The Parrot Feature Band June `08 – Highway To Hell
The Parrot Feature Band June ‘08 – Highway To Hell
By Jack Gray
Normally I don’t spotlight bands that do not play at least some original material. Now I do appreciate a good cover band that gets it right, and I’ve seen some
tribute bands that were pretty entertaining. It’s just tough for me to really get
behind a tribute band, especially when the original is still making music and going on tour. Unless they are dead on, and put something of themselves in their
performance I’d rather see the real thing. With that said, this month I just had
to do my feature on an act that is not only dead on, but is endorsed by the very
band’s members that they emulate. Now that’s mighty big task, considering the
band they tribute is one of the greatest, best selling, and long lasting acts in rock
history, the legendary AC/DC. The AC/DC tribute band “Highway To Hell”
(H2H) performs an authentic rock show that is a re-creation of the RAW POWER and Energy of an AC/DC concert. You will be awed by the looks, moves, and
sound of their performance.
Since 2004 this Florida-based AC/DC tribute band, has been on a Rock-N-Roll
mission! That mission is to provide the best, most authentic AC/DC Tribute Show
for events, clubs, and large venues in Florida and across the US. The band performs in full costume with authentic gear, and has a font-man that has a 4-octave
range, and a stage show that is second to none! The set list includes all of the hit
songs and classics spanning 30 years of material. This is not just a “band” it is a
ROCK SHOW! Since its inception, the band has put together a successful track
record of performances. Lead Vocalist Martyn Jenkins is from Wales, and Rod Vincent on Rhythm Guitar is from the
UK also and both have tribute experience previously. Martyn successfully re-creates the vocal intensity of both Brian
Johnson and Bon Scott and he will keep a crowd crazy and drinking all night with his hilarious stage banter and fantastic vocals! The authentic costumes and high-energy stage presence will make any crowd rub their eyes in disbelief
because they look just like AC/DC! The band has been headlining in venues in the all over Florida, and has played
to thousands of crazy fans! They have done gigs several times at the biggest biker venue in Myrtle Beach, and have
been a headline act at many large festivals already including; Daytona Bike Week, Biketoberfest, Thunder By The Bay,
The Gasparilla Pirate Invasion, Starke Bike Fest and more!
H2H is not just an average copy-band they are the ULTIMATE AC/DC tribute band. The ultimate compliment to
this incredible act was to have their real heroes get on stage with them during their show. Both AC/DC’s singer Brian
Johnson and bassist Cliff Williams have welcomed them with open arms and even performed with them at their special
Irish Rover Sarasota show. The Parrot was with them during Gasparilla Fest. in February, then again at Giving Hunger
The Blues in Sarasota in March when they rocked thousands to raise money for this hugely popular charity event.
They have opened for, and supported, many national acts too such as; Iron Maiden Drummer Nicko McBrain’s
“McBrain Damage”, Jani Lane of Warrant, Lillian Axe, Guns N Roses, Papa
Roach, Sebastian Bach, Cinderella, Poison, and Firehouse! They play all of
the top venues in Florida such as Jannus Landing, St. Pete Times Forum,
Bourbon Street in New Port Richey, Freebird Live in Jacksonville, The Lakeland Center, Floyds Tallahassee, and many more, especially in the Sarasota
and Tampa B ay areas. They are already set to play several dates scheduled
throughout Florida this summer. You can find out exactly where they will be
next, book the band for a show, see photos and videos from their shows, plus
much more on their website at: www.highwaytohellrocks.com. So it is onwards and upwards for Highway to Hell in 2008, with new
shows to do, new rooms to play, and more fans to ROCK! From all of us at
The Parrot, WE SALUTE YOU!
