Setting New Standards
Transmission
Once you drive the 3-speed hydrostatic
transmission in the Challenger
RoGator 418S, it becomes clear that not
all hydrostatic systems are the same. This
system was designed specifically to meet
the demands of modern agriculture, to
drive it is to believe it.
RoGator offers 3 speed shifts on the
move with a similar feel in operation to a
4
power shift transmission. This combined
with Challenger’s unique “drive sensing
system”, gives tractor drivability in a
hydrostatic machine. In transport this
system can reduce fuel consumption whilst
increasing driver comfort and convenience.
In the field operating with RoGator’s
cruise control system, “drive sensing”
ensures that maximum power is
transmitted to the wheels at all times,
giving exceptional power response for
hill climbing and tough conditions.
All four Poclain high-specification wheel
motors are precisely matched to the
high capacity pump. This delivers class
leading torque to all four wheel motors,
offering lower system pressures to further
enhance durability. The optional electronic
traction control system can be specified
to deliver power equally to all four wheel
motors to maximise traction in extreme
operating conditions.
a quieter environment with higher trim
levels and greater airflow to and from
the heating and air-conditioning system.
This maintains a fresh and comfortable
environment for the operator, irrespective
of ambient conditions. All these features
add up to provide the most comfortable
working environment in it’s class.
For added safety and durability in
extreme terrain, Challenger RoGator 418S
can be specified with high capacity,
truck style drum brakes. To demonstrate
Challenger’s confidence in the
RoGator 418S, where local legal
regulations allow, the vehicle has been
tested and approved to tow a trailer with
a gross laden weight of 11 tonnes.
The light and precise hydrostatic steering
system gives excellent manoeuvrability
with selection from 2 to 4 wheel steer via a
foot switch. The adjustable steering column
ensures the perfect driving position.
Cab
On competitive self-propelled sprayers,
the cabs often appear to be something
of an afterthought. Not so with the
Challenger RoGator 418S. The 418S
updated cabin was designed for vision
and comfort, The large glass area
provides excellent visibility, especially to
the rear three-quarter area, giving perfect
line of sight to the spray boom on each
side. Comfort is always paramount in a
challenger machine and the large ISO
mounted cab has been updated to offer

Efficient Power
AGCOs own SISU 4.9L engine meets the
latest emission regulations and is tailored
specifically to meet the power and torque
demands of the RoGator’s Hydrostatic
transmission, ensuring the optimum in
power and fuel economy.
RoGator’s engine bay offers excellent
access to all maintenance tasks via two
sliding engine covers, which protect
engine, cooling package and hydraulic
systems and control external noise
making the RoGator 418S quiet on the
outside as well.
Precision Applications
Challenger 418S Spray Pack
The outstanding performance and durability
of the Challenger RoGator 418S chassis
deserves a spray pack to match. The Chafer
spray pack offers superb build quality with
the latest spraying technology giving
unrivalled productivity.
centrifugal pump enables the tank to
be filled quickly, saving downtime and
easily achieves high application rates
at ever increasing spraying speeds. The
centrifugal design is also chosen because
it has few moving parts and is simple and
economic to maintain.
Operator Station
Stainless Steel Tank
3000 or 3500 litre baffled stainless steel
tanks offer no compromise on quality or
durability. A high volume tank agitation
system ensures complete mixing for
optimum chemical application, while the
sump design gives complete empting.
Cleaning is quick and easy thanks to the
aggressive tank rising system eliminating
the buildup of chemical residues.
The sprayer’s operator station groups
swithches for engine speed and pump
control, quick release points for filling,
discharge, and fast fill, all in one
central location for simple and effective
operation. Two multiport valves control
everything from tank fill to tank wash.
The operator’s storage locker and hand
wash facility are also within easy reach.
The optional electronically controlled
“Boom Flush” system can be added to
the sprayer to allow cleaning of the spray
lines without having to leave the cab.
The stainless steel chemical induction
hopper is capable of coping with large
volumes of liquid or powdered chemical.
Chemical is rapidly transferred into the
tank via a powerful venturi. Chemical
containers, which now need to be triple
rinsed, are thoroughly cleaned by the
hopper’s spinning can rinse optic. An
addition of Chafer’s unique can draining
lid further improves can rinsing.
A dry sight gauge displays tank contents
whilst filling the sprayer and a digital in-cab
tank display gives accurate readings on the
remaining volume during spraying.

Durable Boom
Two proven boom formats are available.
The twin-fold 18-30m and triple fold
30-36m boom have been developed
to meet today’s modern spraying
requirements. Both booms are suspended
on a unique three frame suspension
system designed to dampen the boom
for bounce, tilt and yaw.
Independent boom tilt is available on all
booms. On undulating ground “Chafer
Contour” automatic boom leveling can
be fitted. Ultrasonic sensors measure
the height of the boom above the crop
and automatically adjust the boom tilt

to maintain a consistent and precise
spraying height. This not only minimizes
spray drift but also reduces operator
fatigue over a long working day. Varying
sizes of stainless steel spray line are used
to suit the range of application rates. Multi
outlet nozzle bodies combined with a
vast array of spray nozzles give unlimited
spraying flexibility whatever the crop and
spraying conditions. Air valves control
the sprayer’s boom sections providing
instantaneous reaction to the operator’s
commands or automated control.
High pressure spray line recirculation
allows the operator to prime the spray
lines with full strength chemical before
spraying begins, guaranteeing even
chemical coverage. This system also
ensures thorough cleaning of the spray
lines with clean water after spraying.
When the operator has completed
spraying the tank, filter, pump and spray
lines can be completely drained via quick
release couplings. This process is quick
and simple and means that anti freeze
is not needed in frosty conditions saving
time and expense.
Operator Controls
A highly accurate and proven TeeJet
844, flow or pressure based, application
rate control system meets today’s
stringent spray requirements. This system
maintains a constant application rate
with changing forward speeds, displaying
the volume, area sprayed and tank
contents. Individual field information can
be recorded using the numerous memory
settings. All sprayer controls commonly
used in operation including master spray
control, boom section control as well as
boom tilt, lift, lower and independent
tilt are all at thumbs reach on the
multifunction Challenger 418S joystick.
Customers wanting the latest technology
can chose the addition of the Centreline
230 automatic boom switching system
offering full GPS boom control to increase
spraying accuracy and improve work rates.
The optional Topcon X20 control system
takes sprayer control and operation
to the next level. Topcon X20 can be
tailored to management requirements to
control application rate, boom switching,
automatic steering, application mapping,
and field record keeping. Providing the
Challenger 418S with the most advanced
sprayer control system on the market.
