Maliniac funding supports:
Research – Clinically relevant research is at the heart of the specialty’s growth
Education – Supporting the International Scholars program, furthering member
surgeons’ education
Registry Data – Providing data tracking to improve patient care, outcomes and
satisfaction, supporting the requirements of data-driven outcomes
Humanitarian Initiatives – Supporting the charitable service of plastic surgeons
who lend their highly specialized skills to the world’s neediest children and adults
Community Giving –Funding charitable grants to increase awareness of breast
reconstruction and providing surgical care for women who otherwise could not
afford breast reconstruction
MALINIAC…Honoring one of the forefathers of plastic surgery
Jacques Maliniac, MD
…one of the founders of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)
Born in 1889 in Warsaw, Poland, Dr. Maliniac
came to the United States in 1923 and settled in
New York City. In 1925, he opened a thriving
private practice and convinced administrators
of the City Hospital system to establish the first
division of plastic surgery at a public hospital.
In October 1931, Dr. Maliniac and Gustave
Aufricht, MD, invited other surgeons in the
developing field of plastic surgery to join them
in founding the American Society of Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgeons (now the ASPS).
Dr. Maliniac worked hard to get the new
association off the ground, even holding many
of its first meetings in his office.
In honor of his commitment to the specialty,
the Maliniac Circle is The Plastic Surgery
Foundation’s most prestigious recognition society.

The Maliniac Circle Supports the National Endowment
for Plastic Surgery…a medical endowment for the perpetuation
of achievement in plastic surgery.
A fund within The PSF, The National Endowment for Plastic Surgery
(NEPS) is a fund restricted to support research and designed to ensure
the continuity of innovations across the specialty.
All contributions to the Endowment are added to the principal of
the fund and remain there in perpetuity. The Endowment remains
intact, and only the income generated from prudent investment of
the principal funds research, technology and programs targeting the
efficacy and safety of surgical procedures.

Cash Donation: The simplest way to give with immediate impact on the specialty. Pledge: Divide your donation into installments over a designated number of years.
You show your commitment as a Maliniac with the latitude to donate over time.
Appreciated Securities Contribution: Perfect for the tax-conscious Maliniac, any
long-term appreciated securities with unrealized gains may be donated to The PSF,
allowing for a tax deduction taken for the full market value of the securities. Since the
securities are donated rather than sold, capital gains taxes from selling the securities
no longer apply. Please consult your tax professional for full details.
Insurance Policy: Popular with Maliniacs who are still early in their career, a life
insurance policy allows you to give an affordable yet substantial gift. Establish a new
policy naming The PSF or NEPS as the owner and beneficiary and make premium
payments directly to The PSF – or – purchase and maintain the policy but specify
The PSF or NEPS as the beneficiary.
Bequest: Designate The PSF or NEPS as the beneficiary in your will, trust or other
investment instrument. This allows you to maintain control of your assets during your
lifetime as you to make a legacy gift to the Maliniac Circle.
