Arrington Vineyards
Fall Cruise In
Solid Gold
in the driver’s seat
with Frank Hodges, President
Where did summer go? September is here, summer is gone,
but we have had a busy and full schedule of activities. Michele organized a great day drive to Arrington Vineyard in
early August. For all who stayed late into the afternoon
at Arrington vineyard a special guest made a surprise visit
for a photo opportunity. Kix Brooks, of Brooks and Dunn
and owner of Arrington vineyard, stopped by to talk about
cars and wine with us - mostly cars. Kix’s longtime automobile of choice also has a horse in the crest but is referred
to as the prancing horse. Yep, his favourite car is crafted
in Maranello Italy: Ferrari. He is still a good guy. Kix is
interested in driving with us the next time we host a Drivers
Education. We’ll keep you posted, as we get closer to DE if
Kix will indeed join us or not. We have some of the photos
from the Arrington drive included on both the website and
in this newsletter. I hope you enjoy.
We are keeping the pace turned up through September and
beyond. Vic Davis, Club Treasurer, has a wonderful trifecta
planned for us mid-September. Vic has planned a day drive
to Ashland City for a cruise on the Blue Heron, dinner, and
drive-in movie. See Vic’s trifecta article in this newsletter.
We hope you can join us for this very special event. In October Michele Hodges, Activities chairperson, has arranged
for a club night at Lane Motor Museum for our club meeting. For those who have never toured the Museum, you are
in for a very special treat. Jeff Lane, Owner of Lane Motor museum, has amassed a unique collection of rare and
unusual European and American “transportation vehicles.”
Cars, motorcycles, mopeds, amphibious cars, military, as
well as many racecars are only a partial listing of the types
of cars Jeff has on display. Please note that for October,
our meeting will be on Monday night since that’s the availability of Lane.
Oktoberfest in September! You guessed it, the next club
meeting will be held at the Gerst Haus on Tuesday 8 September from 6:30 pm. The Gerst Haus staff are sure to have
several beer steins frozen and waiting for your favourite
Deutschland pint. They’ll have plenty of Brats on the grill
to go with those pints! Oh, I meant to say your favourite
beverage of choice.

Club Name Tags
The Musik Stadt Region has made it’s first set of name tags earlier
this summer. It was a one time offer to club members who would like
to have name tags for our events as well as attending other events
within the PCA. We have had a number of people who did not get in
on the original order but would really like to have a name tag. Therefore, we are going to make one more series of name tags for those
members. So if you would like to purchase a club name tag, we have
the above style name tag available for $6 per tag. The tag is black
in color with the logo and name in white (just the reverse of what
is above) If you would like to have one of these great looking name
tags, send your name as you would like it on the name tag, specify
whether you want the stick pin type or the magnetic type and send
$6 per tag to Vic Davis, Club Treasurer, 1524 Crockett Hills Blvd.,
Brentwood, TN 37027. Our goal is to have everyone respond by the
end of September and have the names tags completed and available
for pick up at the October meeting.

MusikStadt Trifecta - Blue Heron Riverboat Cruise,
Catfish Dinner & Drive-In Movie
Here is your chance to engage three very enjoyable things on the same day ! A perfect Trifecta ! We’ll start out on Saturday, Sept 19th at 2:30 p.m. at the Loveless Cafe parking lot at 8400 Hwy 100,
Nashville, TN. First, we plan on pulling out at 2:45 p.m. and heading through some really
nice back roads to Ashland City to hook up with the Blue Heron Riverboat
Cruise at 4 p.m. (www.blueheroncruises.com)
This will be a relaxed 2-hour cruise on the beautiful Cumberland River in
the Ashland City area. There is a portable restroom on board the Pontoon
Boat, as well as facilities in the restaurant. Feel free to bring wine or drinks
on board the boat, but responsibility is encouraged, so we don’t have to pull
your butt out of the water !
Second, after the cruise ends, we will enjoy a delicious Catfish Dinner (or almost anything else) at the Riverview Restaurant (www.blueheroncruises.com/
Riverview) located at 110 Old River Road (also the port of the Blue Heron) in
Ashland City. You can find a full menu at the above website. The Riverview
is a favorite place for locals who really know good catfish when they taste it.
Third, after eating dinner, we will hit the road again and drive to the Dickson Drive-In in Dickson, TN. The features will be announced, but we know
you’ll enjoy the movie no matter what is showing. Be sure and plan on bringing your chairs-in-a-bag, a
Boom Box, some bug spray and possibly a light jacket, as the nights cool down. VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!! The Blue Heron only has 24 seats on it, so it will be First Come, First Served
on a reservation to Vic and Judy at [email protected]. Please include your name, phone
number, and email address in your RSVP. We will notify the first 24, and keep the next 10 on a standby list. If you don’t make the list of 24, you can still meet us for dinner at 6 p.m. at Riverview and join
us for the Drive-In. The cost for the Blue Heron Cruise is $8.50 per person. After confirmation of RSVP, please send check
made out to “MusikStadt” and send to Vic Davis, 1524 Crockett Hills Blvd., Brentwood, TN, 37027.
Note: The Blue Heron and Riverview dinner are a “rain-or-shine” event. In event of general rain, we
will cancel the Drive In Movie.

President’s Message cont ...
Michele and I are off to North Georgia this Labor Day weekend once again to Rennfest hosted by the Peachstate region.
Rennfest is one of the premier Zone 3 events of the year.
This year the event will once again be held at Brasstown Valley resort and spa located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of
Georgia. Activities at Rennfest include Concurs d’elegence,
Time Speed Distance (TSD) Rally, Autocross, and an RC autocross for those young in age or heart. We hope to represent Musik-Stadt well and bring back several good trophies.
Tradition at Rennfest also includes a Pink Pig for literally the
last car to complete the TSD. It is our sincere desire to never
“win” the pig! I hope you can join Michele and me if not this
year maybe next year.
Don’t forget to check the discussion topics now offered on
our Google discussion forum. Send an email to Bill Wright
at [email protected] for access to the
discussion.
As always, we want your feedback on activities, meeting
venues, speakers, and more.
Until next time, see you behind the wheel,
Frank

Legendary Porsche performance with four

of something.
No one has the capacity to break the rules more than
Porsche. And now, the new Panamera. The legendary
sports car driving experience built for four. The staggering
Porsche power is unmistakably present. As is the relentlessly
precise handling. And with the addition of a second row of
executively seated passengers, there’s no end to the rules
you can break. Porsche. There is no substitute.
The Panamera.
Experience pure Porsche performance for four.

Latest News from
Porsche of Nashville
Introducing the Porsche Moment.
By Mike Gillespie – Dealer Liaison
An exceptional opportunity
There is a lot of excitement at Porsche of Nashville with
the soon to be released Porsche Panamera as well as some
of the other 2010 models including a 2010 GT3. Additionally, the dealership has brought in some interesting
pre-owned Porsches as well, including a 2007 GT3 RS.
to seize 1.9% APR financing*
James Corlew, the General Manager of Porsche of Nashville, has asked me to communicate to our Club Membership that if you are interested in purchasing and new
or pre-owned vehicle, please go to him directly for assistance. James wants to personally see that we are given
a first class experience in the purchasing process of our
new car.
James and his staff at the dealership are excited in some
of the recognition that they have been receiving of late.
Porsche of Nashville has been nominated for the most improved Porsche dealership in the country. Their customer
service satisfaction numbers have been increasing on a
monthly basis. Porsche of Nashville is only 1 of 2 Porsche
dealerships in the country to have year over year growth.
(this is under the time period of being owned by Sonic
Automotive)
The dealership is continually handing out PCA Membership applications to new Porsche owners and helping our
club grow.
The new Porsche Panamera is set to arrive at Porsche of
Nashville the third week in October with the national unveiling on October 17th. James has told me that he will
be hosting a private, Musik stadt members only, pre-unveiling of the new Panamera before anyone else in Nashville will get to see it. I will update everyone on the details
as time draws near.
On November 13th, Porsche of Nashville will be hosting a benefit for the Ronald McDonald House at the dealership. This event centers around a number of donated
goodies that will be available for bid in a silent auction.
The Musik Stadt Region is invite to participate in this
great event for a worthy cause. Additional details to come
soon.

2009 CAR SHOW PRESS
RELEASE
Collector, classic and special interest cars and trucks are returning to Franklin,
Tennessee on Saturday, October 17, 2009 for the 20th annual Williamson County based
Antique Automobile Club of America (A.A.C.A) Battlefield Region’s Antique/Collector
Car & Truck Show. Approximately 225 cars will be on display to the south of the Cool
Springs Galleria just outside the Sears store. It is open to anyone with a 2007 vehicle
or older that they would want to display and have judged. Auto Wash Express, located
in Cool Springs and Spring Hill, is the major sponsor of the show again this year.
Car enthusiasts will have plenty to view. Antiques, trucks, muscles cars, street rods,
imports and even military vehicles are scheduled to be on display in (41) judged
classes. Trophies will be awarded to the top three cars in each class. Other specialty
awards will be given as well.
Continuing this year is a separate class for vehicles owned by Battlefield Region club
members. Here the top five favorite People’s Choice vehicles will be chosen by ballot
of spectators and participants alike.
A featured marque paying tribute to a specific vehicle is also part of the show. This
year’s marque is the Ford Mustang…celebrating its 45th anniversary. Owners of these
vehicles are encouraged to enter their cars for special recognition.
Vehicle registration is $15 and starts at 8:00AM and closes at 12 Noon sharp. Judging
begins soon thereafter with trophy presentations at approximately 2:30PM. Spectator
admission and parking is FREE. Refreshments and freshly made sandwiches will be
offered for sale at the club’s centrally located concession tent.
A D.J. will “spin” oldies throughout the day. Shopping is close at hand in the shops of
the Cool Springs Galleria. Franklin’s antique district and downtown shopping areas are
easily accessible by the Franklin trolley. New vehicles will be on display from local
retailers, as well.
So, bring out the whole family to enjoy the cars, fabulous food and music by attending
this fall tradition in Franklin…the A.A.C.A.-Battlefield Region Car Show sponsored by
Auto Wash Express on Saturday, October 17, 2009. There will be something to do for
everyone!!
For more information on entering your vehicle in the show, call J. W. Irvin on 615-9740990 or Bob Speights on 949-500-2324. To join the ninety six (96) other members of
the Battlefield Region Club, call Bob Seedlock on 615-377-6378. If you desire to be a
presenting or class sponsor, please call Mike Gillespie on 615-771-4868 or Paul White
on 615-352-1344. Additional information can be gained by viewing the club’s website
at www.battlefieldaaca.com.
As in years past, part of the show proceeds will benefit local Williamson County
charities and deserving non-profit organizations.
