About Benedictine
The Benedictine Promise
Benedictine University promises its students an affordable and attainable undergraduate and graduate education infused with
the Benedictine values, faculty who make student learning their first priority, a support system dedicated to their success,
comprehensive preparation to enter the job market, and a diverse, caring community in which they can become better learners,
better leaders and better world citizens.
College of Education and
Health Services
College of Liberal Arts
A well-balanced study of the arts, humanities
and social sciences combined with a practical, yet
innovative way of looking at the world — that is
what we promise our students. Our dedicated and
accomplished faculty and contemporary programs
build upon our Benedictine values and heritage of
academic excellence to prepare students for entry
into any number of fields through which they can
critically affect their local communities and the
world at large.
Improving health and education is a
critical concern for every community. The
College of Education and Health Services
helps students seeking to make a difference
in these areas by developing their sense of
service, enhanced by the Benedictine value
of concern for others. Our undergraduate
and graduate programs provide students
with the necessary tools to become
competent, ethical and innovative
professionals in fields that support the
physical and intellectual well-being of
individuals and the broader community.
College of Science
Learning in the College of Science is
predicated on the concept that faith
and reason are compatible in the
search for truth. We help students
develop a greater appreciation for
this balance through programs that
enable them to draw from different
fields of knowledge, to ask questions
and to solve problems.
National Moser Center
for Adult Learning
Our students represent a diverse
spectrum of working professionals
seeking to grow academically,
personally and professionally.
We offer a breadth of program
options specifically designed for adult
learners to develop essential problemsolving and critical thinking skills
beyond specific discipline content.
Pursuing a Benedictine degree allows
our students to make invaluable
professional connections. National
Moser Center enriches this experience
with a Benedictine tradition that
grounds and promotes a greater
understanding of human potential.
™
Tradition. Technology. Truth.
These provide our graduates with
a foundation for excellence in
research, teaching or advanced study.
College of Business
Global College
The Global College oversees the development
of Benedictine’s many programs and services
abroad, including administration of master’s
programs in China and Vietnam. These
partnerships allow students who are unable to
study in the United States to learn about western
business practices and theory while giving
Benedictine students and faculty access to a
broader selection of overseas opportunities.
The faculty and staff of the College of
Business believe success is measured by
how you better the world and the lives of
others. Our goal is to give our students the
tools to have a transformative experience in
the business world. Our diverse graduate
programs are designed to teach valueoriented leadership with a focus on ethical
and socially responsible behavior. We have
a global student body and a broad faculty
of industry-leading professionals.

D2L Information
Finding Grades
Desire2Learn (D2L) is an online classroom environment and the
primary course communication portal for learning team students
in the blended model. Students interact and participate in D2L
sessions that emphasize interaction and participation outside of the
face-to-face classroom. Students log into D2L via the University
website to utilize course content such as student/instructor
discussion forums, assignment submission, grade view and the
Student Lounge resource.
Grade reports for all students are available upon completion of
each course through ben.edu/mybenu. Please see the graduate
catalog for terms under which a grade may be changed. Grade
appeals must be initiated before the end of the semester after
the course in question has been completed. The final grade is
recorded on the permanent record.
Student IDs (BenCards)
The BenCard is required as identification when using University
facilities and participating in University-sponsored events.
BenCards can be picked up at the Benedictine University Police

PIN-debit card if your BenCard is linked to your U.S. Bank
checking account.
• Benedictine students attending classes at partner locations
must wear their BenCard while attending class.
Email Accounts
The University’s primary form of communication with
students is via BenU email (messages, nonacademic
announcements, etc.). Each enrolled student is assigned a
user-specific email address and can log into email via the

to check email daily or consider forwarding messages to
their most-utilized email account. Desire2Learn email is the
communication tool used by instructors and classmates during

Paying for Your Education
Paying for School
Worried about paying for college? We are here to help. Below you will find some
information about financing your Benedictine education. Students who complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will receive a formal financial aid
award letter that will detail eligibility for all institutional, federal and state aid programs.
Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Tuition Payment Plan
from Higher One
You may be eligible for institutional, state and/
or federal funds, but that information cannot be
determined without the filing of your FAFSA.
You should complete the FAFSA application as
soon as possible after January 1 to determine
what federal and state funds you may be eligible
to receive. The application can be completed
with estimated information and updated later.
Applications can be found online at
fafsa.gov. Use Benedictine University’s school
code 001767 to release your information to
the Office of Financial Aid. To ensure receipt
of state grant monies, if eligible, it is highly
recommended that students file the FAFSA no
later than February 15. Contact the University’s
Office of Financial Aid at (630) 829-6100 or
[email protected].
Higher One’s Tuition Payment Plan is the
interest-free way to spread tuition payments
over a number of months. The Higher One
Tuition Payment Plan is not a loan, so there
are no interest payments. There is a
nonrefundable application fee to enroll
in this simple and convenient plan which
allows you to break down your education
expenses into easy-to-manage installments
rather than one lump-sum payment.
Student Accounts Information
It is your responsibility to organize your
finances to cover your educational expenses.
Because we recognize each student and family
has different needs and unique financial aid
circumstances, we have staff available to provide
tuition counseling. Tuition and fees are incurred
at the time of registration. Tuition, fees, and
room and board must be paid in full seven
days after the first day of classes to avoid a late
fee and financial hold. Payment is considered
paid in full when covered by financial aid or if
students set up a payment plan by the deadline.
How to Get Started
Visit tuitionpaymentplan.com/ben, click
“Enroll Now” and in a few easy steps your
enrollment will be complete. If you have
questions regarding which plan to select or
the amount to budget, please contact the
Office of Student Accounts at (630) 829-6503
or [email protected].
Fast, Easy Payment Options
Tuition Payment Plan is all about convenience.
That is why we offer you the option to make
your payments online* by eCheck or credit
card, or by mail with your monthly statement.
If you prefer the worry-free simplicity of
automatic deductions from your checking
or savings account, you can sign up for
recurring payments.
*No check processing fees when you pay online on
or before the due date.
Employer Tuition
Reimbursement Plan
Students can arrange a single tuition payment
at the end of the term (plus a grace period)
with proper documentation from their
employer through Higher One’s Tuition
Payment Plan. There is a $30 fee for this
service. Documentation of your approval in
your employer’s tuition assistance plan must be
submitted to the Office of Student Accounts
prior to enrolling in this plan. An updated copy
of the policy must be submitted every fall term
thereafter. Students may fax this documentation
to the Office of Student Accounts at
(630) 829-6501. If the student’s enrollment
changes, the student will be responsible for
adjusting the payment plan either online
or at (800) 635-0120. If the student makes
a payment directly to Benedictine, it is the
student’s responsibility to contact the Office
of Student Accounts so that we may notify
Higher One. Tuition is due in full according to
the deferred due date specified by the Tuition
Payment Plan regardless of when individual
employers reimburse their employees.
Military/Veterans Benefits
The Office of Financial Aid is responsible
for certifying school enrollment to the
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
to authorize your VA educational benefit
payments. First, the student must apply for
benefits directly with the VA. Once official
approval of the student’s eligibility is received,
the Office of Financial Aid will initiate
payment based on the student’s number of
enrolled hours. For more information,
visit ben.edu/VA.
Manage Your Account Online
Once you have enrolled and created your
account login information, you can check the
status of your account and make payments
anytime. Making payments using the Tuition
Payment Plan is simple and convenient.

executive leaders and addresses the issues facing women in the workplace.
Topics include financial literacy, work/life balance, culture and
innovative leadership.

The King Breakfast, which honors the legacy of the civil rights leader
and celebrates diversity, is one of the largest events of its kind in the
state. Sponsored by Benedictine and the College of DuPage, more than
500 community leaders and citizens attend annually. A portion of the
proceeds benefits the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship
Fund at both schools.
Alumni Association
The purpose of the Alumni Association is to advocate for the needs and
goals of current and future alumni, and to promote a continuing and
mutually beneficial relationship between alumni and the University.
The association serves as a voice for Benedictine’s numerous and
diverse alumni.

Each summer, University
Development hosts the
President’s Invitational Golf

celebrity golf personalities
to interact with guests and
helps raise money to support
student scholarships.

to keep students informed of a
variety of scholarships and other
award opportunities.

of our many offerings, and
we look forward to serving
your needs as a student and
