THE ANNUAL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS YARD SALE
Is coming soon (June 4th from 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the basement of the church). Beginning Monday, May 16th
you can drop off items for the yard sale in the basement of the church entering through the side door of the
church. The only items that we ask to NOT drop off are TVs, monitors, and computers. Thanks!
BIBLE STUDY
This Wednesday May 11th we will study chapter 18 of Acts of the Apostles. Our weekly Bible Study runs from
7:00 – 8:30 pm. in the Parish Center.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to all 36 children in the parish who have received their first communion the last two Sundays.
It is such a joyful experience to see their response of faith and excitement of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist
for the first time. Please keep them and their families in your prayers during this very special time. It is also a
wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the great gift God gives to us by allowing us to be nourished with the
very Body and Blood of Christ. In reflecting on this we ask Our Lord for the grace to help us receive him with
all our heart, and if we are unable to receive him let us make many spiritual communions that can help deepen our love for Jesus.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL CONTINUES
It is that time of the year for our Annual Diocesan Catholic Charities Appeal. This Appeal is essential in the
work of the diocese to meet the needs of so many people and organizations. The Appeal is running until late
June. Proceeds from the Appeal fund diocesan charitable services and programs that provide shelter, food,
clothing, counseling, advocacy support and faith formation. The theme selected for this year’s Appeal is
“Open Your Heart To Mercy,” for this Year of Mercy. Please respond with the greatest generosity that you
can. Thank you everyone!
INCOME AND EXPENSES FOR MARCH
The income for March was $29,720 and our expenses were $29,683. Thank you everyone for your generous
response.
BLOOD DRIVE
This Monday, May 16th from 2:00pm – 7:00 pm the Kinghts of Columbus are sponsoring a blood drive at the
Parish Center with the American Red Cross. You can just drop in, but if you would like to schedule an appointment just call 1-800- RED CROSS.

BL. PIER GIORGIO HIKING CLUB
Now that the weather is getting nicer, we will begin our hiking club again. On Sunday, May 22nd at 2pm we
will be gathering at Boyden Refuge 1298 Cohannet Street, Taunton, Ma 02780. We will meet there in their
parking lot. Paths are relatively flat with some inclines at times, but one hill, one staircase, but no large rocks
to climb over. Walk along river, covered bridge. Popular site for seniors, dog walkers, and families.
POPE ST. JOHN PAUL II CLUB
The Pope St. John Paul II Club is open for all those who have a canoe or kayak. It is a wonderful time for a
little exercise, being out in the beauty of God’s creation, and getting to know other parishioners. We will be
going out Sunday, May 29th, leaving from the church parking lot at 1:30 p.m. If the weather is poor then we
will reschedule kayaking to the following Sunday, June 5th and we will meet at 1:30. Our first river to kayak
still is to be determined at this point. We also have one extra kayak a parishioner donated for anyone that
does not have a kayak and wants to join us. Lastly, there are others who have offered for people to use their
kayaks so if you are interested just notify Fr. Kevin and we will coordinate something.
QUO VADIS DAYS
This summer, July 5th – 9th, the Office for Vocations will be hosting their annual Quo Vadis Days Retreat for
boys entering high school to those entering college. The purpose of the Quo Vadis is to bring young men together from around the diocese to spend time in growing in their faith, learning more about discernment of
one’s vocation, learning about the priesthood, and building friendships with other young men who see their
faith as something very important to them. Each day we have Mass, times for prayer, sports, etc. We also
have a day when we go mountain hiking. It is a great experience! If interested please notify Fr. Kevin for the
details.
BUILDING A CULTURE OF VOCATIONS
As a parish, we have spiritually adopted two of our seminarians: Juan Carlos Munoz and Matt Gill. Each
month we will pray for different people living their vocation that they will grow in their living of the Lord’s calling. This month of May we are praying for Fr. Bill Rodrigues (Pastor of St. Andrew’s Church, Taunton), Deacon Joe McGinley (from St. Ann’s in Raynham), Darryl A. Coulture and Jeanne Ann Morin (they married here
last Saturday), and Sr. Mary Ruth and Sr. Confida of the religious sisters from the Congregation of the Sisters
of Our Lady of Mercy.
ANNUAL PAWSOX GAME
Time to get ready for summer fun and our annual trip to see the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. The
date is set for the Friday, July 1st game. The Game starts at 6:15 pm. After the game we will be treated to a
fireworks display. The tickets are $12.00 each and can be purchased at the Parish Center. They sell out
quickly so don't miss out. Get your tickets while you are thinking about it.
INDOOR SOCCER
We have scheduled some indoor soccer games of Adults vs. kids and kids vs. kids for once a month from
May – September. Our next game will be next Sunday, May 15th. The dates are May 15, June 12, July 17,
August 14, and September 11. The games are at 7:00 pm at ForeKicks in Taunton and it cost $10 per person
to play. The ages for the kids begins with those in Grade 6 and up. Come have a great time with other parishioners, whether it is playing or watching.
ARE FINANCIAL CONCERNS KEEPING YOUR FROM BEING ABLE TO SEND
YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER TO COYLE AND CASSIDY?
There are some families who wish they could send their children to CC but don't even consider the option because of tuition. Dr. Mary Pat Tranter, the President of Coyle and Cassidy feels no family should be denied
an option for education because of finances. As a school, Coyle is blessed to have benefactors, alumni and
friends who give generously to provide families with financial aid. If you know of a family that wants a Catholic
education for their children but are too embarrassed to seek assistance, please contact Dr. Tranter at 508823-6164 to speak to her about possible assistance.
