All members are invited and urged to participate. During the selection process we eat, drink and catch up on summer news. Then we sit down and make our title proposals. Usually there are 25-30 suggestions offered, from which we make eight selections. Books of any genre or age can be proposed, but do be sure to have read the book before suggesting it! Ideally, the book should be in paperback or local libraries should have multiple copies. Do get busy reading and also let me know what dish you might bring to the pot luck. Five very deserving young ladies were presented with scholarships. Tammi Saffell was awarded the AAUW scholarship for a Mature woman. Four graduating senior scholarships were awarded to Aafiya Jamal, Vivian Doan, Haven Neal, and Mishali Patel. We were again delighted to give these awards to such outstanding ladies. There were so many fine applicants that it was a difficult task to select the five winners. We expect to see great things for all of these deserving young ladies. Many thanks to the Scholarship Committee for all their work this year — Carol Crawford, Kay Zilliox, Carol Foster, and Erma Spencer.
