Bring a completed registration form along with cash or check made payable to “CITY OF PESHTIGO”, to City Hall. Registration forms are located at Peshtigo City Hall, local schools, financial institutions, or day care facilities. Please consult individual programs for fees. Families may put all members on one registration form. NO the program. PEE WEE T-BALL BASEBALL 3 Yr Olds Mondays 6:00pm-7:00pm 4 Yr Olds Wednesdays 6:00pm-7:00pm July 16th - Aug. 13th This program is used as a prep session for T-Ball Baseball. Parental involvement is always welcome. The program will use props to associate throwing, running, and catching. We try to end the day with a treat for the children. Make sure you bring your cameras and/or video recorders to capture that special moment. Believe me there will be some you won’t want to miss!!! PYB Field $4.00 City Resident $8.00 Non-Resident Children will be introduced to America’s favorite pastime through the T-Ball Program. Basic fundamentals of the game will be taught. Participants should bring a ball glove if possible. Having a glove is not mandatory. SWIM LESSONS June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 Busing to and from the pool will be provided by Kobussen Bus Lines. Pick up and drop off will be from the front door of the Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center. This program will coincide with the Summer School program run by the Peshtigo School District. 12:30pm-1:30pm $30 for 3 week session (includes busing) We have partnered with the River Cities Pool in Marinette to offer swim lessons. Pre-registration is required for this program. Limited to the first 40 children. TOT LOT CRAFTS 4-5 Year Olds Introduce your child to the wonder of the season through outdoor activities, and craft projects. Maximum of 15 Students Tuesdays & Thursdays June 26, 28 July 10, 12, 17, 19 12:30am-1:30pm PELC Cafeteria City Resident-$3.00 Non-Resident-$6.00 2 T-BALL BASEBALL 5-7 Year Olds 6:00pm-8:00pm Tuesdays & Thursdays PYB Field This co-ed program will introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of baseball through team play. Children will hit off a tee. July 10th - Aug. 9th Participation and learning are stressed. No scores are kept for games. We will adapt the program to the abilities of the children and scores will not be kept. The first 2 weeks will be used to develop skills. Age sessions will be broken down at the first date. Each session will last 1 hour. $5.00 City Resident $10.00 Non Resident SOCCER (Co-ed) K-3rd Grade Mondays & Wednesdays 1:00pm-2:00pm Badger Park Green Area We will introduce your child to the basic fundamentals of soccer through individual drill and game situations. Badger Park’s new green area is the new site for this activity. July 9,11,16,18, 23, 25 $5.00 City Resident $10.00 Non-Resident CREATIVE CRITTERS CRAFTS Your child is given the opportunity to enhance their creativity as they get involved in arts and crafts and outdoor activities. KOOL KATS CRAFTS 8 & 9 Year Olds Join the fun as your child has the opportunity to challenge themselves by getting involved in arts and crafts. Attendance is important to assure that class projects are completed. Maximum of 20 Students Tuesdays & Thursdays June 26, 28 July 10, 12, 17, 19 1:30pm-2:30pm PELC Cafeteria City Resident—$6.00 Non Resident—$12.00 MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 8-10 Year Olds Mondays and Wednesdays will be set up in the batting cage and defensive skills development will be made available. 9:30am—11:00am July 16th - Aug. 13th PYB With the new Peshtigo Youth Baseball Format in place we will use this time slot to work on individual skills with any boys or girls who wish to hone their skills. Instructors will be on hand at the Little League Field. The pitching machine 4 KRAZY KRAFTERS 10-12 Year Olds This class provides older children the opportunity to get involved in arts and crafts to create worthwhile projects. Attendance is important to ensure completion of all projects. Mondays & Wednesdays 2:00pm-3:00pm July 9, 11, 16,18, 23, 25 City Residents—$5.00 Non-Residents—$10.00 PLAYTIME FOR PRESCHOOLERS AGES: 2 YEARS OLD - 4 YEARS OLD Bring your child and stay to have fun while we read a book, do finger plays, create a craft and make a snack. We will even play some games. Parents and children need to wear play clothes. MONDAYS 6:00 P.M. - 7:15 P.M. June 18,25, July 2 City Residents - $5.00 Minimum of 5 children to have class. Parents need to stay with child during class. Non-Residents - $10.00 DREES COMMUNITY CENTER 5 GIRLS SOFTBALL (AGES 7-9) Games will be played in Marinette. Games will be played in Marinette or the Peshtigo Softball Field. 6 M & O BABE RUTH BASEBALL Boys ages 13, 14 and 15 will participate in Babe Ruth Prep and Babe Ruth Baseball. Both groups will play in the Marinette League which includes teams from Marinette, Menominee, Stephenson and Peshtigo. Games are played Monday— Thursdays. Regular season games run from May 29th—July 11th TENNIS (AGES 5 TO 14) A Co-ed Tennis Program will be held. This program will be open to children ages 5 - 14 years old. The children will be separated into age groups for instruction. Residents—$5.00 Non-Residents—$10.00 Age Division is as follows: 5&6 yr olds Wednesdays 7-9 yr olds July 11th - Aug. 8th 10 yrs and up 3:00pm-4:30pm Cancelled if raining TIME 2 PLAY- AGES 5-12 Come join your friends in organized games of kickball, baseball, relay games, water balloon games, and more. Be ready to get dirty (wear play clothes) and have fun as we play. You must register for each class. If an older child decides to leave the class, Peshtigo Recreation Department staff cannot provide continuing supervision, although site leaders will exercise reasonable efforts to retain children in supervised activities. Your child must be preregistered to attend. Minimum of 10 children needed to run program. Be sure to pick up your children) promptly at 3:30, as staff need to go to other scheduled activities. All concerts are free of charge and sponsored by local businesses. Bring a lawn chair, sit back and relax listening to some great music. Refreshments are provided by the Peshtigo Women’s Club. 8 PESHTIGO HIGH SCHOOL FITNESS CENTER The Fitness Center at Peshtigo High School will be available to the community during the summer months. At press time there was not a definite summer schedule available. Watch the local paper for set hours to use this facility. There are trained personnel on site at all times to help with questions or work with you to set your personal goals. PESHTIGO YOUTH BASEBALL All boys and girls ages 7-12 are welcome to participate in Peshtigo Youth Baseball Leagues. Action starts May 16th and runs until July 7th. Peshtigo Youth Baseball is an independent group that was formerly Little League. The Parks and Recreation Department works in conjunction with this group to maintain fields and organize an annual tournament using City of Peshtigo’s facilities. 3 separate leagues are run with ages 7-8 (Rookie League), ages 9-10 (Minor League) and ages 11-12 (Major League). 9 DISC GOLF Badger Park is home to a 9 hole Disc Golf Course constructed in the Summer of 2008. Play is free with some equipment available from the Caretakers Office located in Badger Park Campground Area. Please respect the other activities taking place in the pavilions and band shell areas of the park when applicable. 10 BAMC MENOMINEE RIVER CENTURY BIKE RIDE Ride starts at Marinette High School Sunday, June 24th, 2012 10, 25, 50, and 70 mile routes Cost: $30 includes t-shirt Children ages 12 and younger $20 Register online at www.mrcride.com FISHING DERBY — EVENT CANCELLED Children Ages 1-15 years olds Wal-Mart, Trout Unlimited, and the Peshtigo Recreation Department co-sponsor this event. Awards will be given out for the FIRST, LONGEST, BIGGEST, and MOST fish caught. Every participant will receive a fishing packet. DATE: EVENT CANCELLED FOR 2012 DUE TO RIVER DRAWDOWN We will conclude the day with a treat at the gazebo by the Peshtigo River. CHRISTMAS IN JULY The 2nd Annual Christmas in July Camping Weekend will be held July 26th—29th. Special rates apply for camping with a pay for (2) and get 3rd night free. Horse drawn sleigh rides are provided with prizes awarded for best decorated sites. Come enjoy the fun with the whole family. Groups are welcome. SKATE PARK Skate Park is located adjacent to the Peshtigo High School Football Field. The facility is open to the public daily from 8:00am—10:00pm. 11 VETERANS MENS SOFTBALL Monday Evenings First Game held at 6:30pm Mid June - Late August $175 Team Entry Fee $12.00 Individual Player Fee Veteans Men’s Softball Games are held on Monday evenings at the East Side Softball Diamond. PESHTIGO HISTORICAL DAY The Peshtigo Historical Day will be held on September 22, 2012. This event is a highlight of the summer/fall season. The all day event gets under way with a Fire Tower Run/Walk. A parade follows in the morning. From that point it is directly to Badger Park for an event filled day which includes a Horseshoe Tournament, bouncy rides for the kids, a rummage sale/flea market, continuous bands from 1:00pm10:00pm, the PHS Homecoming Football Game vs Wausaukee, and a Fireworks Display to top things off. A variety of food and refreshments are available on the grounds all day long. 12 PAVILION RENTALS The City of Peshtigo maintains 2 pavilions in City Park. Reservations can be made in person at City Hall or by calling 715-582-3041. The pavilions are available for rent from May 28, 2012 to October 1, 2012. Daily rates for New Large Pavilion are $35 for City Residents and $50 for Non-Residents. Small Pavilion rates are $50 for City Resident and $65 for Non-Resident. There is a returnable security deposit of $50 for Small Pavilion and $100 for Large Pavilion. COMMUNITY CENTER The Drees Community Center is located at 600 Pine Street. This building is available for rent by individuals as well as groups. There are 3 meeting rooms that can accommodate anywhere from 25—100 people. The facility is furnished with stoves and refrigerators. Reservations can be made by calling Peshtigo City Hall @ 715-582-3041 INTERNET ACCESS The City of Peshtigo is fully up and operational with its’ new website. Future issues of the Park and Recreation Quarterly Newsletter will be available on the website upon completion. We will continue to use the Peshtigo School District as a distribution source for our hard copy 13 newsletters. We thank Jim Meyer and Dave Bloch for their help. The site address for the City of Peshtigo is: ci.peshtigo.wi.us We are located under the “Park and Recreation” tab. We are hoping that this will allow for easier access to the general public in the ever changing and increased use of technology. CITY OF PESHTIGO Mayor - Al Krizenesky Parks and Recreation FEES AND CHARGES are assessed according to the needs of the program. Needs may include extra leadership, skilled instructors, or special equipment. Non-residents are defined as any person living outside the Peshtigo City Limits. CANCELLATION of programs held within school facilities will coincide when schools are closed for the holidays, inclement weather, or other emergencies. Program cancellations at other facilities will be aired over local radio stations. Those stations include: WMAM 570 AM, WAGN 1340 AM, WSFQ 96.3 FM and WHTB 103.7 FM. REFUNDS are not granted unless the department must cancel or change a program. This is for everyone’s protection. Peshtigo Recreation Department will respect your confidentiality. HOSPITAL/MEDICAL INSURANCE is not provided for persons participating in sponsored activities. Participants are encouraged to obtain their own insurance coverage through their agent of choice. FACILITIES: Locker and shower facilities are available at the High School. Bring your own towel and lock. The Peshtigo Recreation Department and/or Peshtigo School District is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings. EMPLOYMENT: Persons interested in working for the Parks and Recreation Department should contact City Hall to request an employment application form. The department will notify individuals when they are selected for employment. The department is always interested in persons possessing skills such as instructor, coach, officials, etc. Priority for employment will be given to residents of the City of Peshtigo whenever possible. FYI In cooperation with other local departments, additional programs offered are listed. INDOOR TENNIS is available in the TriCity Domes. SWIMMING LESSONS are offered through the Marinette Rec Department. Classes are held at the Civic Center. Available times for Marinette sites can be obtained by calling 732-5222. SWIMMING LESSONS are offered by the Marinette/Menominee YMCA at both Y locations. COMMUNITY FITNESS CENTER is available at Marinette High School. There are free weights, weight machines, and cardiovascular equipment. Hours of operation are Mon-Fri (11am-noon and 5pm-7pm) when school is in session. Passes are available from Marinette Recreation Department. 14 The events and facilities listed in this section are available within 5 miles of the Peshtigo City limits.
