun race of any 4 cylinder cars with a maximum wheelbase of 103”, complete with stock body, frame, and suspension. 4 Cylinder Mini-Vans are also allowed to compete. This an inexpensive way to try your hand at the fun of racing! No Yellow Flags.... a “Jam” truck is used to push disabled cars out of the way. Each car must provide a “line scorer” in the grandstands to follow & score the laps they complete. The Futures Super Late Models: “The Futures” is a race for up and coming drivers only. Cars competing are Super Late Models seen at tracks throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, etc. based on ARTGO Rules from the late 1990’s. To be eligible to race in the Futures, drivers must be under age 30 -OR- have never run in a previous Oktoberfest 100 Feature Championship Race. It’s a great opportunity for young talent to try their hand at Oktoberfest Racing. Hornets - Any 3 or 4 Cylinder compact car, with a Maximum wheelbase of 103.” The cars are strictly stock with minimal alterations made for Safety. They race many times per season at the LaCrosse Speedway and provide a fun and inexpensive way for a fan to try their hand at racing! 14 FAN INFORMATION Administrative Offices: The La Crosse Speedway office Lost and Found: Lost and found items may be taken to is located just outside the main grandstand entrance. and retrieved at the Speedway Souvenir Stand. Drivers from the following tracks eligible: Elko, Raceway Park, Dells, LaCrosse, Columbus, Slinger, WIR, Jefferson, Rockford and Madison. The JMCK 63 is formatted into three 21 lap segments and run in honor of the Late John McKarns, who loved the unusual race format for the Dick Trickle 99 event. LaCrosse Late Models – The LaCrosse Late Models compete at the LaCrosse Speedway weekly, sanctioned by NASCAR. They run any approved body 1992 or newer, and they run on Hoosier 1070 race tires. Engines may not exceed 363 cubic inches and they may only run a 2-barrel 500 CFM Carburetor. They race weekly at LaCrosse from Late April through Early September plus the Oktoberfest Race Weekend finale. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Thursday at FEST. LaCrosse Sportsmen – Any 1990 or older American Made car complete with stock body, frame, suspension and motor. The minimum weight is 3250 pounds and they run a stock motor with Holley 2-barrel 4412 carburetor. Tires allowed are Goodyear 8” treaded race tires. They race weekly at LaCrosse from Late April through Early September plus right at Oktoberfest. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Thursday at FEST. Mid-American Stock Car Series – The Mid-American Stock Cars is a traveling Sportsman Series. Beginning in 1993 it is based on a 1978-88 GM Metric frame, with aftermarket made-for-racing Sportsman bodies. Engines are 358 cubic inch Chevrolet and Ford or 366 cubic inch V-8 Mopars. They must run a stock Holley 750 CFM Carburetor, 8” Hoosier race tires and weigh a minimum of 3000 pounds. 2012 Series Champion to be decided at FEST. Mini-Stock / American Short Tracker - These cars race at various tracks throughout the upper midwest, and are an entry level division. Any front or rear, two-wheel drive, car or mini-truck, having a minimum of 92” wheel base. Cars must have only a 4-cylinder stock engine and a manufacture date of 2000 or older. Drivers can “Run what you brung,” but rough driving is not tolerated! 2012 Series Champion to be decided at FEST. Vintage - Old race cars from the glory days! A variety of yesteryear’s race cars will run before your very eyes… it is a “must see” race that will bring back a lot of memories, while providing some new ones. This is fun to watch on Sunday Championship day at Oktoberfest. Thunderstox – The typical “bomber” type class seen as an entry level division at most tracks. They must be a complete stock body, frame, suspension, and engine from a car built between 1948 and 2000. A minimum of 106” wheelbase, and passenger tires (maximum P225-70 allowed) are a few of the guidelines which base this division off the LaCrosse Rulebook. They race weekly at LaCrosse from Late April through Early September. 2012 Series Champion to be decided Thursday at FEST. national short track championships september 28-30, 2012 815-633-1500 WWW.ROCKFORDSPEEDWAY.COM 12 DIVISIONS IN ALL INCLUDING: Super Late Models • Big-8 Late Models Mid American Stock Car Series • Sportsmen & More! 17 2012 OKTOBERFEST RACE WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5 Divisions Competing: Divisions Competing: Super Late Models: The Futures Super Late Models: Dick Trickle 99 La Crosse Late Models Area Sportsmen La Crosse Sportsmen • Thunderstox ASA Midwest Trucks Hornets • Double-O Tentative Schedule: Tentative Schedule: 9:00 REGISTRATION OPENS (Fair Exhibition Building) 8:00 REGISTRATION OPENS (Fair Exhibition Building) 9:30 PITS OPEN GRANDSTANDS OPEN PITS OPEN 10:05TRACK OPENS - Open Practice 8:35 PRACTICE STARTS-Rotate Divisions 2:30 OPEN PRACTICE ENDS 12:00cornhole tournamenT Big Red Barn 2:40 1/4 MILE TRACK/THURSDAY DIVISIONS PRACTICE BEGINS 12:40OPEN PRACTICE ENDS 3:15 GRANDSTANDS OPEN 12:45PRACTICE FOR FRIDAY DIVISIONS ONLY 3:25 QUALIFYING 1:45 PRACTICE ENDS 6:00 RACING STARTS 1:55 GRANDSTANDS OPEN • Hornet Heats (8 laps each) • Thunderstox Heats (8 laps each) • La Crosse Sportsmen Heats (8 laps each) • La Crosse Late Model Heats (8 laps each) • Super Late Futures Hooligan (15 laps) • B Features (8 laps) • Thunderstox Oktoberfest Feature (15 laps) • La Crosse Sportsmen Feature (20 laps) • Super Late Futures Feature (25 laps) • La Crosse Late Model Feature (40 laps) • Hornet Feature (15 laps) • Double-O Feature (6 laps each track) 2:00 QUALIFYING 2:15 PET COSTUME PARADE (Near Exhibition Hall) 5:00 RACING STARTS • Super Late Model Last Chances (12 laps) • Area Sportsmen Heats (8 laps) • Dick Trickle 99-Segment 1 (33 laps) • ASA Truck Heats (8 laps) • Area Sportsmen Last Chance (12 laps) • Dick Trickle 99-Segment 2 (33 laps) • Area Sportsmen Oktoberfest Feature (25 laps) • ASA Truck Oktoberfest Feature (25 laps) • Super Late Models The Stubby Feature (30 laps) • Dick Trickle 99-Segment 3 (33 laps) 9:30 CC106 AFTER-RACE PARTY IN EXHIBITION BUILDING FEATURING THE FREEZERS! 9:30 CC106 AFTER-RACE PARTY IN EXHIBITION BUILDING NOTE: ALL EVENTS & TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE NOTE: ALL EVENTS & TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE PLEASE NOTE: OPENS AT NOON MONDAY, OCTOBER 1ST 24-HOUR RESTROOMS & SHOWERS AVAILABLE! 18 Sorry, camping units not permitted on grounds until noon Monday.
