NRS Relief
About us
NRS Relief is a family-run business that manufactures innovative,
high quality and cost-effective core relief items and multi-purpose
shelters. We are trusted by humanitarian aid organisations to deliver
the products required to help those in need. Put simply, in times of
natural disaster or humanitarian crisis, we are your partner that can
be relied upon to achieve your mission, whatever the challenges.
Over the past four decades, NRS Relief, part of NRS International, has
developed an enviable range of core relief products and aid essentials
designed to respond to any situation. Our newly launched Relief Support
Structures division continues this tradition by pioneering multi-purpose
tents for medical, educational, logistic and management support use.
You can rest assured that whatever product we offer, it is fully compliant
with the highest industry standards.
We manufacture what we sell
We fully control our supply chain and manage the entire product
development process from manufacturing through to final delivery.
All our products are manufactured by H. Sheikh Noor-ud-Din & Sons
(HSNDS) in Pakistan, our factory that employs 7,000 skilled workers.
After our products leave the factory, our expert logisticians facilitate the
transportation of our products by air, sea and land to wherever they are
required, as well as maintaining strategic stocks in Dubai and Lahore.
We never stand still
Innovation is in our blood. We work hand in hand with our clients,
suppliers and beneficiaries in order to design new solutions and to
continually improve our existing products. We are proud that we were
the first supplier to offer affordable and fully fire retardant tents and
tarpaulins to the humanitarian community, a life-saving innovation which
won the Aid Innovation Challenge at AidEx 2014.
We care
Not only is NRS Relief setting a new standard for industry innovation, we
are strongly committed to a corporate social responsibility agenda which
focuses on our staff, our products and production. Our Bilqees Sarwar
Foundation, a non-profit non-government organisation founded by NRS
International's chairing family, spearheads extensive charitable activities
in Pakistan and beyond.

Global

displacement
How NRS Relief is
committed to provide
cost-effective
relief essentials
Ongoing wars, political conflicts,
earthquakes, floods and other
natural disasters are causing a
record-high number of people to
flee their homes worldwide.
A total of nearly 60 million people
were displaced in 2014; an increase
of 8.3 million in only one year.
Displaced figures had already
reached record-high levels in 2013,
exceeding 50 million for the first
time since World War II.
At NRS Relief, we respond to global
challenges by offering high quality
and cost-effective relief products
to international agencies, bilateral
donors, governments and nongovernmental organisations.
This year our dedicated team
worked around the clock to assist
our clients and partners around
the globe. We have been an active
partner during the emergency
response operations after the
Nepal earthquake, during the Ebola
crisis in West Africa, the European
refugee crisis, and the ongoing
humanitarian crises in the Middle
East and in parts of Africa.

NRS Relief
NRS Relief makes a
difference to 300 nuns
in Nepal
On 25 April 2015 a devastating
earthquake shook Nepal, taking
nearly 9,000 lives and destroying
more than 600,000 houses. NRS
Relief witnessed its multi-purpose
tents being put to inspirational
use at the prominent Amitabha
monastery in Nepal, making a
difference to the lives of 300 nuns.
Since the first earthquake struck,
NRS Relief has worked around the
clock to assist global aid agencies
and international non-governmental
organisations with the much needed
aid essentials. NRS Relief has
supplied a total of 2,000 family tents
and multi-purpose shelters, 20,000
39
Relief Support Structures
tarpaulins, 40,000 water containers,
10,000 thermal blankets, 21,000
mosquito nets, and 10,000 solar lights
for use in the Nepalese community.
In this very rewarding case of
supplying emergency shelters to
the Nepalese monastery, NRS
Relief worked closely with Bairo
Ling Australia, a non-governmental
organisation that is helping the
Amitabha Monastery and other
affected families to rebuild
damaged homes.

Innovation through collaboration
At NRS Relief, we never stop innovating. We strive to pioneer
products that meet the needs of the end user and the entire
humanitarian community. All our products are the outcome
of an extensive product innovation process, often under
the guidelines of international agencies, bilateral donors,
governments and non-governmental organisations. This
results in better quality results, greater client and beneficiary
satisfaction and technological breakthroughs that have a real
social impact.
Public-private partnerships
‘Innovation is dynamic problem-solving among
friends’
We are proud to be the first supplier to offer affordable and fully
fire retardant tents and tarpaulins to the humanitarian community,
a life-saving innovation which won the Aid Innovation Challenge at
AidEx 2014. This is just one example that has served as a catalyst
for progress in the humanitarian supply industry, and will improve
the lives of people affected by disasters.
Our product developments are beneficiary-driven, sustainable and
evidence-based. The solutions are the outcome of a cross-cutting
process in which each individual and/or institution contributes. We
follow a cycle of innovation that invites all actors to contribute to the
optimal product. This collaboration model is applied to every single
relief item that we manufacture, from buckets to blankets, from
tents to tarpaulins.
To further strengthen our innovation capacity, we have built
strategic public partnerships to jointly develop new products
that are beneficial to the humanitarian aid sector. Through these
critical partnerships, we continue to cultivate a corporate culture of
innovation, learning, evaluation and creativity – and we are better
able to serve clients and beneficiaries globally.
Case study: award-winning fire retardant innovation
We are proud to be the first supplier to offer
affordable and fully fire retardant tents and
tarpaulins to the humanitarian community, a lifesaving innovation which won the Aid Innovation Challenge
at AidEx 2014.

Logistics support
Our goal is to efficiently transfer relief goods from a source location
to a predefined destination. We operate based on the Incoterms
2010 Chart of Responsibility, as governed by the International
Chamber of Commerce guidelines. We make it possible to deliver to
hard-to-reach destinations, so that the survival commodities reach
the intended beneficiaries at the right place, at the right time.
Warehousing solutions
We provide client-specific warehouse storage solutions by
managing and operating customised storage space. Our secure
warehouse facilities ensure that your relief stocks are safe
from damage. While in storage, goods may be repacked and
consolidated, depending on client requirements.
Supply chain management
We understand that humanitarian logistics and supply chain
management are both crucial to disaster response. With
our integrated approach, we coordinate inter-organisational
performance, eliminate redundancy, and maximize efficiency along
our supply chain.

Quality management
We strive for the highest levels of quality at each step of
our production process. We have an independent quality
management department directly reporting to the CEO. And
at every single level of our organisation, our colleagues feel a
shared desire to make processes and outcomes better
every day.
Quality control
We conduct stringent quality checks throughout the production
process. Our quality control team inspects all incoming raw
materials and performs random inspections to ensure compliance
with specifications. An independent laboratory makes tests during
key production stages and conducts a final audit before shipment to
a customer.
Quality assurance
Our quality assurance team performs random process/system
audits to improve our production and quality management. Quality
objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) are defined for
each individual department. Based on the KPI assessment, the
quality management teams continue to assess processes and
suggest training needs.
