A View From the Hill
From The Pastor . . . .
What does it mean to be a disciple of
Jesus Christ? What does the Lord
expect of me? What “holy habits”
should I cultivate in my life? Our entire church family is invited to enter a
season of decision making and commitment toward the goal of becoming
fully devoted disciples of Jesus
Christ. The theme will be Committed to Christ: Six Steps to a
Generous Life. We are hoping that every household will be present every Sunday during this season so that we can each commit to climb one step closer toward this goal. We will dedicate
ourselves to the Lord and obey what the Lord has commanded
in a spirit of gratitude for all that we have received. Join us the
next six weeks as we will emphasize a different area of faithful
Christian discipleship:
Oct. 5 - Prayer - Matthew 6:5-8
Oct. 12 - Bible Reading - 2 Timothy 3:14-17
Oct. 19 - Worship - Act 2:42-47
Oct. 26 - Witness - John 4:27-30, 39-42
Nov. 2 - Service Romans 12:3-10
Nov. 9 - Giving - 2 Corinthians 8:1-7
Visitation
Pastor B.J. is trying to spend one day a week visiting people in
the congregation. Janice Kelly is scheduling the visits. We are
using Missioninsite (computer demographic program) to help us
map out our congregation and we are scheduling visits according to neighborhoods and areas of town. If you would like to
make an appointment for Pastor B.J. to come and visit, call the
church office and talk to Janice. These meetings are informal
where I simply want to get to know your family and I will be glad
to share about mine. These meetings have been fun and are
helping me know things that I would never learn on Sunday
mornings.

Committed to Christ Ministry Parade
November 9, 2014
As part of our Ministry Celebration Sunday on November
9, we will have a Ministry Parade in the CLC following
lunch. This parade will give each and every ministry at
HUMC a chance to shine! We are asking for representatives from each class, mission, group, organization or
ministry to join the parade and show to all how God has
blessed Hilldale UMC.
You can make a sign, carry a banner, wear a costume,
build a mini-“float,” share your talent……anything that will
identify or describe the ministry that you represent. You
will also have a moment to tell about your ministry for
those who may not know. It will be fun and enlightening
for all to see just how many ways we have been blessed,
and just how many ways our church impacts the world in
which we live. You may be surprised at what you see!
Please sign up on the attendance pad or contact the
church office to reserve a place for your ministry in the
parade. If you need help or ideas, just ask! You definitely don’t want to be left out of the fun, so sign up soon!
Hand and Foot Warmers
Our first and second graders are
learning about sharing and generosity.
As a hands on project we are going to
be collecting warmers for our local day
shelter. We will have a special collection basket outside our Sunday School
room starting Sept. 21st and ending
Oct. 12th. Thank you,
May & Traci

PASSION EXISTS TO SEE A GENERATION
LEVERAGE THEIR LIVES FOR WHAT MATTERS MOST...To live in such a way that their
journey on earth counts for what is most important in the end...the fame of the One who
rescues and restores, and the privilege we
have to amplify His name in everything we do.
Hundreds of thousands of young people have come together in stadiums and arenas across the USA and around the
globe to worship Jesus, breathe in His presence, be shaped
by the His Word and join hands to extend His mercy and
grace to the world.
But it's not about the crowd or the numbers. Passion is rooted in the potential of each individual story and every unique
voice. Come raise your voice with us this January. We want
to make a difference! Spread the word, invite your friends,
be a part of a generation united for Jesus' Fame!
Cost for each individual is $165.00. For more information
and to register, please contact Jodi King at [email protected], (931) 436-3883 or Nate Partee at [email protected], (615) 613-4109. We must have all registrations turned in no later than November 30.
More than a conference. More than an event.
More than a feeling. Passion is a movement.
Come. Join us. Stake your place. Raise your voice.
