Theme: How I Know Jesus Loves Me
Narrator A:
I know Jesus Christ loves me.
I know it because of the things I see.
We’re going to show you so you can know, too,
He not only loves us, He also loves you. (Points to the audience)
Narrator B:
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us loving families.
Reader #1: (Holds up picture of Elder Perry, backside shows a family)
Elder L. Tom Perry said: “Families [are] the center of our Heavenly Father’s plan.” (Ensign,
May 2003, 40)
(Turns picture around and sticks it into the styro foam in the theme box)
Reader #2: (Holds up picture #1 of Pres. Monson, backside shows a house)
President Thomas S. Monson said: “We are responsible for the home we build. We must
build wisely, . . . There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow.
But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth.” (Thomas S. Monson, Liahona,
Oct 2001, 3)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us our families.
(Puts picture into theme box)
FIRST SONG: I AM PART OF A FAMILY (Sung by all)
I am part of a family.
We work together every day,
Everyone trying to do his part,
Everyone trying with all his heart
To work in harmony.
Lalala, lalala, lalalee, we work in harmony.
I am part of a family.
We play together every day,
Everyone laughing and having fun.
After our work and our chores are done
We play in harmony.
Lalala, lalala, lalalee, we play in harmony.
1
I am part of a family.
We sing together every day,
Everyone singing so happily,
Everyone trying to stay on key,
We sing in harmony.
Lalala, lalala, lalalee, we sing in harmony.
I am part of a family.
We pray together every day,
Everyone kneeling so quietly,
Speaking to Father so rev’rently,
We pray in harmony.
Lalala, lalala, lalalee, we pray in harmony.
We work, we play, we sing, we pray,
All in harmony.
Narrator B:
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us beautiful temples.
Reader #3: (Holding a picture #2 of Pres. Monson, backside shows a temple)
President Monson said:“[Becoming a family for eternity] is the marvelous blessing that
awaits those who come to the temple. May each of us live worthy lives, with clean hands
and pure hearts, so that the temple may touch our lives and our families.” (Liahona, Oct 2010,
12–19)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us temples.
(Puts picture into theme box)
SECOND SONG: I LOVE TO SEE THE TEMPLE (Sung by all with pictures of temples on
the screen, if possible use some pictures showing your special needs members pointing to or
sitting near the temple.)
I love to see the temple.
I’m going there someday
To feel the Holy Spirit,
To listen and to pray.
For the temple is a house of God,
A place of love and beauty.
I’ll prepare myself
While I am young.
It is my sacred duty.
I love to see the temple.
I’ll go inside some day.
I’ll cov’nant with my Father,
2
I’ll promise to obey.
For the temple is a holy place
Where we are
Sealed together.
As a child of God
I’ve learned this truth,
A family is forever.
Narrator B:
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us a beautiful world.
Reader #4: (Holds picture of Jesus with the world, backside shows mountain and lake
scene)
Jesus said, “Verily I say, . . . the fulness of the earth is yours, the beasts of the field and
the fowls of the air, and that which climbeth upon the trees and walketh upon the earth;
Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit
and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart;” (D&C 59: 16, 18)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us this beautiful world
(Puts picture into theme box)
THIRD SONG: JESUS MADE THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD
lst verse:
We have been given a beautiful world.
It’s filled with such wonderful things,
All kinds of trees, even mountains and streams
And beautiful birds that can sing. .
So many colorful flowers to see
Each made just to bring us delight
Sunlight and moonlight and stars in the sky,
They, too, are a glorious sight.
Chorus:
Jesus made this beautiful world
And filled it with light from above,
We want to thank Him with all of our hearts
For showing us such love.
2nd verse:
All kinds of animals bring so much joy,
Cute puppies and kittens and lambs,
Monkeys in jungles and ponies to ride
Each one was a part of His plan
Raindrops that splash on our cheeks and our nose,
And leaves that change color and fall,
Snowflakes that magically turn the world white
Yes, He has created them all.
3
Repeat chorus
Narrator B:
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us loving teachers.
Reader #5: (Holds up a picture of Pres. McKay, backside shows a teacher helping child with
school work)
President David O. McKay said, “No greater responsibility can rest upon any man [or
woman], than to be a teacher of God’s children.” (Ensign, May 1998, 25) (Puts picture into
theme box)
Reader #6: (Holds up a picture of Jesus, backside shows teacher helping downs child )
Jesus Christ said: “Hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the
light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do.” (3 Nephi 18:24).
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us teachers.
(Puts picture into theme box)
FOURTH SONG: I’M LEARNING THE WAYS OF JESUS
I’m learning each day to be caring and kind.
I think of good deeds in my heart and my mind.
I try ev’ry day to give love away.
I’m learning the ways of Jesus.
So if I see someone who’s lost or afraid,
I’ll offer to help, that’s a choice I have made.
Or if I see someone who just needs a friend,
I’ll speak to them kindly and spend time with them.
I try ev’ry day to give love away.
I’m learning the ways of Jesus.
I’m learning each day to be friendly and fair.
I try to help others; I willingly share.
I try ev’ry day to give love away.
I’m learning the ways of Jesus.
So if I see someone who can’t walk or run,
I’ll think of some ways I can help them have fun.
Or if I see someone who can’t see or hear,
I’ll tell them that I’ll be their eyes or their ears.
I try ev’ry day to give love away.
I’m learning the ways of Jesus.
Narrator B:
4
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us yummy good food to eat.
Reader #7: (Holds up picture of Elder Holland, backside shows basket of fruits and veg.)
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said: We should all be as fit as we can be—that’s good Word of
Wisdom doctrine. That means eating right and exercising.” (Jeffrey R. Holland, Ensign, Nov 2005, 28)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us good food to eat.
(Puts picture into theme box)
(All participants come out moving in random rhythm onto the stage as the introductory music
starts right after Elder Holland’s quote, then they stand in their places as the singers sing. They
each hold a food (or picture of it) from the song, holding it up as theirs is mentioned. They all join
in singing or saying “Yum, yum, yum!” at the end of the verses.)
FIFTH SONG: YUMMY GOOD FOOD (Sung by the teachers with cast)
He gave us raspberries, lemons and limes,
Melons, blackberries, and peaches divine.
Yellow papaya and sweet honeydew
Nectarines, kumquats, and apricots, too.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
Prickly pineapples, blueberries and grapes,
Mangos and kiwis and tropical dates.
Oranges, bananas and apples and pears,
Cherries, strawberries, and choc’late eclairs.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
(Chorus:)
He gave us such yummy good food to eat,
But we must be careful and limit the sweets.
Eat well and be active, then we won’t go wrong.
It’s helps us be happy and healthy and strong.
He made tomatoes, potatoes, and peas
Broccoli, lettuce, so many green beans,
Pumpkins and peppers and corn on the cob,
Eating those veggies is simply our job.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
Peanuts and walnuts and popcorn, oh yes.
Steak now and then would be okay, I guess.
Tasty wheat bread with some turkey and cheese.
Pass me the ice cream, I need something sweet.
Yum! Yum! Yum!
(Repeat chorus)
Narrator B:
5
We know Jesus loves us because He gave us scriptures that teach us about Him.
Reader #8: (Holds up picture of Elder Nelson, backside shows scriptures)
Elder Russell M. Nelson said, “The Bible and the Book of Mormon are both witnesses of
Jesus Christ. They teach that He is the Son of God, that He lived an exemplary life, that
He atoned for all mankind, that He died upon the cross and rose again as the resurrected
Lord. They teach that He is the Savior of the world. (Gen Conf. Oct. 2007)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus gave us scriptures.
(Put picture into theme box)
SIXTH SONG: HAND IN HAND TOGETHER (some singers could hold up their Bible as they
sing that part, the others hold up their Book of Mormon as they sing that part. As they all
sing the chorus they could hold the Bible and Book of Mormon in front of them for the
audience to see)
Bible stories teach us
How to live like Jesus.
Book of Mormon stories, too,
Tell what He would have us do.
Hand in hand together,
The Bible and the Book of Mormon stand forever
To tell of Jesus Christ.
Bible prophets tell us
How to live like Jesus.
Book of Mormon prophets, too,
Testify of all that’s true.
Hand in hand together,
The Bible and the Book of Mormon stand forever
To tell of Jesus Christ.
Narrator B:
We know Jesus loves us because He made a way for our bodies to be perfect..
Reader # 9: (Holds up picture of the prophet Joseph Smith, backside shows a naked waist-up
baby)
The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “We came to this earth that we might have a body and
present it pure before God in the celestial kingdom. The great principle of happiness
consists in having a body.” ( Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith [1976], 181.)
(Turns picture around and puts it into theme box)
Reader #10: (Holds up picture of Elder Packer, backside shows Christ embracing child in white)
6
For those whose bodies have problems, Elder Boyd K. Packer said, “That day of healing
will come. Bodies which are deformed and minds that are [imperfect] will be made perfect.
. . . And, ‘all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame.’”(Alma 40:23, Boyd K.
Packer, Ensign May 1991)
(Turns picture around and says:) We glad Jesus made a way for our bodies to be perfect.
(Puts picture into theme box)
SEVENTH SONG: I’M SO GLAD TO HAVE A BODY
I’m so glad to have a body
That can move and feel and grow.
It’s a gift from Heavn’ly Father
And it shows He loves me so.
I have two eyes so I can see
The beauties of this earth.
I have two ears so I can hear
The sound of loving words.
Yes, my body is a blessing
For it helps me do so much.
I’m so thankful for the special gift
Of sight and smell and touch.
I’m so glad to have a body
That can walk and run and play.
I’m so glad to have two hands to help
The friends I meet each day.
I have two arms that like to give
A warm and friendly hug.
I have a heart that’s thankful for
All those who show me love.
If my body isn’t perfect
With a missing part or two
When I someday live with Jesus
I’ll be well and whole and new.
Narrator B::
We know Jesus loves us because He suffered and died for us.
Reader #11: (Holds up picture of Pres. Hinckley, backside shows resurrected Christ)
President Gordon B. Hinckley said, “Jesus Christ is our triumphant Lord. He is our
Redeemer, who atoned for our sins. Through His redeeming sacrifice all men shall rise
7
from the grave. He has opened the way whereby we may gain not only immortality but also
eternal life.” (Ensign, May 1999, 72)
(Turns picture around and says:) We’re glad Jesus came to save us.
(Puts picture into theme box)
EIGHTH SONG: I AM OF INFINITE WORTH (This could be a duet in unison with singers
singing one verse each, then together on the chorus. Pictures of Christ are shown on screen
during song.)
All I need do is remember
If ever I wonder if I am of worth.
Remember my Savior, what He did for me
When He lived among men on the earth.
Pain and unspeakable sorrow
He bore for my sins there in Gethsemane.
Then He gave up His life as He hung on the cross,
And He did it all for me.
(Chorus:)
For I am of worth
Of infinite worth
My Savior Redeemer loves me.
Yes, I am of worth
Of infinite worth
I’ll be all he wants me to be.
I will praise him,
I will serve him,
I will grow in his love
And fulfill my divine destiny.
Lovingly Jesus is watching,
He knows I am worth all He suffered for me.
Now I must fulfill my own mission in life,
Ever following Him faithfully.
Line upon line I am striving
Not seeking the honor or praise of mankind.
I will reach for the joy of Celestial rewards,
‘Til all that God offers is mine
(Repeat Chorus, add tag:)
For my Savior, Redeemer, love me.
Priesthood leader bears testimony of Christ and His love for these special needs children,
their parents, and teachers.
Narrator A:
And now you all know just why we know
8
That Jesus loves us, every one.
We’ll try to obey Him and do what is right
Because He’s our Savior, God’s Son.
FINALE SONG : I KNOW JESUS LOVES ME (Sung by entire cast)
(Chorus:)
I know Jesus loves me,
I know it, I know it, I know it.
I know I love Him, too,
I’ll show it, I’ll show it, I’ll show it,
I’ll try to be all that He wants me to be
Because I know Jesus loves me.
(1st verse:)
I see it in smiles of my fam’ly and friends,
In kind deeds they show me again and again.
I feel it when kneeling to rev’rently pray,
I see all the blessings He sends my way
(Repeat Chorus)
(2nd verse:)
So often I have a warm feeling inside
A sweet, happy feeling I cannot hide
That helps me to feel Jesus’s love every day.
He blesses and helps me so many ways.
(Repeat chorus)

Instructions:
Pictures used by the speakers can be found on the Internet. The Church leaders can be found on lds.org or
google the name of the leader to find different poses. Pictures that are on the backside depicting the
message can be found by googling the type of picture wanted. Some sample pictures are posted below.
Print the pictures the readers hold up, about 11" X 14" so they can be seen well from the audience. Mount
them on poster board, insuring that they won’t flop over. Then glue the picture of the subject of each
message on the backside. Between the pictures glue a stick about 30" long so the reader can hold it up high
by the stick. Make sure the reader does not show any picture until he starts reading. He shows the Church
leader as he reads the quote, and when finished with the quote he turns it around so the picture on the back
shows. Then he places it in a holder of styro foam (with the backside picture toward the audience) where
all pictures will stand upright and in a line.
The title of the program will be on the front of the holder, which may be similar to a long window box. The
holder should be placed on one side of the stage in front of the podium where the narrators and readers do
their parts. The sign on the front of the holder will look like this:
How I know Jesus loves me.
Optional: The quotes the speakers give could be shown on a screen as they’re spoken, so that even though it
may be difficult for the speaker to speak clearly, the message will still be understood.
