The Government has set a target: by 2038, 70% of all new houses in Adelaide will
be built within Adelaide’s existing built-up area (up from about 50% currently) and
the Government wants them to be better designed and to be supported by the
community. The urban development industry knows that infill projects are much
more costly, complex and risky than building in new estates on the urban fringe. So
what will it take for the industry to achieve the 70% target? We have the skills and
