The newly combined Twin
Valley Wolfpack have had
a rather slow start to
their first season together, After three games, the
Wolfpack have a record of
1-2. For the first game of
the season, the Wolfpack
traveled to Jewell Oregon
to face the Jewell Blue
Jays. The Wolfpack got
out to a quick start and
led 38-6 at halftime and
ended up winning by a
score of 52-18. Robert
Rodriguez finished the
game with seven catches
for 143 yards and three
touchdowns. Jace Anderson was 14-16 passing for
219 yards and four touchdowns. Josiah Olson
caught the other touch-
down pass, a 63 yard
completion. The second
game of the season was at
Wishkah against the
Lopez Island Lobos. The
Wolfpack got off to another quick start in the game
stopping the Lobos on
their first possession and
scoring in just three plays
on a 42 yard touchdown
pass from Jace Anderson
to Julio Silva. Things went
downhill from there, and
the Wolfpack didn’t score
again until the fourth
quarter and ended up
losing 54-14. The heat
played a big factor in the
game with many players
getting injured and three
being taken to the hospital
with heat exhaustion.
Looking to rebound off of
their loss to Lopez Island,
the Wolfpack made the long
trip to Lyle to play the
Lyle/Wishram Cougars.
The Wolfpack got off to a
good start in the first half
and were ahead by a score
of 22-20 at halftime. The
second half was a completely different story for the
Wolfpack. Once again the
Wolfpack were depleted by
injuries and failed to put
any points on the board in
the second half and lost by
a score of 64-22. The Wolfpack’s next game is against
Evergreen Lutheran at
Lake Quinault. After that
they go on the road again to
play Washington State
Deaf in Vancouver.

OPEN HOUSE

Open house is a fun day where students and their parents come
to see teachers and get information about the school year and
the kind of curriculum that the school will be using. We have
open house mostly for the parents so that they know that their
kid will be in a good learning environment and know that their
kid will get help whenever they need it. One of the best parts
about open house is the complementary baked potato dinner for
the students, teachers, and the parents. Another highlight
about open house is the fact that it gives the parent’s time to
learn about our school and how their students will be treated
here. Open house was held Tuesday, September 16th, starting
at 5:30PM and ending at 7:00 PM.

Superintendent’s Corner
he Wishkah
Valley School
Board and
Community Bond Levy
Committee continue to
meet to work on the
modernization of our
school. The modernization of Wishkah Valley
School will provide
state of the art safety
for staff and students,
technology, facility and
educational program
improvements. The
current building is over
fifty years old and is in
need of modernization.
The community bond/
modernization committee will be hosting
community meetings
over the next few
months to discuss the
needed safety and
educational improvements. We appreciate
all the input the
community has given
us so far throughout
this process and we
invite continued input
from the community.
Hopefully the meetings
will be well attended.
We are working closely
with recommendations
from state agencies
and will receive
substantial funding to
support this project.
We have a 55% state
match and significant
timber taxes which will
help fund the modernization project. Next
February, there will be
a bond levy to vote on
the proposed modernization project.
School is off to a good
start. Teachers are
doing a great job
teaching students and
preparing them for
their future. Students
are working diligently
to fulfill graduation
requirements and to
reach their goals.
Football and volleyball
are also having
successful starts to

play again this year.
Our boys’ combined
team, Wishkah Valley
and Lake Quinault, the
Twin Valley Wolfpack,
is very successful.
Wishkah Valley School
and Lake Quinault
School form a powerful
boys’ program.
Enrollment continues to
increase. We have
twenty new students,
nine new kindergartners and we have
twice as many students
opting to come into our
district as students
going out.
We are very excited
about the new 20142015 school year. We
appreciate all the
support we receive from
parents, the booster
club and the
community.

Wishkah Valley School is a targeted assistance Title I and LAP building.
Students identified through state assessments, classroom assessments, and
teacher recommendations will receive assistance throughout the day. These
are not a special education program but are support programs for those struggling in either reading or math.
Parents may request information regarding the professional
qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers.

really love this school; it’s my
favorite school that I have ever
been to. I especially like
biology with Mr. Hay.” The
last person I spoke with was
Kenny Moe in 9th grade, he
said, “I like Wishkah because
it’s small, and the people are
nice.”

For the 2014-2015 school year at Wishkah Valley, there have been a few changes
to the school’s district policies and new ways to view test results and graduation
requirements. Mrs. Killen gave us a friendly reminder that the school board
policies are located in the school board drop down menu on the Wishkah Valley
school website: www.wishkah.org Mr. Yoder, the superintendent, added that
any new information about test results is located under the school board drop
down menu under the heading, EDS. To find test results or any other needed
information, click on Washington Query and log on. All information on Washington Query has been recently updated to reflect the latest information on Wishkah
Valley School’s district policies, test results, and graduation requirements.

On Saturday, October 4th, Mr. Eager will be hosting a Local History Tour as a
fundraiser for the Wishkah Valley Booster Club. The event will start at 8:30

Annual Cancer Fun Run/Walk a Success by Jason Parmelee
Wishkah Valley School
fundraiser was a Walk/
Run to raise money for
cancer research. The
students and adults that
participated in the
fundraiser were given
the choice to walk or
run but all must have a
good time. This activity
gave many people a
chance to clear their
minds and gave them
the opportunity to work
on their personal times
and have family fun.
Over thirty people participated in the walk/
run. The walk and the
run were one mile,
three miles and five
miles long and there
were various water
stops for everyone. The
road that they used was
the upper Wishkah. An-
yone could walk or run
in the cancer fundraiser;
there was no age limit.
The sponsor for this
fundraiser was the National Honor Society.
All the money that was
earned at the fundraiser goes to the American Cancer Society.

Every month here at Wishkah
Valley School, our principal, Mr.
Yoder, and a few teachers are
chosen to nominate students in
the school for Student of the
Month. These students get
recognized for their good
behavior, hard work, and improvement in academics. For this
month, Damien Claessen was
chosen from the middle school
by Mr. Killen. Damien was
picked because he is “well
integrated in his work” and he
“has been working hard since
the beginning.” Next, Mrs.
Kilpatrick was selected to
nominate a high school
student, which is Kayla Tudor.
Kayla “shows leadership,
reliability, and she is
respectful. Kayla is on her way
to success!” Also, Ms. Reime
chose one of her 3rd grade
students, Madison Cork. Ms.
Reime stated that “Madison
always tries her best and takes
her time to ensure that she’s
turning in quality work.” Adding to
that, Madison is “willing to help
others and has a great attitude. Madison is a leader!” Lastly, Logen Seguin was picked by Mr. Yoder. He
said that Logen is “eager to participate,
follows classroom rules,
and is willing to take academic
risks.” Congratulations to Damien,
Kayla, Madison, and Logen for their
hard work! Keep it up, guys!
