Experience the romance of the railroad at the Cheyenne Depot
Museum, housed in the beautifully restored Union Pacific Depot – a
National Historic Landmark – in downtown Cheyenne. Travel on an
emotional and historical journey into the mystery and allure of the
railroad and the people who built it. Children of all ages enjoy the
“touchable” museum experience in the Depot Attic. See the 1929
Art Deco lobby and get information at the Visitor Center. Visit the
Cheyenne Depot Gift Shop for unique gifts and railroad memorabilia.
No visit to Cheyenne is complete until you’ve seen our extensive
Native American and Cowboy collections! Some of the finest examples of Indian beadwork, basketry, pottery, quilled items and jewelry
are on display. The exhibits also feature the US Cavalry, the leatherwork of F.A. Meanea and the silver artistry of Edward H. Bohlin.

Founded in 1895, the Wyoming State Museum exhibits and interprets
the history of Wyoming. Ten galleries tell the story of Wyoming’s
past from prehistory to the present. Bring your kids to the HandsOn-History room and visit the Museum Store.
The cornerstone of the Wyoming State Capitol was laid in Cheyenne
on May 18, 1887. The Dome of the capitol is real gold leaf. The
24-carat gold leaf dome is visible from all roads entering the city.
The Wyoming Capitol has been, and still is, a dominant structure on
the Cheyenne Skyline.
