Use the directory for building profitable business relationships. 2 CHAMBER BUSINESS MONTHLY | JULY 2010 18 Courses in One Day for Traveling Golf Duo Two visiting Kiwi golfers on a globetrotting tour took a swing at Hilton Head Island. Attorneys Michael Goldstein and Jamie Patton are traveling around the world on a quest to play 18 holes of golf everyday in 2010. Last month, on day 158 of their journey, the duo played Hilton Head Island with a formidable, fun challenge: play 18 holes on 18 different courses on Hilton Head Island in just one day - a feat very unique to our area because of the proximity of so many courses. Michael and Jamie had tee times to play one signature hole at each course throughout the day, being transported Steve Birdwell and Cary Corbitt of The Sea Pines Resort with puregolf2010.com golfers from New Zealand, Michael Goldstein and Jamie Patton. by chamber staff and Ryan Thompson of the Heritage Golf Collection, and finishing on the iconic Harbour Town Golf Links’ world-famous hole #18. The golfers are raising money while they travel for First Tee, an international golf charity that reaches disadvantaged children. Chamber’s VCB Nets 12th Consecutive Pinnacle Award The chamber’s Visitor and Convention Bureau has won its twelfth consecutive Pinnacle Award from the readers of Successful Meetings magazine. The award is given to visitor & convention bureaus, hotels and conference centers for hospitality excellence. The chamber was recognized by meeting planners for an outstanding job in servicing meetings, incentive travel programs, trade shows and conventions during the previous year. “We are delighted to have our sales team recognized as the best-ofthe-best,” Bill Miles, president and CEO of the Hilton Head IslandBluffton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and Convention Bureau said. Pinnacle Award winners will be listed in the Pinnacle Registry, which will be published and mailed to 70,000 meeting planners along with the regular August issue of Successful Meetings. Ty Rietkovich has been appointed Interim Athletic Director at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Rietkovich will lead the Sand Shark athletics program. Rietkovich’s career spans 30 years, including college, high school, semi-professional and competitive travel team sports. Thomas Bouchette is the new South Carolina President of BNC Bank, a whollyowned subsidiary of BNC Bancorp. Bouchette comes to BNC Bank with 24 years experience in the community banking industry. Melissa Roy is the new restaurant manager of Up the Creek Pub at Broad Creek Marina Jen Welper has been named executive chef of Hilton Head Health. Welper, has a culinary nutrition degree from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. Hassett previously spent 3 years with Omega and is once again serving the Hilton Head and Bluffton markets. Eric H. Esquivel has been elected to the Hilton Head Community Advisory Board for NBSC. Esquivel, a native of Danville, Pennsylvania, graduated from Hampton Sydney College and earned degrees in History and Spanish. He is the owner, publisher, and president of La Isla Magazine & Language School. Paul R. Voogd has become partner and general manager to Wine Times 4 in The Village at Wexford. Voogd has been involved with the start-up of the unique wine bar from the construction phase. He has 30 plus years in customer service and technical engineering. Margarita Cordero joins Up the Creek Pub at Broad Creek Marina as kitchen supervisor. Sarah Pejeau joins Plantation Interiors.
