Adria Crutchfield is the Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice
President for Capital Projects at the New York City Housing Authority,
the largest public housing authority in the country providing homes to
over 600,000 New Yorkers. In this capacity, Adria supports the dayto-day operations and management of 400 employees responsible for
planning, designing, and delivering a $2 billion five-year construction
program. Her career in public service spans federal, state, and local
government legislative and executive branches where she’s held roles
in external affairs, issue advocacy, and coalition building. She serves
as a co-chair for a campaign to make Atlantic Avenue safer for
pedestrians, transit users, and cyclists as part of the Transportation
Alternatives Brooklyn Committee. She is a graduate of Washington
University in St. Louis and American University. Adria joined Coro
LNY to develop new relationships with professionals beyond the
public sector and to increase her capacity to lead large organizations
through change and in accomplishing ambitious goals aimed at
improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations.
Aifuwa Ehigiator is the founder at Our Street, a startup that will use
community investment to create energy efficient affordable housing.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he was awarded the POSSE
Foundation Scholarship and attended Middlebury College where he
studied a joint major of Economics and Women’s and Gender Studies.
Following his studies, he worked for six years at Bloomberg L.P. most
recently in an implementation role in an order management system
called Bloomberg TOMS. He quit last April to start Our Street and
more recently started working part time as a development consultant
at the largest emergency food pantry in Brooklyn – St. John’s Bread
and Life. He will be serving on the Board of Brownsville’s Central
Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (CBEDC) beginning
this fall. He hopes to have a positive impact in communities like the
ones he grew up in through the work of his social enterprise.
Anthony M. Guerrero is the Director of Facilities and Operations at
Natural Resources Defense Council. In addition to managing all real
estate and construction projects for NRDC, he leads development of
sustainability strategies for the core operations of NRDC, focusing on
the triple bottom line: social equity, sustaining the environment and
financial viability. Anthony puts into practice highly sustainable
initiatives in the internal operations of NRDC to demonstrate
transformation in Operations Management. Under his leadership
NRDC completed the world’s first tenant improvement LBC Petal
Certification in its Chicago office, and then completed the second in
NRDC’s Beijing, China office. Anthony has successfully completed
other first in class-projects in pursuit of a truly sustainable operation.
In Anthony’s personal life he is committed to creating diversity in the
environmental community. He believes that only with a truly diverse
group of stakeholders interested in making communities sustainable
will we be successful.

Anusha Venkataraman is the Director of Community Partnerships
at NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development. Her
work at HPD focuses on engaging communities in neighborhood
planning processes and the preservation of affordable housing. Prior
to her public sector work, Anusha supported community-based
nonprofits in utilizing cultural strategies to empower residents in
decision making processes. She was mostly recently the Director of the
Green Light District sustainability initiative at El Puente in North
Brooklyn. She currently serves as the Chair of the North Brooklyn
Open Space Alliance Community Committee, and is on the board of
the Arts & Democracy Project. Anusha holds a Master in City and
Regional Planning from the Pratt Institute, and a Bachelor’s degree in
International Relations from Brown University. Anusha joined Coro
LNY to build the knowledge and network to institutionalize
progressive change through creative strategies in NYC.
Aparna Mekala, MPH is Healthcare Practice Director at
CohnReznick, LLP, one of the nation’s top rated public accounting
firms focused on serving the needs of non-profit organizations.
Aparna’s clients are predominantly safety net providers including
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), social service
organizations and community-based hospitals.
Specializing in
strategic planning, program development and financial/operational
assessments, her recent work includes developing innovative
affiliations between community-based providers, specialists and
various stakeholders with the goal of achieving effective population
health management. She served as a Board Member at the
Commission on the Public’s Health System, an advocacy organization
committed to increasing access to healthcare for vulnerable New
Yorkers. Aparna is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and achieved
a Master of Public Health from Boston University. She served as a
strong voice advocating health care need among New Yorkers and
joined Coro LNY to learn more effective methods to lead change across
stakeholders.
Ariel Stengel is the Department Coordinator in the Quality
Employment Unit at the Ford Foundation, where she manages the
unit and supports grantee engagement. She also served as a Program
Officer on Ford’s local grantmaking initiative, the Good Neighbor
Committee, where her team funded over $500,000 to local education
organizations. Ariel started her career at a nonprofit organization that
helped lower income children attend quality early learning programs.
She convened local and national advocates to improve access to
quality early education for all children. Ariel received her Master’s
degree in Urban Affairs where her thesis focused on education
equality. She volunteers with New York Cares as team leader for a
project at a family shelter in the Bronx. Ariel envisions an equitable
society where low-income families have access to enrichment
programs and hopes that Coro LNY can teach her the skills needed to
create these pathways in New York City.

Brendan Healey is Assistant Vice President, Economic Incentives
- Loans and Grants at Empire State Development (ESD), the State of
New York’s chief economic development agency. Among many other
responsibilities at ESD, Brendan is the project manager on a number
of important New York City projects and is tasked with
administration of ESD’s grant and loan assistance for those projects.
Prior to joining ESD, Brendan worked at New York City Economic
Development Corporation, managing a portfolio that involved
disposition and redevelopment of New York City-owned properties.
Brendan is a graduate of New York University with a Bachelor of
Arts in Economics and a Master in Urban Planning. Brendan joined
Coro LNY to improve his leadership skills in order to allow him to
continue to manage projects successfully in an increasingly complex
environment.
Bronia E. Ashford is a Management and Project Specialist at the
Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Administration
for Children and Families (ACF). ACF promotes the economic and
social well-being of families, children and communities. Bronia
serves as a policy advisor and manages strategic partnerships. She
works in collaboration with federal, state, tribal nations, and local
stakeholders to implement cross-cutting initiatives and direct multidisciplinary coalitions. Throughout her career in New York, North
Carolina, and Virginia she has held various roles in human services.
She is a graduate of Hampton University (Psychology), Long Island
University (Counseling), Walden University (Public Policy) and has a
graduate certificate in Organizational Leadership. She is committed
to fostering strong, healthy communities that improve the quality of
life of children and families. Bronia has joined Coro to strengthen
partnerships in New York City and to identify and implement
solutions that transcend traditional program boundaries.
Caitlin Lewis is the Director of External Affairs at the Times
Square Alliance, the business improvement district tasked with
improving and promoting Times Square. While at the Alliance, she
spent two years managing the activities of the NYC BID Association,
which provides $116M in yearly supplemental services to 72 NYC
neighborhoods. Before arriving in New York, Caitlin organized the
Pennsylvania delegation to the 2012 Democratic National
Convention in Charlotte, and she worked for the White House
Liaison at the US Dept. of Agriculture in Washington DC. She is a
proud native of San Luis Obispo, CA and earned a BA in Social
Studies from Harvard College with a focus on agricultural policy and
food systems. Caitlin enjoys exploring the five boroughs as both a
runner and a food/coffee enthusiast, and she comes to Coro with a
strong interest in the role of public-private partnerships in sparking
community-based economic development.

Cal Zarin is the Founder and Principle of Shared Value Media
(SVM). Founded in 2011, SVM helps funders harness the power of
local communities. They accomplish this by partnering with
nonprofits to consolidate their outreach platforms and engage the
community in one voice. SVM also specializes in quantifying the
social and brand impact resulting from these community
investments. Working with funders ranging from EmblemHealth to
a wide array of creative and media agency partners, Shared Value
Media is guiding the launch of a broad spectrum of for-profit / nonprofit platforms throughout the country. Before launching SVM, Cal
led a consulting practice where he supported the fundraising and
programmatic objectives of national nonprofits.
Camille Hastick-Ortiz is a Business Consultant at the Caribbean
American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a statewide
membership organization which has developed expertise in
providing business assistance to small and start-up business owners
in areas of business planning, financing, certification, procurement,
business expansion, and export/import opportunities. She has
worked in the private sector for over 10 years and transitioned to
the nonprofit sector with a passion to continue this work of
providing assistance to small businesses in socially and
economically disadvantaged areas. Camille earned her B.A. in
Economics from New York University. She considers herself an
advocate for economic development and joined Coro LNY to
develop her leadership skills and create new ways to implement
innovative economic growth, while strengthening the City’s
competitive position and facilitating investments that grow quality
jobs throughout the five boroughs.
Carmen De La Rosa currently serves as Chief of Staff to New
York City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, representing the
communities of Inwood, Washington Heights and Marble Hill. In
her role, Carmen oversees the operations, strategy and focus of both
the Legislative and District offices. Prior to serving as Chief of Staff,
Carmen served as the Legislative and Budget Director for Council
Member Rodriguez for 5 years, rising to his Chief of Staff after
serving as Campaign Manager for his successful 2013 campaign.
Throughout her career in government, Carmen has developed an
expertise on how to maximize crucial resources for low income
communities. She is a graduate of Fordham University with a
degree in Political Science and a certification in Peace and Justice
Studies. As a lifelong activist, Carmen is passionate about using
government as a tool for social change and a vehicle to empower
and support communities.

Carrie Grassi is Senior Policy Advisor at the Mayor’s Office of
Recovery and Resiliency. She manages interagency collaboration
and community participation in the implementation of climate
change resiliency efforts, and oversees the technical review and
communication of flood risk standards. Carrie previously worked as
the Freshkills Park Outreach and Land Use Manager for the
Department of Parks & Recreation. She holds a Masters in City
Planning from MIT and a BA in Urban Studies from the University
of Pennsylvania. Carrie has worked in both government and nonprofit institutions focused on project implementation, civic
engagement, and environmental stewardship. She is a City Year
alumna and believes strongly in volunteerism as a powerful form of
civic engagement. She is excited to be a part of Coro LNY to explore
and build new leadership skills to equip her to work more effectively
with City agencies, external stakeholders, and community partners.
Cathleen Collins is a Senior Vice President at Capalino+Company,
joining the firm in 2014 to help develop its new Corporate Social
Responsibility practice. She brings a decade of experience in the
public sector, with a particular focus on education and youth
development. Prior to joining Capalino+Company, Cathleen served
as Chief of Staff at the School of Education at Hunter College, where
she worked with the Dean to implement and monitor major School
of Education initiatives. Previously, she held several senior positions
at the New York City Department of Youth and Community
Development, where she oversaw the launch of a pilot program in
adolescent literacy and managed the agency’s public-private
partnerships. Cathleen holds a BA in English from Providence
College and a MPA from New York University’s Wagner School of
Public Service.
Charles Ortiz is the Director of Academics at the Harlem
Children’s Zone and oversees HCZ’s afterschool elementary, middle,
and high school academic programs and serves on the Quality
Improvement & Strategic Planning Unit. Prior to HCZ Charles spent
seven years teaching in public, private, and charter schools in
Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, and his hometown of Philadelphia. A
graduate of The University of the Arts with a BM in Jazz
Performance and MAT in Music Education, he co-created Limelight
Performing Arts Community Center, a CBO offering innovative,
culturally relevant, student interest-driven performing arts
education. Charles served on the board of Cohmar Integrated
Health where he was the Vice-Chairman of the Children's Services
sub-committee. With a commitment to creating educational equity
and social justice, Charles joined Coro to gain the knowledge and
skills needed to establish innovative and effective solutions for
community wide and cross-sector systemic change throughout New
York City.

Claudia Chan is the Government Relations Manager at LaGuardia
Community College, a nationally recognized leader among
community colleges for boundary-breaking success educating
underserved students. Claudia is responsible for advocating at the
local, state and national level on funding and policy issues that affect
community colleges as well as seeking collaborations and
partnerships with government officials, advocacy groups and
community leaders. Throughout her career, she has focused on
education policy having majored in Elementary Education and
worked for six years in New York State Government as Legislative
Analyst for the Chair of the Assembly Education Committee. She is
currently a member of Queens Community Board 2, Central Astoria
Local Development Coalition and NYC Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT). She received her BA from Macaulay Honors
College at Hunter College and her MPA from Baruch College.
Coleen Balbert is a Senior Supervising Assistant District Attorney
in the Trial Division at the New York County District Attorney’s
Office where she is responsible for handling homicides, sexual
assaults and supervising junior assistant district attorneys. Since
she began her career in the office she has served as an assistant
district attorney in the Trial Division, Frauds Bureau and as Deputy
Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit. She joined the Kings County District
Attorney’s Office as Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau where she held
that position until she rejoined the New York County District
Attorney’s Office. She is a member of the Family Violence & Sexual
Assault Legislative Subcommittee and The New York City Bar
Association, Sex and Law Committee. She received her BA at
Rutgers University and Juris Doctorate from Pace University School
of Law where she currently serves as an adjunct professor of law. As
a career prosecutor, Coleen joined Coro LNY in order to develop new
skills that will help her better serve the community in which she
works.
Damian Rivera joined Accenture in 1997 and is a Managing
Director in Accenture’s Resources Practice. He focuses on Customer
Care Transformation for energy companies. Damian works on all
project
phases
including
Strategy,
Technology,
Digital
Transformation, and Operations. He is also Accenture’s Hispanic
American Employee Resource Group Managing Director focused on
defining the strategy of the group with a concentration on recruiting,
career progression and community involvement. Having grown up in
Harlem, Damian has a passion for community involvement in NYC
and is co-chair of a local non-profit advisory board (Per Scholas) that
focuses on training underserved communities in IT. He holds a
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University.
Damian believes that communities have an energy that is maximized
when nonprofits, governments and corporations come together to
solve problems. Through Coro LNY Damian has confidence that he
will learn how to help NYC release its community energy.

Dawn Miller is Chief of Staff at the New York City Taxi and
Limousine Commission (TLC), the agency that oversees the
transportation system that serves more than a million New Yorkers
and visitors each day. She and the TLC team focus on improving
access to safe, convenient, accessible for-hire transportation
throughout the city, promoting economic, social and environmental
responsibility in the industries they regulate. Dawn previously
served as Director of Research and Evaluation at TLC and as a
Research Associate at the Urban Institute. She holds a Master of
Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor of
Government from the University of Virginia. Dawn lives with her
husband, Jim Thomson, in Brooklyn, and loves parks, beaches,
group fitness and stoop-sitting. Her interests include
transportation, technology and economic development. She joined
Coro LNY to develop new skills to tackle public policy challenges in
these rapidly changing sectors.
Derick Bowers is the Business Manager of the Community
Improvement Project at The Doe Fund, a non-profit organization
providing a hand up to people with histories of homelessness,
incarceration and substance abuse. Derick manages contracts and
develops new business growth for the Community Improvement
Project, The Doe Fund's flagship social enterprise, which cleans and
maintains 170 miles of New York City's streets while also providing
transitional jobs for hundreds of men. As a graduate of Howard
University in Washington D.C., Derick is passionate about urban
economic development and minority youth empowerment. He
joined Coro LNY to learn from other leaders, and to create
innovative ways to shape a better New York City.
Desiree Vazquez Barlatt is Program Officer at The Teagle
Foundation, where she assists in grantmaking strategy and oversees
an initiative that partners NYC community-based organizations
with colleges/universities to introduce talented but underserved
high school students to liberal arts education. Prior to joining the
Foundation, Desiree served as a student activities advisor for New
York University’s Center for Student Activities, Leadership, and
Service. She also spent several years supporting the operational
efforts of Teach For America's NY regional office. In her spare time,
she volunteers with iMentor to support her mentee’s pursuit of
higher education. Through Coro LNY, she hopes to continue to
deepen her understanding of the challenges students confront
toward college access and success, and to develop collaborative
approaches to remove these barriers. Desiree earned her M.A. at
New York University in Higher Education/Student Personnel
Administration and graduated with high honors from Rutgers
University with a B.A. in Communication.

Devin Mathis is the Deputy Director of ArtBridge, a nonprofit
that collaborates with emerging artists to transform their
neighborhoods with public art exhibitions. Before joining
ArtBridge, Devin worked at Chashama, managing artists’ temporary
installations and studio spaces in underutilized real estate
throughout NYC and was the marketing manager for the Children’s
Museum of the Arts. She completed her Master in Arts and Cultural
Management at the Pratt Institute with a focus on building creative
capital in communities that are recovering from natural disasters.
Devin serves as an Advisory Council member at ioby, and
participates in the Project for Public Spaces Placemaking
Leadership Council. She is a passionate supporter of strengthening
the arts and cultural communities, focused on ensuring that all
individuals have an equal role in creating an equitable, just and
engaged society. Devin joined Coro LNY because she believes the
skills and connections she will gain will help her lead positive
change on public issues affecting all New Yorkers.
Dipal Shah is director of the Midtown Community Court and
leads a staff dedicated to enhancing public trust in the justice
system and developing meaningful alternatives to incarceration. An
admitted attorney, Dipal was previously Director of Policy
Development and Programming at the American Constitution
Society and practiced law at several nationally recognized law firms.
He holds a J.D., with honors from American University,
Washington College of Law and holds a B.A., with honors from
Northwestern University. He was selected as one of the “Best 40
Lawyers under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association in 2013.
Dipal is a member of several bar associations and is passionate
about access to justice, criminal justice, worker rights and LGBTQ
rights issues. He also enjoys traveling and playing tug-of-war with
his dog, Bonsai. He hopes that Coro LNY will help him to further
his efforts in curtailing mass incarceration and elevating the needs
of the city’s most marginalized residents.
Farrah Lafontant is the Community Initiatives Associate at the
Brooklyn Arts Council, one of Brooklyn’s leading arts organizations
serving artists and art groups and providing residents with
affordable access to the arts. Through its Creative Coalitions
Program, Farrah provides technical assistance and professional
development to artists in the East New York, Brownsville and East
Bushwick sections of Brooklyn. She draws from her ten plus years
of experience in community engagement to support the cultivation
of audience development for those artists and organizations.
Farrah serves on the board of ARTs East NY, is a member of the
Brooklyn Eagles, a Girl Scouts of Greater NY volunteer and has
served as an Adult Literacy Tutor with the Brooklyn Public Library.
As a proud native New Yorker, Farrah considers it her duty to
ensure that NYC continues to have a vibrant and diverse future;
Coro LNY will surely aid her with that mission.

Fazeela Siddiqui is a Staff Attorney at The Legal Aid Society in
Queens, NY. She is a Regional Fellow of the American Muslim Civic
Leadership Institute (AMCLI) and was formerly the Programs
Manager at the American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA),
where she directed the Women’s Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and
Equality (WISE). She has worked at the New York City Commission
on Human Rights, was a Voting Rights Fellow at the Asian American
Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) and served as a law
clerk at the Vera Institute of Justice and the Center for Constitutional
Rights. Fazeela holds a law degree from the Northeastern University
School of Law, a Master's in Social Policy & Evaluation from the
University of Michigan School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts
from the University of Michigan. She joined Coro to engage with
change-makers who seek paradigm shifts in NYC.
Henry L. Greenidge is the Director of Special Projects at the New
York Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) where he focuses on
mayoral initiatives and departmental priority projects in the borough
of Brooklyn. In this role, Henry is able to work with elected officials,
community boards, and community- based organizations to form
collaborative partnerships to support the balanced future growth of
Brooklyn. Prior to joining NYC DOT, he worked in Washington, D.C.
on infrastructure-related policy issues such as broadband adoption,
climate change, and resiliency at the White House Office of
Management and Budget (OMB), the U.S. Department of
Transportation (USDOT), and the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC). Henry holds a BA in communications from
Hampton University, and a JD from the University of Baltimore
School of Law. Henry joined Coro LNY to explore policy issues
impacting New York City and to learn best practices among
professionals committed to public service.
Jennifer Gardner is a Senior Project Planner with the New York
City Department of Parks and Recreation, where she manages a
portfolio of planning, policy and strategic priority projects, including
the Community Parks Initiative, a multi-phase capital program that
will transform parks within NYC’s highest-need neighborhoods and
invest in local partnership development and programming. Jennifer’s
work with NYC Parks also includes resiliency and waterfront design
and planning projects. Previously, Jennifer led zoning and
development proposals through the City’s public approval process for
the Manhattan Borough President’s Office, consulted at WXY
Architecture and Urban Design and completed a fellowship at Pratt
Center for Community Development. She holds an MS in City and
Regional Planning from Pratt Institute and a BA in English Literature
from Cornell University. Jennifer is passionate about promoting
equity and opportunity through human-centered design and sound
public policy. Jennifer joined Coro to develop her leadership capacity
and explore how interdisciplinary and cross-sector partnerships can
lead to urban innovation.

Jill Reyes is the Director of the Bronx Criminal Court and Domestic
Violence Police Programs at Safe Horizon, the nation’s largest
organization helping victims of crime and abuse. Jill oversees the
daily operations of both programs, where she leads her staff of four
case managers and a senior case manager to support and empower
individuals, their families, and communities that have been impacted
by crime and abuse. Throughout her career in the nonprofit sector, she
has held various roles working at the Bronx Criminal Court, Bronx
Family Court Program’s Supervised Visitation Program, and the Bronx
Family Justice Center. She has participated in numerous community
outreach events and conducts college and community presentations to
spread Safe Horizon’s work and promote awareness of services. She is
a graduate of John Jay College with a Bachelors of Arts degree in
Criminal Justice and a Minor in English Honors. Throughout her
tenure with Safe Horizon, she has worked tirelessly to provide a voice
to victims and survivors, whose voices often go unheard in an often
intimidating criminal justice process and joined Coro LNY to develop
and enhance new leadership skills to promote policy change on public
issues impacting New York City.
Jobin Abraham is the Director of Planning, for the Primary Care
Information Project at the New York City Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene. Jobin couples his expertise in public health and
business to partner, negotiate and accomplish results across silos. His
efforts to strengthen the agency’s performance management system
has enabled planning and evaluation experts to devise communitycentric, interdisciplinary strategies with greater ease, rigor and
transparency. During his training in public health at Columbia
University, Jobin became attuned to the importance of systems
thinking and inter-sectoral partnerships in overcoming the
inextricably linked social, economic and political threats to
community well-being. Jobin used this insight to begin his career in
healthcare at Bayer; where he discovered his passion for change
management and organizational effectiveness. Jobin welcomes this
opportunity to grow his leadership skills and join Coro’s coalition of
entrepreneurs, policy-makers and other change agents to inspire
collective action and a more resilient future for our city.
John Stinar is a Service Director for the Risk Control Consulting
group at Liberty Mutual Insurance, a global property and casualty
insurance carrier. John is responsible for planning, monitoring and
evaluating consulting projects designed to reduce an organizations
total cost of risk and improve safety processes. John holds a
Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Colorado at Boulder, and a Master’s of Science in Organization
Change Management from The New School University, where he
served as a faculty member of their Environmental Policy and
Sustainability Management program. John considers himself an
advocate for public health and joined Coro LNY to sharpen his
argument for the importance of safety and health as part of effective
corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

Jordan Hare is a Senior Analyst at HR&A Advisors, a leading
economic development and real estate consultancy based in New
York City. At HR&A, Jordan leads a range of analytic projects that
help public and private clients advance economic revitalization and
real estate development strategies by enhancing the built
environment. Jordan‘s work frequently examines the regional
impacts of large-scale transportation and land-use projects, and he
has analyzed the potential real estate and economic impacts of
projects such as the DC Streetcar, the proposed Long Island Rail
Road Third Track project, the Move New York congestion pricing
plan, and the upcoming MTA Capital Program, among others.
Jordan holds a B.A. from New York University; prior to HR&A,
Jordan spent twelve years developing trading software for Morgan
Stanley. Jordan joined Coro LNY to broaden his perspective on the
tools and practices that can lead to effective leadership in urban
policy.
Jorge L. Jorge is the Director of Leasing for Lisa Management,
Inc., a real estate management company which manages over 1,000
apartments in New York City. Jorge oversees leasing operations for
Lisa Management’s market rate rental portfolio. Throughout his
career in the private sector, he has worked at CBS Corporation, UBS
Corporation and has consulted for Thompson Contract, Broadridge
Financial and other small and mid-sized companies. He received
his Bachelors in Finance and Master’s in Accounting from St.
John’s University. He enjoys participating in New York Cares
program and in St. John’s University’s Alumni Association. Jorge
believes that real estate is one of the most impactful elements in
people’s lives. He joined Coro LNY to learn how to use real estate
through the public sector for the public’s good.
Katy Rubin is Founding Executive Director of Theatre of the
Oppressed NYC, a nonprofit that partners with communities facing
discrimination to inspire transformative action through theatre.
She has facilitated Forum and Legislative Theater workshops and
performances in partnership with various communities including
homeless adults and youth; LGBT homeless teens; people living
with HIV/AIDS; recent immigrants; and court-involved youth. Katy
trained with Augusto Boal at the Center for Theatre of the
Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro, with Jana Sanskriti in India and with
Cardboard Citizens in London. She has taught facilitators in
Nicaragua, the Netherlands, Norway and New Orleans as well as
NYC. She holds a BFA in Acting from Boston University, and is a
Theatre Communications Group Global Connections grantee and a
Youth for Human Rights Award recipient. Katy has joined Coro
LNY to continue exploring the intersection of art and politics, and
their combined potential for concrete social change.

Kimberly Chen is a Senior Account Supervisor in the Health
practice at Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm.
Kimberly leads strategic planning and execution and oversees client
relationships for leading healthcare companies. In her career, she
has worked on communications initiatives across diverse issues that
impact global health, such as diabetes, heart disease and oncology.
An avid traveler, Kimberly spent two years living in Shanghai,
China, where she worked in communications and business
development. Kimberly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Environmental Science from Columbia University and is certified to
teach English as a foreign language. Previously, she was a volunteer
instructor for education programs through the YMCA, Community
Impact and America Reads. A New York City native, Kimberly
volunteers with New York Cares and joined Coro LNY to contribute
to positive change around public issues that impact how we live and
work together in NYC.
Lucy Muirhead is the Vice President of Communications at The
Century Foundation, a progressive non-partisan public policy think
tank in New York that undertakes research across a range of issues
including education, inequality, workplace rights, privacy and
surveillance, and housing. Lucy moved to the United States from
Australia, where she worked in politics and government for a
number of years, most recently as Deputy Chief of Staff and
Communications Director to a state political leader in Sydney. She
loves taking complex issues, and making them simpler for
audiences to engage with and understand. Since moving to New
York Lucy has discovered a new passion for boxing, so look out! As
part of a community of female boxers, Lucy also volunteers at
boxing clinics to empower young women and girls. Through Coro
LNY, Lucy wants to help shift public policy debates and empower
low-income and marginalized communities to affect change.
Lynn Karam is the Founder and President of LEK Management,
Inc., a consulting company whose primary focus is small business
owners. Lynn works with small business owners developing
tailored solutions to their challenges, which lead to growth and
sustainability. In her financial career, Lynn has amassed extensive
experience in the areas of treasury, fixed income securities, project
management, personal finance and compliance. Lynn has formed a
not-for-profit education organization, The Institute for Financial
Education, that focuses on providing financial education to high
school students. She is also a member of Rotary International
where she has coordinated projects like “Thanksgiving Baskets” and
“Senior Engagement”. Lynn is the holder of a Master’s in Business
Administration from Baruch College. She considers herself an
advocate for small business owners and joined Coro LNY to find
ways of providing additional support to small business owners.

Matthew Sexton is a Project Manager with Consolidated Edison
Company of New York (Con Edison), one of the nation’s largest
investor owned utilities, providing electric, gas and steam service to
customers in New York City. He is the Project Manager for a
yearlong regulatory mandated Comprehensive Operations and
Management Audit of Con Edison. During his career he has held
positions of increasing responsibility in the Customer Operations
area of Con Edison. These included positions at Con Edison’s Call
Center, including Supervisor, Specialist and Call Center Manager, as
well as Manager of Process Improvement and Manager of Billing
and Payment corrections. He is a graduate of Baruch College, with a
BA in Financial Accounting and an MBA in Human Resource
Management. He has also completed the Villanova University Six
Sigma training. He joined Coro LNY to develop new ways to lead
change on education issues affecting New York City.
Michelle Mulcahy is a Program Director and Chief of Staff of the
New York City Office of Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. In this
role, Michelle provides strategic planning leadership across multiple
program areas, including affordable housing preservation, green
building and resiliency programs. Michelle also connects these
programmatic initiatives to capital solutions, helping to create new
resources for affordable housing development and preservation.
Michelle joined Coro LNY to further develop leadership skills and
interdisciplinary networks necessary to help create a more equitable
New York City. Previously, Michelle led Enterprise’s sustainability
work in Ohio and provided technical assistance to affordable
housing developers. Prior to joining Enterprise, Michelle worked at a
national policy and advocacy organization and a real estate
development consulting firm, both in Washington, D.C. Michelle has
a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from Cornell University and a
Master’s degree in City Planning from the University of
Pennsylvania.
Molly Hartman is a Senior Advisor for Food Policy in the Office of
the Mayor, where she works to advance the administration's agenda
to improve food security, improve access to healthy food, and further
build a more sustainable and just food system. Prior to serving in
the Mayor's Office, she was the director of the FRESH program at
NYCEDC, an initiative to encourage the development of
supermarkets in low-income neighborhoods. She has also worked at
Prevention Institute, a public health organization in Oakland, CA
and at a community development financial institution in NYC. She
has a Master in Public Policy degree from the University of Southern
California and a BA from the College of Social Studies at Wesleyan
University. Molly joined Coro LNY to learn to become a better
leader, collaborator, and communicator for social and economic
justice in New York City.

Nicholas Suplina serves as Senior Advisor and Special Counsel in
the Office of the New York State Attorney General. In that role, he
works on criminal justice reform, government ethics and
accountability, gun safety, financial fraud, and other issue areas
where law and policy intersect. He also works on leveraging data
and technology to better serve OAG constituencies and bring better
cases. He joined the office in 2011 as an assistant attorney general,
investigating and prosecuting frauds committed against the State of
New York. Prior to that, Nick was in the litigation department at the
law firm of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler where he focused on
internal investigations and government contracts fraud. Nick is a
fourth generation New Yorker who can’t fairly imagine a better City
to live in, but can imagine a fairer, better City. That’s why he so
pleased to be a part of Coro LNY.
Nicole Halsey has spent the past decade working in New York City
government managing programs that support youth and families.
She is currently the Director of Strategic Initiatives/Special Projects
at the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA).
Some of her recent projects include IDNYC, and the Mayor’s Action
Plan for Neighborhood Safety. Nicole began her career in city service
as a Special Assistant to the Commissioner of the NYC
Administration for Children’s Services, later serving as Deputy Press
Secretary before moving to the NYC Department of Juvenile Justice
as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Nicole is thrilled to be part
of Coro and hopes to learn different perspectives on how to develop
community-based solutions to issues affecting youth and families.
Nicole earned a Bachelor’s Degree from New York University in
journalism, and was a newspaper editor and reporter for several
years before earning a Master’s Degree in public policy from Baruch
College. Nicole lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant with her family and is an
avid baker, gardener, and undercover foodie.
Peter Hill is an Assistant Vice President for Strategic Planning at
the New York City Economic Development Corporation, where he
works to develop strategies that will help the city grow and thrive,
focusing in particular on the ways that the public and private sectors
interact. His projects have included a broad range of issues, from
workforce development and neighborhood strategies to resiliency,
broadband access, and tax incentives. Previously, Peter worked at
the nonprofit research and consulting firm Root Cause and in Latin
America for Amigos de las Américas, a youth leadership and
community development organization. He holds a BA from
Wesleyan University. Peter is interested in the ways that the public,
private, and nonprofit sectors can work together to address issues in
New York City. He joined Coro to gain a deeper understanding of the
challenges facing the city and the range of approaches for developing
solutions.

Rachel Orban is an Associate General Counsel in the Office of the
General Counsel at New York Life Insurance Company. Rachel
provides legal advice for all aspects of New York Life Real Estate
Investors’ real estate investment activities, including, commercial
mortgage finance and real estate equity purchases and sales. She has
effectively lead various projects within New York Life and has
participated in a number of company sponsored charitable and
diversity events. She is a graduate of State University of New York at
Albany and Pace University School of Law and is admitted to
practice law in NY, CT and MA. Rachel joined Coro LNY to develop
a deeper understanding of public policy issues in NYC and gain a
different perspective by working in a group setting to develop new
ways to promote policy change. She hopes to bring her legal and real
estate finance experience to benefit NYC in a variety of ways to make
the city an even better place to work and live. Having worked in the
private sector for some time, Rachel is excited about the opportunity
to enhance her civic footprint and to put in the time and diligence to
learn more about the city and have an impact on policy.
Rachel Van Tosh is an Assistant Commissioner at the NYC
Department of Small Business Services, where she leads programs
dedicated to capital access, business resiliency and business
education. Throughout her career, she has had various roles working
on industrial financing deals, creating programs for women
entrepreneurs, and developing urban neighborhoods.
Rachel holds a Bachelor's in Political Science from Haverford
College and a Master of City Planning from the University of
Pennsylvania. She is a native New Yorker and is excited to join Coro
LNY.
Rebecca Lynch is Director of Learning and Inclusion at
Consolidated Edison Company of NY, Inc., subsidiary of
Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the largest investor-owned energy
companies with approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and
$40 billion in assets. Rebecca oversees the technical training
strategy and portfolio for the company’s 14,000 employees that
includes a blend of instructor-led, simulation, eLearning, and
technology-based development programs. Her experience includes
leadership roles in customer operations’ mass market and corporate
customer segments, project management, and energy deregulation
and customer resolution as a liaison to NYS Department of Public
Service. Rebecca has a B.A. and M.B.A. from Pace University,
Registered Gas Distribution Professional certification and is a
member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Rebecca is a wife and mother of two
young daughters, and an advocate for education and affordable
energy. Rebecca joined LNY to develop new ways to lead change on
public issues affecting NYC.

Rob Cantave is a Senior Director for Solution Architecture at
Epsilon Data Systems, a global leader in turning data-driven
marketing on and offline. Rob currently leads a number of
engagements for key Epsilon clients, driving mixed teams of tech
and business resources to achieve client objectives. Rob is a veteran
of the technology and online marketing space with nearly twenty
years of success building and managing digital products and
experiences. Rob’s philanthropic interests include a passion for
education, the arts, and technology. He is a frequent donor and
organizer in these areas, and has often volunteered his time. He has
volunteered with Hands on Atlanta’s early childhood program, and
was a mentor for Streetwise Partners, an early career mentorship
program based in New York. He currently serves on the board of
TWIYO, “The World is Your Oyster,” a nonprofit aimed at providing
travel and enrichment activities for under-privileged and at-risk
primary and secondary school students.
Sarah Kalemkerian is a Teacher Recruitment Manager at the
NYC Department of Education, where she oversees the marketing,
recruitment, and selection of high-quality teacher candidates for the
NYC Teaching Fellows and NYC Teaching Collaborative programs.
Prior to joining the NYC DOE in 2011, Sarah was the Deputy Chief of
Staff in the Office of Special Education at DC Public Schools. Sarah
has fifteen years of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors
with significant work in recruitment, organizational development,
performance management, youth development, and program
management. She holds a BA from Rutgers College and an MPA
from The George Washington University. Sarah believes strongly in
education equality for all students and has focused the last seven
years working towards that goal. Sarah joined Coro to develop her
leadership skills while learning how the sectors work together to
improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
Sarah Najarian is Senior Manager of Governance and Board
Placement with Robin Hood, a poverty fighting organization focused
on NYC. Sarah connects talented individuals who are interested in
dedicating their time and skills to the boards of organizations funded
by Robin Hood. Sarah works closely with these organizations to
assess and prioritize their strategic board needs and develops
initiatives to strengthen their performance through trainings and
access to consulting support.
Sarah serves on the steering
committee for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Young Patrons
Circle and is a member of the Accion International President’s
Circle. Sarah holds an M.B.A. from Boston University and a B.A. in
Economics from Brandeis University. Sarah’s goal in participating in
Coro LNY is to build bridges between the varied communities in this
city in order to enable more New Yorkers to find common ground
and focus on what unites us instead of what divides us.

Sharon Polli is Deputy Executive Director of Groundswell, NYC’s
leading community public art organization, where she oversees dayto-day operations to ensure the successful engagement of 800 youth
and 65 community-based partners in the creation of 60 public
artworks annually. In the coming year Groundswell will launch its
first city-wide, five-borough collaboration with the New York City
Housing Authority (NYCHA). Prior to Groundswell, Sharon was
Director of Development for BRIC Arts|Media|Bklyn, a
multidisciplinary arts and media organization. During her time at
BRIC, Sharon worked with the Board and staff to get the
organization into a state of readiness for the opening of BRIC House,
a state-of-the-art arts and media center in the BAM Cultural District.
Sharon is a graduate of Carleton College. By participating in Coro
LNY, Sharon hopes to adapt and then recreate best practices from
diverse sectors in order to strengthen Groundswell’s impact on the
visual and civic landscape of NYC.
Tim Roberts is Director of Public Affairs and Communications at
Global Strategy Group. He spent a majority of the last decade as
Chief of Staff for Senator Squadron, and before him Council
Members Van Bramer and Yassky. Tim has represented large swaths
of the City – from Lower Manhattan to Western Queens to
Brownstone Brooklyn. Additionally, Tim was an integral part of two
citywide campaigns and runoffs, Yassky for Comptroller and
Squadron for Public Advocate. Prior to working in government, Tim
learned his organizing chops from two non-profits: The National
Gay and Lesbian Task Force and People For the American Way. He
looks forward to combining his experience in the non-profit,
government, and private sectors to create tangible, progressive
change in some of the areas he loves most, such as transportation,
open space, and education. Coro LNY will allow him to greatly
expand his network and achieve these goals.
Vanessa Youngs is an Analyst at Moody’s Investors Service in the
Public Finance Group focusing on ratings for local governments
along the east coast. She is a lead analysts in Pennsylvania and
Delaware, and mentors junior analysts on the team. Prior to joining
Moody’s, Vanessa was a White House Intern for the National
Economic Council and prior to her internship, she worked for the
New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget as a
Senior Revenue Analyst for four years. Vanessa received her Master
of Science, Urban Policy and Management from the New School
University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Economics
and Business from Lafayette College. Vanessa also sits on the Board
of Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA, the Career Advisory
Council at Lafayette College in Easton, PA and is an active member
of her church in Mount Vernon, NY.

Zach Gorin is a member of Edelman New York’s Corporate &
Public Affairs practice, specializing in developing and executing
communications campaigns for a broad spectrum of clients
including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and
public-private partnerships. Throughout his career in the private
sector, Zach has guided numerous partners in public policy and
advocacy, crisis management, and government relations in both
New York and Washington, D.C. In 2012, Zach served as primary
spokesperson for Senate Majority PAC, a Washington-based
SuperPAC supporting Democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate.
Zach joined Coro to challenge himself personally and professionally
by finding new and different ways to be of service to the greater
New York City area. He is interested in engaging a variety of
stakeholder groups to encourage private sector involvement in
pressing civic issues such as infrastructure, sustainability and
resiliency. Zach graduated from Bates College with a BA in Political
Science.
