Join us for the Best Halloween Party in Town,
The Chills & Thrills “Fun”raiser!
Board of Governors
by Dr. Ryan M. Walton, Board President
With the kids back to school and the pool closed for the year, October always seems like the end of
summer. The days get shorter and the number of golfers dwindle. To look at the club schedule this
month, however, you would never guess that this is the start of a slow down.
The schedule this month seems to be focused around fine food and drinks, which is a great
transition into fall. With both Wine Tastings and themed dinners planned, this should get us all in
great eating shape for the holidays ahead.
Enjoy the change of the leaves around our beautiful golf course, and don’t forget to join your fellow
Members enjoying the culinary and social features this month. See you there.

I am happy to report that once we got past the rainiest June in history, the club’s usage for the
summer was at record levels. Member golf rounds, junior tennis and golf participation and overall pool
usage were all higher than we have ever experienced in the past, sometimes at overflow capacity. The
proverbial good problems to plan and adjust for next year.
With all the activities focused in the Club this summer, it’s great to be reminded of the contributions
Glenmoor makes to our community as a whole. Throughout the year, the club hosts and sponsors
events that benefit local charitable and civic groups. Two current examples are the Glenmoor Gathering
Reunion and the Chills and Thrills Halloween party. The Reunion’s total proceeds benefitted two great
local causes; Wishes Can Happen and the Driver Training Initiative to assist Canton schools students
in getting their licenses for work and school. The region’s most amazing Halloween party, Chills and
Thrills, benefits longstanding charitable institution JRC’s humanitarian efforts.
Events like these occur at Glenmoor the year ‘round and directly help many individuals in need in our community. We are
proud of the contributions of our Members and staff in making these events happen. If you are involved in a worthy group
and would like to explore how your Club could help benefit the organization, I encourage you to call our Member Events
Director, Lisa Sadeghian.
Member Events
By Lisa Sadeghian, Member Events Director
As I look to the remaining months of the year and what is on the calendar for Member Events
one thing stands out to me - Glenmoor Members are involved! Kicking things off in October with the
Ventruellas and their annual ever-so popular Lobsterfest, Mr. & Mrs. Ventruella sat down with Chef
Tom, Gail and myself working out every detail of the menu and the set-up for this special evening they
host each year, wanting it to be just perfect for all of you. Moving right into upcoming charity events on
October 31st and November 19th, we have Glenmoor Members planning a Halloween Party and a Star
Wars Movie Premier Party to help others in the community. And I cannot forget to mention the Family
Fall Fashion Show, Sunday, November 8th, organized by our Members who wanted to celebrate
Glenmoor families for an afternoon at the Club. All of these great events and opportunities come to
the Club through our Members! This is another reason why Glenmoor is the special Club that it is.
Thank you to everyone who has helped this year in some way with an event, and keep it up!
I appreciate YOU!!!

C.A.S.T and Glenmoor are excited to announce that
this year’s Glenmoor Caddy Mentor Golf Scholarship
Event will take place on Sunday, October 18th at 10am.
The Glenmoor family has always risen to the top in
terms of support for this annual event. This year it will
bless 5 of our student caddies with scholarship aid. Myron, Shawn, the Glenmoor staff, C.A.S.T, and the great
membership of Glenmoor make this all possible.
More details to follow, but if you are interested in any
level of sponsorship or participating in this year’s event,
please contact John Sypek at [email protected] or
Shawn Grimes in our Pro Shop. Thank you!
The next CAST meeting will be held on Oct 28 from
6:00-7:30 pm at the Sypek’s at 6619 Glengarry Ave NW,
Canton 44718.
Team Member of the Month
The entire golf staff is very proud to have Jason Jones voted as the employee of the month. Jason has
been a Glenmoor Team Member since the spring of 2014. Jason has touched most areas of the club since
then as he has worked at the front desk, spa, hotel, and housekeeping to go along with his service in the
golf locker room and grille room. That is six departments in a very short time and we are proud to have
him in the golf department this year as the Men’s Locker Room and Men’s Grille Manager. Jason has
truly brought a “Members First” attitude and a personal touch to customer service. Oddly enough, golf is
his favorite pastime even though he has had little time for it this golf season. If we are lucky, Jason will
have little time for golf for many years to come! Congratulations Jason, thanks for all of your dedication.

What’s Cooking?
By Tom Schrenk, Executive Chef
Hello Glenmoor! When the seasons change so does the food we eat. Please stop in and sample the
new dining room menus as they are rolling out. Fall is my personal favorite season as a Chef, so many
new flavors that have been hibernating all summer really come to life. As usual, October at Glenmoor
is full of fun and delicious events sure to have something for everyone. This month we are featuring two
Wine Society events “A Tour of South America Tasting” on October 1st and “Big Fat Cabs Dinner” on
October 15th. The “Big Cabs” is sure to be a treat, nothing pairs better with delicious food than
“Big Fat Cabs” and cool Fall weather, my staff and myself are really excited for this one.
This summer TGIF has been fantastic so were going out with a bang and hosting an Oktoberfest for
the final TGIF of the year on Friday, October 2nd. On October 16th, Mr. and Mrs. Venturella will be
hosting their annual Lobsterfest, be sure to make your reservations early for this event always fills up
quickly. Last, but certainly not least, on October 31st is the JRC Halloween Party, last year was a blast
and we are very excited to be hosting it again this year. As always please feel free to contact me if I can be
of culinary assistance of any kind. Have a great month everyone!

Fitness News
by Kristen Fitchko, Fitness Director
Safety in the Fitness Center
The gym equipment in the Fitness Center can help you build a strong, healthy body—but this
equipment can also cause serious injuries. In order to avoid injury and create an effective workout, be
mindful of the following:
• Improper Use: Equipment in the Fitness Center can be dangerous and cause injury if
used improperly. For example, poor form or overly heavy weight can cause a muscle pull or tear
requiring months of recovery. If you are new to exercise or unfamiliar with a piece of
equipment, ask one of our fitness professionals or schedule a session with our personal trainers to show you proper
use and form.
• Over-exerting: It’s easy to get excited about a new fitness regimen or push your limits to get a faster result.
But, while challenging yourself and testing your limits, be mindful of your progress and fitness level. For example,
increase your treadmill speed in small increments, or buildup your weights in small succession. Aim for a steady,
reasonable progression for a safe, effective workout.
• Proper Attire: To maintain a safe and optimal workout, the right attire is key. Proper workout clothing will
wick away sweat, display movements clearly, and protect sensitive skin. For example, the Under Armour apparel sold
in the Fitness Center is expressly geared towards these needs. Additionally, closed toe shoes are necessary to protect
your feet and toes when working around the heavy equipment and weights.
• Children in the Fitness Center: Children under 14 years old must be supervised by an adult when in the
Fitness Center. Also, it is the Fitness Center’s policy that children under 14 years old are not permitted to use the
Jacuzzi—regardless of parental supervision. The inherent dangers in the Fitness Center and Jacuzzi are exaggerated
for young children. Therefore, proper use and supervision are required.
By educating yourself and consulting with Glenmoor’s personal trainers, you can avoid injury and create an effective
workout. If you have any questions, or would like to schedule a session with a personal trainer, contact the Fitness Center
today at 330-966-3524.
