Now Rick is here to tell the story of these streets as only he can with “M.I.Yayo”. “M.I.Yayo takes its name taken from the slang words for Miami and cocaine and is a groundbreaking documentary about the real Miami, true murder and cash capital of America, told in a manner stylistically similar to the History Channel’s “Gangland” or in the film “Cocaine Cowboys”, but this is much more by and of the Streets. Executive Producer Rick Ross brought in Chris Larceny to direct this true story of the ten biggest dope kings of the late 80s and early 90s in Miami. Ross narrates stories of notoriously iconic figures such as Quartz, Flowerman, Bo-Diddly, Bunkie Brown, Big Ike, Convertible Burt, Rick Brownlee and of course “Freeway” Rick Ross. The documentary also talks about Miami’s most notorious gangs Vonda, John Doe and the Boobie Boys. The “M.I.Yayo” soundtrack is included in this double-disc packaging and both the movie and the music are designed to be placed in Rick Ross section of your store for maximum exposure. The soundtrack features music from and inspired by “M.I.Yayo” with production by Street Radio and Jimi Kendrix who is no stranger to the streets himself having been raised up in Queens, NY. And the streets certainly know Kendrix with resume that includes Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Styles P, AZ, Bone, Thugs-N-Harmony, Jadakiss, Foxy Brown and many more! The musical backdrop supplied by Kendrix and Street Radio underscores the bleak and ultra violent story that unfolds on screen. Chris Larceny has spent years on the film and says that when he was approached by Ross to do this project, “I immediately started to research the history of Carol City, Overtown and Liberty City. After collecting footage for three years and putting the actual project together, I can truly say this will be ‘one of the best documentaries ever seen’. It’s not only about dope kingpins who came from nothing, it also covers the corruption in Miami, the Christmas Day killings, and turf wars all the way up to and including the telling of these events by the media. Not only are you getting a story about the streets, but the story is being told by the streets”. It tells the story of my family moving to Pasadena from Halifax and taking an oath that we wouldn’t join the Communist party. That’s the first thing I remember — standing next to my dad, and him becoming an American citizen." -Steve Poltz Steve Poltz's journey has just re-started with the release of "Traveling". The sky is the limit for this prolific writer and performer with a dual citizenship - that's right, two passports. Steve Poltz is the only songwriter in the world with the range to have written tunes with Jewel ("You Were Meant For Me" ...the longest charting song in Billboard history), Glen Tillbrook ("Hot Shaved Asian Teens"), and Mojo Nixon ("UPS My Heart"). Currently, another song he co-wrote, "You Remind Me", is featured in a national Jeep commercial (the "Sandbox" ad). Poltz, who pioneered punk-folk music as the front man for The Rugburns, is a unique and gifted singer-songwriter with a colorful past whose live performances are mesmerizing and whose recorded material has been consistently critically acclaimed. Backed by Kentucky Thunder and a few special guests, Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby (Sony/Legacy) draws from deep roots in mountain music - adding piano and Hornsby's inimitable songwriting to the core bluegrass lineup of mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle, and banjo. A major CMT Crossroads special accompanied the album, released in March of 2007. Ricky Skaggs has often said that he is "just trying to make a living" playing the music he loves. But it's clear that his passion for bluegrass puts him in the position to bring this lively, distinctively American form of music out of isolation and into the ears and hearts of audiences across the country and around the world. After rehearsals and shows around the UK and Europe and a classic Mad Professor collaboration already under his belt, Pato went on to record his second album “Never Give In!” It is this record that remains Pato’s best selling record to date and the most celebrated by the numerous American musicians who have come to proclaim him among their greatest influences. The Beastie Boys famously sampled the lyric “I do not sniff the coke I only smoke sensimilla” on their Paul’s Boutique record. And, Queen Latifah’s biggest hit “U.N.I.T.Y.” was a direct interpolation of Pato’s original lyrics as well. Everyone from Sublime to Jack Johnson to Damian Marley to countless others continue to hold Pato and his influence in the highest of regard. After years of chart success and continuous touring, Pato decided to step away from the music business and continue on his path of Positivity. In the comfort of his own home studio, Pato acquired the help of long time friend and top producer Paul Horton to recorded his tenth album “Life is a Miracle”, which gained a Grammy Nomination and clearly defined the lyrical, musical, and spiritual growth of this outstanding artist. Today, after having his time away from the business, Pato has gained back the reverted rights to his masterpiece “Never Give In” and has selected independent Reggae- loving SoCal based Cornerstone Recording Arts Society, to re-release a 20th anniversary edition of this gem, with updated special packaging and some bonus tracks. And, with great enthusiasm, Pato continues to tour relentlessly, backed by the Mystic Roots Band (voted top Reggae Band by the Los Angeles Music Awards). Dates with Matisyahu, 311, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and the Wailers in 2007 are fine examples of the clout this legend carries and signs of where the triumphant return of Pato Banton is headed. "Go Whiskey" has the high, lonesome shiver of an old Townes Van Zandt record, except without any obvious country affectations. If your idea of staying warm on a winter night is a bottle of bourbon and a bleak memory, Tall Firs will make excellent company. “ -ROLLING STONE After a 2006 debut, which drew accolades from Rolling Stone, Vice, NME, Q, and Harp amongst others, Tall Firs return with a second dose of songs showcasing a new non-drowsy formula in their sophomore release Too Old to Die Young. First record masterminds Dave Mies and Aaron Mullan have now been joined by drummer Ryan Sawyer as the third full-time Fir, and the results are like a fine cough syrup: A confusing, bittersweet concoction laced with just enough speed to keep you feeling a bit better about the world of sickness closing in around you. Too Old to Die Young maintains the lugubrious lyrical stylings Tall Firs accolades demand. The band are unafraid to invoke the pocket-orchestra balladry of the first record, tastily accomplished on songs like 'Secrets + Lies' and 'Good Intentions.' But several new strands have entered the gene pool as well, and the outcome is no chimera of crudely assembled influences, but a cohesive new beast. TRACK LISTING: 1. So Messed Up 2. Blue in the Dark 3. Harido 4. Good Intentions 5. Warriors 6. Lookout 7. Loveless 8. Hippies 9. Secrets and Lies Like its 16-years in the making predecessor, Too Old to Die Young took time to happen. Certain songs date from 2001, and recording proper started January 2005. Between that time and the album's completion the band criss-crossed North America twice, performed at All Tomorrow's Parties in the UK, opened dates in Europe for Shellac, and did a short headlining tour of England. TRACK LISTING: 1. Braille Graffiti 2. Be Here Forever 3. Killer 4. Happy Unhappy 5. Heartbreak 6. Melt Away 7. Dark 8. Simple Things 9. The Shrug 10. Sermons God Fires Man are four like-minded souls, united by a common ability to produce a perfect punch of intelligent, melody-driven, intense alt-rock the way far too many have forgotten. Cutting their teeth in an array of previous bands - Arty from the critically acclaimed Errortype:11 and Instruction, Joseph from Garrison and the debauched, sexually deviant Gay for Johnny Depp and Drew Thomas from Into Another and Walking Concert – the gentlemen from God Fires Man have sampled both the delights and downfalls of being in a band. From playing both anarchist squats and sold out tours and festivals in front of tens of thousands to being wined and dined by major labels with empty promises and failed commitments, they’ve seen all corners of an everchanging industry and channelled these experiences into their music. The result is a rounded mix of influences from Museesque epic soundscapes to the experimental walls of noise of early nineties Smashing Pumpkins with a nod to shoe-gazing heroes My Bloody Valentine. A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun was recorded with Ethan Dussault (Cave-In, Lot 6) and Brian Virtue (Audioslave, Deftones, Jane’s Addiction). Originally formed in 1997 for Easy Star’s first recordings, the Easy Star All-Stars existed primarily as a studio entity until releasing Dub Side of the Moon in 2003. The success of that album – still sitting on the Billboard Reggae Chart five years later – led to a dedicated touring version of the collective. In 2006, the ESAS released a follow-up, tackling Radiohead’s OK Computer (renamed Radiodread). This album has had similar success, solidifying the band’s reputation for experimentation, originality and incredible live shows. TRACK LISTING: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Got To Get Away Bed of Roses Like the Stars Until that Day The Finest Dubbing Up the Walls showcasing the band’s diversity. The EP was produced by Easy Star All-Stars founder Michael Goldwasser with the band. The tracks were recorded between 2007 tours that brought the band to the UK, Ireland, Egypt, Poland, Italy and Turkey. The five tracks included here were all written by members of the band and, in some cases, have been in their live sets since 2003. The four vocalists in the group (Junior Jazz, Ras I Ray, Tamarkali and Menny More) all sing leads here, KEY SELLING POINTS: o o o 6 Campus servicing Dedicated fanbase Heavy online presence Catalogue Number Price Code Label RIYL ES1016 N Easy Star/Fontana North Robotiks, Dave Hahn Bar Code Format File Order Due CD Reggae February 28, 2008 Box Lot G.C.
