A gay mecca for decades, San Francisco
has much to offer GLBT visitors of every
type and interest. In addition to the worldfamous “gayborhood”—The Castro—we
have many gay businesses and venues
throughout the city. GayPocket San
Francisco is a useful resource to guide
you to our wide range of activities,
experiences and businesses.
San Francisco has long been steeped in
GLBT history. In addition to the legacy
of Harvey Milk, we are the home of the
Rainbow Flag, the AIDS Memorial Quilt,
one of the first Freedom Day (Pride) Parades, the longest ongoing GLBT theater
company (Theatre Rhinoceros) and more!
We recently completed the Castro street
redesign. Be sure to check out our wider
sidewalks with more trees, new lighting,
rainbow crosswalks and the new (yet
historical) Rainbow Honor Walk!
Experience it for yourself: take the Come
Out to the Castro walking tour, visit our
GLBT History Museum and other historical
institutions and attend a performance by
one or more of our community’s arts groups.
Enjoy our city, our culture and our (and
your) history. And come back soon!
