Building homes, Building hope Syracuse Habitat for Humanity ReStore The Syracuse Habitat for Humanity ReStore is part of a nationwide initiative by Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore accepts donations of new and used building supplies and resells the material at a discounted value. All proceeds directly support Syracuse Habitat for Humanity and its’ capacity to build homes locally. The ReStore invites everyone to shop and donate at the ReStore. Through the sale of new and used building materials, the ReStore is promoting a green and ecoconscious lifestyle and working to eradicate poverty in our neighborhoods. How does it work? The ReStore accepts donations of building and home improvement materials. Please view our acceptable items list or contact the ReStore if you have questions about donations. If you would like to make a donation, we will be happy to arrange a pick-up at your convenience. Please contact the ReStore (475-9172) to make the proper arrangements. You can also drop off a donation during the ReStore’s hours of operation. All of the profits earned from the ReStore directly help benefit future builds by the Syracuse Habitat for Humanity affiliate. What types of products do we sell? The ReStore inventory is predominately comprised of items accepted as donations. Typical inventory includes, but is not limited to, drywall, moldings, doors, siding, lumber, plumbing, hardware, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, cabinets and countertops, roofing materials, electrical hardware, lighting, wall and floor coverings, windows and many other home improvement items. All products for sale are new or usable and are evaluated by the ReStore staff for functionality and customer appeal before being accepted as a donation. If your donation is to large or heavy to move, please contact the ReStore and arrange a time for the ReStore to pick up your donation based on your availability. We are always looking for volunteers in the ReStore to help run the cashier, assist customers and assist with unloading donations. If you are interested in volunteering at the ReStore, please be sure to fill out a volunteer form from at the Syracuse Habitat for Humanity website, www.syracusehabitat.org. If you have any questions about volunteering, please feel free to contact the ReStore! What is deconstruction? Deconstruction is the hand demolition of buildings in the reverse of their creation. Deconstruction is a green alternative to traditional demolition techniques. If you would like more information on deconstruction please view our Deconstruction FAQ document on our website. This will provide an overview of another funding method by the ReStore.
