INFORMATION

Due to the high demand for our programs, we register using a randomized process. Registrations turned in by the deadline
will be randomly drawn and processed in that order. If you are new to our program or are registering after the deadline,
please contact the office to see what programs are available and make payment arrangements.
Registration Policy
• Please either mail or hand deliver your registration form by March 23 at 10 am to South Park Community Center.
We do not recommend sending via fax.
• Due to our randomized registration, do not send in payment, including camp deposits, with your registration form.
• Before you register, please complete your scholarship forms, fee reduction requests and payment arrangements.
• We do not accept “drop-in” or unregistered participants.
• You may staple your form to one of your friends’ forms to participate in the same activities.
• No substitutions for participants.
• We do not take registrations over the phone.
• Please see below for confirmations and payment dates and times. We will not call you to notify you of your registration(s).
Payment Policy
• All payments are due by March 29 at 6 pm.
• Payment methods accepted: cash, check, credit, debit, DSHS, online and payment arrangements with pre-approval.
• Customer service staff will be at STAR Center on March 28 from 10 am - 6 pm and March 29 from 4 - 6 pm to take payments and issue receipts.
• To save on costs, we do not mail receipts.
• If you add courses after the deadline, they must be paid in full before start of activity.
• Refunds will not be made for missed sessions.
• Your account will be charged a fee in the amount of $5 for each late payment, late registration, unregistered participant
arrival or attendant no-show for outings.
Attendant Staffing (1:1, aids, chaperones, care provider) *
Metro Parks staff provides leadership to our programs and trips. Staff ratios vary depending on the program. We are unable
to provide attendant care, such as assistance using the restroom, personal transfers, eating or dispensing your medication.
Your staff may accompany you for your support if you need this type of assistance. Staff must be pre-registered. Some outings will require a attendant/staff registration fee and they may also be responsible for any admission or other charges.*
Metro Parks will often pay for tickets in advance to secure seats. We want you to be successful in programs and we’ll help
you find a solution. However, in some situations it may become necessary for you to bring an attendant. *These outings
are marked with an asterisk. Call (253) 404-3950 for information and fees.
Arrival and Departure Times
For your safety, we want to alert you of the staff schedule. Our activity sites are not staffed more than 30 minutes before
and after the published program time. If you arrive earlier than that, you will be unaccompanied and unsupervised. If our
staff is required to wait with you longer than 30 minutes past the ending time for activities, a service fee will be charged to
your account, at the rate of $20 per hour.
Cancellation Policy
• If you need to cancel an outing, you must notify us at least 5 business days before the trip to get a refund; minus deposit fees.
• Call (253) 404-3950 or check MetroParksTacoma.org/Specialized thirty minutes prior to outing to see if program is cancelled due to weather.
Behavior Policy
Metro Parks staff are dedicated and trained to assist all participants to have a successful experience at all activities.
However, we are not equipped to deal with significant behavioral issues. All participants must be able to function in a
group environment with limited supervision. If closer supervision is necessary, a caregiver or chaperone is welcome to
accompany the participant. Unacceptable behaviors include but are not limited to self abuse, physical or verbal abuse
towards others, violent behaviors, profanity and a constant unwillingness to participate in activities. Noncompliance
with behavior standards may result in the requirement of a caregiver accompaniment during future activities or possible
dismissal from activities.
