Service to Match Your Expectations • Worldwide network of qualified and certified distributors. • Each distributor is factory trained in sales and service to provide you with the expert assistance you deserve. Product Warranties • Standard two (2) year warranty on all equipment. • Three (3) year vacuum warranty on CryoSystem Series, Doble Series and Vapor Shippers. • Five (5) year vacuum warranty on Stainless Steel Freezers, XC/SC Aluminum Units, and LAB units. • Static evaporation rate and static holding times are nominal. Actual rate and holding time will be affected by the nature of container use, atmospheric conditions, and manufacturing tolerances. 2 Cryopreservation Catalog Cryopreservation All biological materials deteriorate over time–this is an unavoidable physical phenomenon. When the need to study and/or store biological materials arises, a long-term reliable storage solution is needed; cryopreservation is the answer. When exploring cryopreservation as a storage solution, many factors must be considered, including, but not limited to: Critical Temperature, Storage Phase, and Capacity. MVE offers a complete line of storage solutions in liquid or vapor, with temperatures ranging from -125°C to -190°C. Understanding the materials to be stored is vital to determining the critical temperature. Most biological materials must be stored below the Glass Transition of Water (Tg) before long term degradation is minimized. The value of Tg is most commonly agreed to be between -130°C and -135°C. Storage above this temperature will result in poor long term viability of samples. Storage conditions that transition above and below this value will accelerate degradation of samples. Knowing this, one can make the conclusion that colder is better. All MVE freezers are created to maintain the coldest and most consistent temperature in their designed operating ranges. Many models can maintain near liquid nitrogen temperature in the warmest part of the freezer, minimizing transient temperature conditions. Determining the phase of storage is nearly as critical as determining the proper storage temperature. Storing in liquid phase provides the longest possible hold time and coldest possible temperature. Vapor storage minimizes the possibility of cross contamination and exposure of samples to liquid nitrogen. MVE provides a complete line of freezers that can meet any storage solution in liquid or vapor. Selecting the proper size freezer is important to ensuring the long term efficiency and cost effectiveness of the repository. MVE offers the widest, most complete product line in the world and can meet the needs of the small research laboratory as well as the largest long term repository. Your local MVE distributor can help you select a freezer that is large enough to meet your current needs and provide room for growth. Recommended maximum temperature for storage of biological samples. This critical temperature is known as the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of water, which is widely accepted as being in the order of -130° to -135°C. The long-term viability of frozen samples can be seriously compromised if stored above this temperature range. Further, if they experience several transitions through this range in either thermal direction, additional deterioration may occur. It is important that the LN2 freezer maintain a lower temperature, even during filling and sample retrieval cycles. This is much more likely to be achieved if the freezer maintains a temperature of -190°C than if the system is at or near the critical temperature at Optional Step for 800 Series Product Specifications 815P-150 818P-150 819P-150 1536P-150 1539P-150 18200 12 4 14 19500 12 4 15 36400 24 16 13 39200 24 16 14 370 420 463 756 797 52 55 55 133 133 12.5 (317) 30.7 (781) 28.8 (731) 53.3 (1353) 32 (813) 33.19x32 (843x813) 495 (225) 1168 (530) 12.5 (317) 34.5 (877) 28.8 (731) 57 (1449) 32 (813) 33.19x32 (843x813) 515 (234) 1340 (608) 17.5 (445) 28.8 (730) 38.5 (978) 54.9 (1393) 42 (1066) 43.6x54.1 (1107x1172) 7.9 (202) 690 (313) 2037 (924) 17.5 (44) 30.8 (781) 38.5 (978) 56.8 (1445) 42 (1066) 42x46.1 (1066x117) 7.9 (202) 720 (327) 2140 (971) 819P-150 Total Bags/ No. Bags Frame Frames 1536P-150 Total Bags/ No. Bags Frame Frames 1539P-150 Total Bags/ No. Bags Frame Frames MAXIMUM STORAGE CAPACITY 1.2 & 2 mL Vials (Internally Threaded) 15600 Number of Racks 100 cell boxes 12 Number of Racks 25 cell boxes 4 Number of Stages per Rack 12 PERFORMANCE LN2 Capacity L LN2 Capacity Under Platform Vapor Storage L UNIT DIMENSIONS Neck Opening in. Phase Separators Gloves Vapor Inserts 25 Vial Boxes 23 MVE Doble Series The traditional method of export shipment and distribution for biological products such as semen and vaccines has involved wet shipment under liquid nitrogen. In recent years, many traditional shipping companies have either prohibited the shipment of liquid nitrogen, or placed hazardous material surcharges on shipments, making this method of transport uneconomical. In many cases, vapor shippers have become the method of choice for cryogenic shipment. These shippers hold samples at cryogenic temperature and allow a wide variety of shipping methods to be employed, even export shipments. Regarding transport, this is a perfect solution, regarding distribution, it is not. Once at the destination, the samples have to be transferred into a liquid storage tank. Meanwhile, the shipping container must be recovered by the shipping company, incurring an additional “return shipment”. Manufactured from durable, lightweight aluminum, they employ a hydrophobic compound which absorbs the liquid nitrogen to ensure spill-free shipping. Because the absorbent is hydrophobic, it also repels moisture and humidity, assuring maximum holding time and eliminating the necessity to dry units between uses. A protective shipping carton is available for all models (except the SC 20/12V). This carton protects the container from being placed on its side and helps withstand the rigors of transportation. These containers may be used to ship your samples with a “non-hazardous” classification throughout the world, thus reducing costs and helping to assure sample viability.
