Expert Lecture The Department of EConE has organized a guest lecture on “Process Control (Academic & Industry perspective)” under TEQIP-II on 11-08-2014. Dr.M.Chidambaram, Professor, Dept of Chemical Engineering, IIT Chennai was the resource person. Title of the seminar “Process Control(Academic & Industry perspective)” Date 11th August 2014 Target group III, IV EConE and III EIE Students. Objectives 1) To improve the employability of the students in the area of process control engineering. 2) To create awareness on PID and Fuzzy Controllers in process control Engineering. Expected Results 1) Acquired knowledge on basics and advances in process control engineering. 2) Students are benefited with this demand driven careeroriented lecture. Dr.T.Thyagarajan, Professor, Dept of Instrumentation Engineering & Director, Center for university industry collaboration, MIT campus, Anna University, Chennai was resource person. Title of the seminar “Career counseling and guidance for Instrumentation & Control Engineers” Date 17th April 2014 Target group II,III,IV EConE and III EIE B.Tech Students. Resource person Dr.T.Thyagarajan, Professor, Dept of Instrumentation Engineering & Director, MIT campus, Anna University, Chennai. Objectives 1) To improve the employability of the students. 2) To create awareness on Career options in core Electronics, Instrumentation and control engineering companies, State and Central Government organizations, R & D org., Core sectors etc., pursuing project work and resume preparation etc. Expected Results 1) Preparedness of the students to meet the market requirements. 2) Students are benefited with this demand driven careeroriented lecture. Dr.T.Thyagarajan delivering his lecture on “Career counseling and guidance for Instrumentation & Control Engineers” FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME The Department of EConE has organized a Two Day National Level Faculty Development Programme on “Electromagnetic Field Theory & Transmission Lines” under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II), during 21-22 February 2014. Dr. P.Dhanunjayan, Professor, Dept of ECE, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, and Dr.K.S.Nayanathara, professor & HOD ECE, CVR college of Engineering, Hyderabad, inaugurated the program. About 40 faculty members from SVEC and various engineering colleges were participated in this program. Dr. P.Dhanunjayan has delivered lectures on “Vector calculus, Electrostatics and Magneto statics” and Dr.K.S.Nayanathara has delivered lectures on “Time Varying Fields, Wave Propagation, & Transmission Lines”. The outcomes of the program are as follows: 1. Have an ability to determine the behavior of static and dynamic fields in all electrical engineering applications. 2. Ability to apply Maxwell’s equations to deduce wave equations for describing the wave propagation. 3. Ability to apply techniques for the measurement of basic transmission line parameters. Dr. V.Sankaranarayanan Assoc.Professor, National Institute of Technology, Trichy and Dr.K.Srinivasan Assoc. Dean, Research and Consultancy, National Institute of Technology, Trichy, inaugurated the program. About engineering 81 colleges V.Sankaranarayanan faculty members participated from in SVEC this has delivered lectures on and program. various Dr. “Classical Control theory” and Dr.K.Srinivasan has delivered lectures on “PID control and its applications and State feedback Controller design using MATLAB”. The outcomes of the program are as follows: 1. Awareness on control system applications using MATLAB. 2. Guiding students to undertake projects in the modern control systems. 3. Awareness on State feedback controller design. 4. Cheering the faculty to pursue research in the field of Modern control engineering. Prof. T. Thyagarajan, Head, Instrumentation Engineering, MIT, Chennai and Dr.G.V.Marutheswar, Professor, Department of EEE, SVU, inaugurated the program. About 70 faculty members from SVEC and various engineering colleges participated in this program. Prof.V.S.S.Kumar, Principal, Osmania University College of Engineering , has delivered a lecture on “Different Perspectives of Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic”. Prof.T.Thyagarajan delivered lectures on Neural Networks, Fuzzy with Genetic Algorithm and Neuro Fuzzy Systems. Dr.G.V.Marutheswar delivered lectures on Fuzzy Logic and Applications of Fuzzy Control. The outcomes of the program are as follows: 1. Acquired superior knowledge on Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic. 2.
