SYNOPSIS
A motion is requested to approve an ammunition purchase for $25,772 from Kiesler Police Supply, Inc, of
Jeffersonville, IN. This is a joint purchase; the Village will make the purchase and will be reimbursed in
the amount of $12,489 by the City of Darien.
STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
The goals for 2011-2018 identified Steward of Financial Sustainability.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to the Village for this purchase will be $13,283. The FY13 budget includes $12,000 in the
General Fund for this expenditure. Sufficient budget authority exists in the Asset Forfeiture Fund for the
remainder of the purchase.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval on the February 5, 2013 consent agenda.
BACKGROUND
Over the past several years, the police department has purchased its practice/qualification ammunition in
bulk in an effort to secure better pricing. This year, staff placed an order in conjunction with the Darien
Police Department to obtain the best possible pricing for both municipalities.
A Call for Bids for the purchase of ammunition was published in accordance with the Village’s
Purchasing Policy. The Village received two submissions, but one of the vendors did not meet the bid
requirements. Therefore, Kiesler Police Supply, Inc. will be awarded the contract.
