Last year the Cherry Valley Festival Committee introduced recycling to the festival. KEEP NORTHERN ILLINOIS BEAUTIFUL provided us with separate marked receptacles that were scattered throughout the festival for discarding bottles and cans. Inquiries have since been made regarding the results of that effort. We are proud to announce the following summary: 158 bags were presented to Paper Recovery, with each bag containing an estimated 100 bottles and cans. Due to the careful consideration of the festival event goers in keeping the recycle containers free of trash, 15,800 bottles and cans were sent to be recycled, saving them from the landfill. We were complimented on how well our community embraced the recycling effort and kept the “clear” recycling bags clean and free of trash. With that said, we would like to THANK YOU, our patrons, for your environmental stewardship.
