It’s time for these winter birds to start showing up at your
feeders. Dark-eyed Juncos are little sparrows that flit about
forest floors of the western mountains and Canada, then fly
southward for winter.

are interested in participating in leagues. Ext. 203.
Group Golf Outings are Great Fun!
The Innsbrook Pro Shop can help you plan a golf tournament
for groups of 16-144 golfers on our championship course.
Innsbrook will facilitate the planning, organizing and
operating of the tournament. Learn more at
www.innsbrook-resort.com/golf/outings. Ext. 203.
They’re easy to recognize by their crisp (though extremely
variable) markings and the bright white tail feathers they
habitually flash in flight. One of the most abundant
forest birds of North America, you’ll see juncos on woodland
walks as well as in flocks at your feeders or on the ground
beneath them.
Dark-eyed juncos are birds of the
ground. They hop around the bases
of trees and shrubs in woods or
venture out onto lawns looking
for fallen seeds. You’ll often hear
their high chip notes, given almost
absentmindedly while foraging, or
intensifying as they take short, low
flights through cover.
Coming Soon to the Pro Shop
Watch the Village Views for upcoming news on 2015 Birdie
Passes and new fall merchandise arriving this month. Shop
the Innsbrook Pro Shop for all your holiday gift-giving
needs! Gift wrapping available. Ext. 203.
Golf Bundles Make Great Gifts
Take care of your holiday shopping ahead of time by
purchasing golf bundles from the Innsbrook Pro Shop. Golf
three rounds with a cart for $99; five rounds with a cart for
$149; or ten rounds with a cart for $269. These rounds are
valid anytime Monday–Friday and after noon on weekends
and holidays; can book future dates. Prices do not include
tax. Ext. 203.
The male junco has an un-streaked
white belly; dark gray head; pink bill and legs; white outer
tail feathers; and no wing bars. The female junco is similar to
the male but paler. Juncos, which appear in two color forms,
are abundant throughout Missouri during winter.
Does your yard provide shelter for winter birds? Whether it’s
a safe place for sleeping, a protected haven from the
elements, a hiding place to elude predators, or a secure
nesting spot, providing shelter is an important way to make
your property bird-friendly.
