This new resource will provide local clubs, coaches, officials and leaders with the relevant information regarding training opportunities on offer across South Ayrshire. In this edition we will highlight generic Continued Personal Development (CPD) workshops, sports specific Scottish Governing Body (SGB) courses and a range of other courses that can be delivered locally. One of the key priorities of the Sports Development Team is to develop local clubs, coaches, and officials. We strive to ensure that they receive the necessary direction and guidance to become stronger and more sustainable. To achieve high quality activities we require qualified and trained people. 3 01 Sports Development South Ayrshire Sports Development aim to increase participation in sport, while tackling issues of health, social inclusion, and disability, working with organisations and groups such as the NHS, sportscotland, Scottish Governing Bodies (SGB’s) of sport, Community Sport Hubs and Active Schools. Through experience and consultation we are able to target those who want to take part for fun, as well as those who are interested in competing at all levels, from local to national and international. > > > > > Developing People & Communities Club Support Increased Opportunities to Participate Health Referral Programmes Stronger Club Networks & Effective Pathways Information: 01292 612 391 / [email protected] 02 Community Sport Hubs Community Sport Hubs provide a home for sport. They focus on the clubs and other local organisations that want to work together to improve the sport offered in their local community. A community sport hub is focused on the clubs around a sport centre, community centre, school, park or a playing field pavilion. In some cases a community sport hub combines a number of these places, or it may simple centre on a single-venue hosting many clubs. The ‘hub’ is essentially a collective of progressive sport clubs working together in a local community. Each Community Sport Hub is unique but the common thread is that each works to the following five principles: > > > > > 4 Growth in participation Engage the local community Promote community leadership Offer a range of sporting opportunities Bring all appropriate (key) partners/groups/people together. Each community sport hub develops their own vision and values to ensure all involved are clear on the work they will do together, which is detailed in a simple, clear plan to improve the sporting provision within the community. In South Ayrshire there are currently 4 community Sport Hubs operating within the communities of Troon, Prestwick, North Ayr, Girvan & South Carrick .
