WARSAW CAPITAL OF POLAND
WARSAW
First and foremost, Warsaw is the capital of Poland, home to more than
1,800,000 residents, as well as to all of the government buildings and
institutions.
It is also "the sweetest of the Polish cities", (according to one of the
famous Polish songs about Warsaw) where things are always changing, and
life is very dynamic Warsaw is not the cold and dead city it used to be under
communism rule. Today with bustling Polish economy and freedom from
communist rule - the city has undergone a huge transformation process. Many
old communist buildings gave way to modern sky scrapers, dilapidating old
town was restored, entertainment and services transformed to match that of
other western capitals.
We are proud to present our conference and incentive manual for
Warsaw.
The manual features our conference and incentive products, which have
been developed in close practical cooperation with professional European
conference planners and incentive houses.
Welcome to Warsaw!

The Palace of Culture and Science is the largest
congress centre in Warsaw. The Palace halls can
accommodate over 4500 participants. Several dozens
of congresses and training sessions are being held
annually in the Palace conference halls. Every training
organizer will find here a place tailored to his needs:
starting with the largest - Congress Hall for 3000
persons, to smaller ones for 80 - 100 persons.
The Palace interiors are provided with a sound amplifying system and a unique
wireless Internet access. The latter enables several thousands computers to be
working on-line simultaneously. The Palace of Culture and Science offers over 10.
000 m2 exhibition and banquette space, as well as halls to held both large and
chamber concerts.
Extremely rich interior decoration: elegant, if not monumental, reception halls in one
line suite, with huge marble stairs, balconies, crystal chandeliers and classicist pillar
rows create an atmosphere not to be found in other places of this type in Warsaw.
This is a vast congress centre complex. The hall with balconies, stall boxes
and amphitheatre can accommodate 2800 persons. A large foyer is a good place
to hold an exhibition or a banquette. In the close vicinity there are two conference
rooms Mickiewicz and Puszkin, each for 80 persons; 12 smaller lounges
for up to 20 persons each, and VIP area. The Congress Hall, as well as smaller halls
within the complex, can be easily connected to the main exhibition areas on the 2nd,
4th and 6th floor, thus the arrangement and setting can be custom made to meet
individual clients' needs.

In 1624 The King of Poland Sigmund III Vasa, built the castle as it looks today,
with the intention of using it as his summer residence. The Ujazdowski castle
was burnt by the Swedish army in 1655. The powerful Lubomirski family, which took
over the castle afterwards, hired the architect Tylman van Gammeren to rebuild it.
He gave the castle the baroque style it has today. During the World War I,
the Ujazdowski castle together with surrounding it buildings served as a military
hospital. German army burnt the castle in 1944, during the WWII. The outside walls,
which were still standing after the war, were demolished in 1953, to give place
for never built Polish People’s Army Culture Centre. The Ujazdowski Castle
has been completely reconstructed and rebuilt in 1988.Today it houses the Centre
for Contemporary Art and is a possible venue for private events, conferences,
seminars, promotional events and banquets. The Castle houses a variety
of extraordinary spaces, each possessing its own unique atmosphere. The historical
cellars, intimate auditorium, and arcaded courtyard provide excellent
accommodations for the most singular of special events.

Dom Dochodowy on Trzech Krzyży Square,
Magda Gessler-a well-known interior and flavor
designer-has opened a new restaurant called Ale Gloria, which its owner hope will
highlight a new dimension of Polish cuisine by featuring sophisticated recipes
combined with more and less well-known traditional dishes in the Polish culinary
craft. In other words, this is a kind of Polish culinary "fusion. "Polish fusion" is also
the theme of the interior, with paper cut outs from the Kurpie region adorning a
modern elevator and antlers made of twigs and beads. The entrance is decorated
with Easter palms and other decorative elements include highlander ornaments and
lace tablecloths.

sublime.

It’s high time Warsaw had a commie
themed restaurant and you can’t get much
better than the Red Pig. The menus, printed
on newspaper, reveal filling Polish dishes
with names attached that honour the
baddies of the past: Mao Chicken and
Brezhnev kolduny to name a couple. Castro, Brezhnev and Lenin all dined here in
the past, and this resurrected brick and timber walled restaurant fizzes with
atmosphere. Pics of Soviet icons, marching anthems, carnations and red sashes
add to the time trip, but this is more than just a novelty restaurant aimed at one-off
visitors. The food is generally excellent with some portions verging on obscene.

Dance classes or jazz evening at “Fabryka Trzciny”
The building of Fabryka Trzciny, originally constructed in 1916, is one of the oldest
industrial sites located on Warsaw's east river bank, in the Praga district. In its early
days it housed a marmalade production facility, later becoming the headquarters of
the Polish Rubber Industry. It was this desolate and ruined factory that was
discovered by renowned composer, TV and music producer as well as cultural
director - Wojciech Trzcinski. He was
immediately spellbound by the unique,
atmosphere and magical aura enveloping
the buildings of the old factory. The idea
was to create a venue in which various
forms of art could come together and
transform it into an Artistic Center. Today
Fabryka Trzciny is a centre for arts and

Socialist time rally
Half day tour of Warsaw including the highlights of the “social realism”:
- Visit to the Palace of Culture (famous skyscraper commissioned by Stalin as a
gift from the Sovet people) and to its viewing platform on the 30th floor
- Tour of Praga, eastern suburb of Warsaw (kind of the worse part of the capital
perceived for many years of communist times as the place of living of the
underclass, now enjoying a snail –like renaissance)
- Visit to the Koneser vodka factory incl. vodka tasting at the end
the Koneser vodka factory has been producing vodka since 1897. Found on the
Praga side of the river, the distillery spawns over 16 million bottles every year,
and aside from producing their own brands Koneser also hold contracts to produce
distinguished vodkas like Finlandia and Sobieski. Employing over 150 people,
the factory uses specially filtered water from a spring 270 metres under the city
to distil its vodka. Walking amongst the conveyor belts and towering vats of vodka
provides a fascinating insight into the laborious process that goes into distilling
the devilish sauce. The Warsaw Vodka Factory specializes in producing high-grade
products (95 per cent of the whole production).

Workshops and theme tours in the Royal Castle
There are different ways of dealing with a group of visitors in a museum. The most
typical form is a guided tour or a more specialised "museum lesson - both impart
knowledge and appealing, above all, to the intellect. The visitor thus "sees"
the museum with his head - often his senses and his emotions play a secondary
role. However, a different approach is also possible, an approach where you rather
look to see than to learn, when it is important to experience a work of art than gain
knowledge about it. Such an attitude can be a source of artistic inspiration.
We propose a specific form of museum activity called a workshop, in which all
participants are encouraged to be active and creative.
The subject of such a workshop might be inspired by some aspect of history,
by a work of art, a building, or an element of interior decoration. At the beginning
the participants are encouraged to observe, to take a closer look at certain things.
Different exercises and tasks are assigned to help them achieve this aim.
What the participants have seen, what has aroused their interest is used by them
in the next stage of the workshop - that of artistic activity which is thought
as a natural, though guided response to what they have experienced.
The participants can express themselves by drawing, painting, collage, sound
movement depending on the subject of the workshop. We encourage them
to express themselves freely, so all forms of contest or criticism are avoided.
The workshop of Museum Activities is a part the Education Section of the Royal
Castle in Warsaw.
