Collect documents needed, including income tax returns and W-2. 2. Get a pin number from www.pin.ed.gov if you plan to file electronically. 3. Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Apply online by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov, or visit www.sanjac.edu for financial aid information. 4. Review the Student Aid Report (SAR) sent to you and make changes or corrections as needed. 5. The San Jacinto College financial aid office may contact you if you have been selected for verification. If so, submit the appropriate information. 6. Make sure the financial aid office at San Jacinto College has all the information they need to determine your eligibility. 7. Review award letters from schools to compare aid. Decide which schools to attend based on how well the school suits your needs and its affordability. Students can complete courses online, or can take courses that are part on campus and part online. INVENT Each year, Community College Week magazine releases a report on the nation’s community colleges, ranking the Top 100 or the Top 50 based on data gathered from the United States Department of Education. From more than 1,000 community colleges nationwide San Jacinto College ranked 36th as an associate degree producer in 2011. In addition to the top 40 overall ranking, several San Jacinto College programs rank among the nation’s top 100 as well. Students who expect to receive veterans benefits while attending school should contact the San Jacinto College Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success located on the campus they will attend. Other areas of the College that placed within the top 100 include construction trades, education, social sciences, visual and performing arts, and health professions. San Jacinto College’s minority student population is comprised of 40 percent Hispanic, 10 percent black, and 5 percent Asian. The Top 100 Degree Producers lists are based on the review of 2009-2010 U.S. Department of Education preliminary data.
