Our meetings are free, freedom isn't.
The Needy Veteran Project was a huge success!
There were many gifts
for the children and an abundance of canned goods, etc. A fellow
Patriot donated 12 big hams and a huge box of sweet potatoes.
If that wasn't enough, BCP collected cash amounting to
$850.00!
On behalf of the Berks County Patriot Members, Linda Brancadora presented a
check to Doug Graybill at the Stand Down Event on Saturday, December 21
You truly have the Christmas Spirit of Giving. This spirit lives throughout the
whole year.
Thank you, Thank you.
Obamacare and Guns
The Obamacare debacle is more than just government overreach.
Beyond the obvious intrusions into what should be private transaction
between a provider of a service (whether doctor or insurance
company) and their client, the threat to privacy is staggering.
The numerous scandals surrounding the abuse of power by various
government agencies should send chills down the spines of every
American, but especially those who own guns.

New Year --- New Laws
Obamacare, pot, guns and drones
Washington (CNN) -- Not everyone subscribes to a New Year's
resolution, but Americans will be required to follow new laws in 2014.
Some 40,000 measures taking effect range from sweeping, national
mandates under Obamacare to marijuana legalization in Colorado, drone
prohibition in Illinois and transgender protections in California.
Although many new laws are controversial, they made it through
legislatures, public referendum or city councils and represent the shifting
composition of American beliefs.

Watch Your Guns Around Obamacare
In January (2013), Obama issued 23 executive actions and orders
regarding firearms. Order 16 stressed that Obamacare does not prohibit
doctors from asking patients about their firearms, and the fact sheet
includes, "Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from
warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence."

Magpul Leaving Colorado
as, all becf th these increased gun regulations hurt the U.S. economy.
Magpul announced earlier today that it is moving its
production, distribution and shipping operations to
Cheyenne and its headquarters in Texas. This decision is
just them staying true to their word promising to leave the
state if new gun control measures were passed.
The new headquarters will be in in north-central Texas, but
no exact location has been chosen. Of course this move
will greatly help Texas’ economy. And of course, Colorado
will be losing a major production center and those tax
dollars will be gone.
Here’s just another reason why gun control laws are not in
our favor. They not only take away our constitutional rights,
but they also hurt the economy, which clearly we don’t
need!
Heather Ginsberg, Townhall, 1/2/2014
A Congressional Research Service (CRS) report shows that while gun ownership climbed
from 192 million firearms in 1994 to 310 million firearms in 2009, crime fell—and
fell sharply.
According to the report, the "firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide" rate was
6.6 per 100,000 Americans in 1993. Following the exponential growth in the number of
guns, that rate fell to 3.6 per 100,000 in 2000.
This rate rose from 2004 to 2005 and got as high as 3.9 in 2006 and 2007, but it then
resumed falling in 2008, the year the Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller
that individual firearm possession is Constitutionally protected—particularly for selfdefense. This figure fell to 3.2 per 100,000 by 2011.
In other words, as the number of firearms almost doubled over a nearly 20-year period, the
"firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide" rate was more than halved.
Additionally, the overall murder rate dropped from 9.0 per 100,000 in 1994 to 4.7 in 2011.
The overall number of estimated murder victims fell from 23,326 in 1994 to 14,612 in 2011.
For estimated firearms-related murder victims, those numbers are 16,333 in 1994 and 9,903
in 2011.
The firearm category that led the way from 1994 through 2009 was handguns. And these
were "mostly pistols, revolvers, and derringers," the most concealable types of guns.
So after after all the pro-gun control grandstanding and the relentless focus on how the socalled easy availability of guns drives up crime, the CRS report shows that more guns—
especially more concealable guns—has actually correlated with less crime.
