®
Nickel Plate
Nickel Plate is a hot nickel solution applied by the electroplating process to the polished
base metal of a badge. It is silver in color and has a fair degree of hardness. Nickel plate
will sometimes lose some of its luster with age.
Rhodium Plate
Rhodium, an element within the platinum metal group, is a precious metal that is applied by the
electroplating process over a bright nickel base. Rhodium can be distinguished by its brilliant
white finish and is tarnish resistant. It will not discolor or peel from the surface of a badge.
Rho -Glo®*
A base material which has a solid silver color throughout and requires no surface plating.
Highly polished to a brilliant luster, a clear coating is then applied to enhance its durability.
Gold Electroplate
A deposit of 22K+ fine gold electroplate on base material for a rich, bright appearance.
Hi-Glo®*
A base material which has a golden color throughout and requires no surface plating.
Highly polished to a brilliant luster, a clear coating is then applied to enhance its durability.
V.H.B. KK®*
Heavy gold electroplate (HGE) is the ultimate in 24K+ fine gold plate. This process applies a
uniformly thick coating of tarnish proof high karat gold, purer and more durable than gold plate.
Rose Gold
A darkened gold electroplated base material which is hand rubbed to create the appearance
of an antique gold finish.
V.H.B. Black
A subdued black finish over a base material which is then lacquered to provide a durable
finish and also minimizes reflection.
V.H.B. Bronze
A base material, blackened and hand rubbed leaving the appearance of natural oxidation
from age. A clear lacquer coating is applied to enhance its finish and durability.
Two -Tone
A combination of gold and silver colors. Badges with applied panels will normally consist
of Hi–Glo® material for the gold color and Rho-Glo® material for the silver color. Badges of
one-piece construction will consist of Hi–Glo® panels and rhodium background or Rho-Glo®
panels and gold plate background.

General Dealer Information
Orders
All orders for badges and name bars must be submitted on official V.H. Blackinton & Co., Inc. order
forms provided to all dealers at no charge. Other products produced by Blackinton® may be ordered
on your own company order forms. Do not combine badge orders with other items as it will simply
delay processing of your orders. MOST IMPORTANT! Be sure that all information vital to producing
your order is provided initially to help insure timely processing and quicker delivery of your orders.
Wizard Ordering System
Blackinton’s new, proprietary ordering software enables our dealers to generate error-free orders in
less time. That’s because the Wizard reduces the amount of time required to develop the order, then
lets you e-mail or fax it right from your computer. Of course, you can still use regular mail or fax
if you prefer.
Cancellations & Changes to Existing Orders
The nature of our operation is such that changes or cancellation of orders once received are extremely
time consuming and simply delay the processing of orders on-hand. Therefore, we can only allow
changes or cancellations within 24 hours after receipt of orders. NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED.
Deliveries
Most orders received in our office are processed through our order entry system usually within
24 hours. Orders found to be incomplete are set aside until missing information can be obtained.
The process of producing a quality badge is unavoidably time consuming. Although we carry
a large inventory of stock components, they are all in the raw state and require additional work
prior to assembly. Normal delivery on orders has been reduced to 2 to 5 weeks. However, if custom
badge styles, panels, or other components are needed, the lead time unfortunately is extended.
Due to our stringent quality control guidelines, a badge may be rejected at any point throughout the
manufacturing process. Once this occurs it may have to be remade, again causing unavoidable delays.
Delays of this type are minimal however.
Dies
Requests for new dies must include information as to proper ownership. This information is recorded
on our permanent record along with the dealer placing the order to avoid any conflict as to exclusivity.
The die owner, whether it be an authorized dealer or an end user, has the exclusive right to determine
actual usage of the die. Die charges are billed to the customer involved with the understanding that
the actual dies are to remain in the custody of V.H. Blackinton & Co., Inc. for the exclusive use of that
customer unless otherwise notified in writing. Should the customer owning the dies request the
dies be returned, a charge of 25% of the original cost will be imposed to cover the servicing and
handling of the dies.
Art Designs
To assure complete conformity to your requirements, please state clearly and in detail all of your
specifications. Whenever possible, include a rough drawing of your ideas from which Blackinton® will
provide an artist rendering. This artwork remains the property of V.H. Blackinton & Co., Inc. and must
be returned. It cannot be copied or used for competitive bidding without the express written consent
of V.H. Blackinton & Co., Inc.
Quotations
We are happy to provide quotations upon request. All quotations are subject to changes contingent
upon current cost of raw materials, strikes, accidents, or other delays unavoidable or beyond the
company’s control.
