The newest addition to the Adventure Science Center is the $21.4 million, 160-seat Sudekum Planetarium. The state-of-the-art planetarium has a 63foot dome and can display 6.5 million stars. The addition also includes the Space Chase exhibit hall which houses 30 original displays and 63 interactive stations, including a simulated star walk. It grew into a beautiful Greek Revival Mansion and one of the largest private estates in Nashville covering over 5,400 acres. Today, visitors can explore the remaining 30 acres and find the original cabin, a log cabin, and a massive carriage house and stables built in 1892, housing an impressive carriage collection. After your guided tour is complete, you can enjoy a complimentary wine tasting in the winery. Indulge in our muscadine and blackberry wines or any of the hand-made chocolates, then visit the gift shop for unique treasures. The park also includes a large carillon, World War II Memorial, and a 2,000-seat amphitheater. Bluebird Cafe is a great spot for older children to hear from the songwriters behind their favorite radio tunes and learn a little about the not-so-public names that are so important to Music City. May not be suitable for younger ages, as the Bluebird Cafe has gained a reputation as a listening room and has a ‘shhh’ policy. Four Confederate generals were killed during the bloody Battle of Franklin and their bodies were laid on Carnton’s back porch. The floors of the restored home are still stained with the blood of the men who were treated there. Today, visitors tour the distinctive large brick house to learn of 19th century Tennessee life.
