Our 40 Night Comfort policy is valid for premium bedding ONLY. Star does ask that the
customer sleep on the bedding for a minimum of 30 nights so that they can adjust to the new
comfort. Refer to the Star Use & Care Guide for required “break-in” procedures and mattress
care. If still not satisfied up to the 40th night, Star will offer one exchange for a nominal
delivery charge.

BODY IMPRESSIONS
1. In the ordinary course of sleep set use, slight body impressions are normal and do not
indicate structural failure. They are only an indication that the upholstery layers are
settling and conforming to your individual body. That is why it is important that you rotate
your bedding regularly to keep the cushioning soft and resilient.
2. “Body Impressions” and “Sagging” are quite different. “Sagging” signifies a structural
problem in the mattress set. Lack of proper frame support or defect in the box spring are
the most common issues.
3. Similar household problems to “Body Impressions” include Plush carpeting which will
show footprints, and soft cushions which will require consistent fluffing up.
4. Today’s mattresses may have anywhere from 5 to 8 layers of upholstery padding. Initially
there is air between each layer, but as the mattress is slept on, the air will be forced out.
This creates a flatter mattress under the body sleeping area.
5. Innerspring mattresses made 10 years ago and older were typically 6” to 7” thick, i.e. 70%
coil, 30% padding. Today’s mattresses are 10” to 12” thick or more, i.e. 30% coil, 70%
padding. The old mattress was slept “on”. Today’s mattresses are slept “in”.
6. When a mattress starts showing a “Body Impression”, it means the mattress may need to
be rotated. Mattresses may be rotated to even out usage.
7. The biggest “Body Impression” issue is with the King Size. At 76”, the mattress width is
equivalent to two twin size beds. Invariably, nobody sleeps in the center of the mattress.
Because of this, the mattress often develops a “ridge” down the middle from head to foot.
Less than half a King Size mattress is actually used and slept on.
8. There are 3 types of mattresses made today. Firm, Plush, and Pillow top styles. Due
to the varieties of comfort, and the weight differences of the people sleeping on them,
it is very difficult to accurately indicate numerically what depth of “Body Impressions” is
acceptable. Every mattress will have somewhat of a body impression.
9. “Body Impressions” can be influenced by the support given by the box spring. An
incorrect metal bed frame or slat support under a 4-poster bed can cause problems.

CONCLUSION
When the bed is comfortable, giving good support, and offers a great night’s sleep, a “Body
Impression” can probably be lived with.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Do’s and Don’ts of Bedding Care
• DO rotate your mattress as needed, this will promote even wear.
• DO use an appropriate frame and center support on queen- and king-size sets to ensure
validation of your warranty.
• DO let your new sleep set “air” upon removal from its plastic packaging. Discard the
plastic wrapping on your mattress as soon as possible; a child or pet can become
entangled and suffocate.
• DO keep your bedding clean and use a mattress pad. Stains, soiling, fluid penetration or
other signs of abuse may void the warranty and make your bedding ineligible for repair or
replacement.
• DO replace the foundation when purchasing a new mattress to provide the proper support
for your new mattress.
• DO carry your mattress upright on its side. It is easier to handle and less likely to damage
the mattress. If you need to store your mattress for an extended period, please store it
flat.
• DO promptly dispose of old mattresses to avoid a fire hazard.
• DON’T remove the law tag at the end of your mattress as this has the identification
needed to establish your warranty rights.
• DON’T bend excessively or jump on your mattress under any circumstances. Such
treatment may damage the mattress or boxspring. Normal use on an adjustable base is
permitted.
• DON’T use cleaning fluids on your mattress. The chemicals may damage some of the
materials.
• DON’T allow your mattress to get wet. Any liquids, water or other fluids may damage
upholstery causing materials to compress. Serta recommends that you protect your
mattress from water and other liquids with a water proof mattress pad.

SERTA LIMITED WARRANTY
Because we strongly believe in the quality design and craftsmanship of our products,
Serta products are warranted against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material
(excluding covers and handles).
If you observe a defect, contact the Serta dealer from which you purchased the set.
If the dealer cannot be reached, please contact Serta Customer support at
888-550-SERTA. In either case, you must, within the duration of the warranty, provide
the original law tags, proof of purchase (including date of purchase) and be the
original purchasing consumer.
Your Serta mattress and/or foundation will be repaired or replaced (at our option) with
charges, as shown on the Serta Warranty Schedule and exclusive of transportation and
inspection costs.
All other claims including incidental or consequential damages are precluded. If identical
materials are not available at the time of repair or replacement, the manufacturer reserves
the right to substitute materials of equal quality. Serta reserves the right to refuse service and
invalidate the warranty when, upon inspection, the sleep set is found to be in an unsanitary
condition (due to stains, soiling or other abuse) or when the product failure is caused by
factors other than defective workmanship or materials.
Any and all implied warranties on this product shall not exceed in duration the term of this
limited warranty. The warranty begins on the day you purchase your sleep set. If your sleep
set is repaired or replaced, this limited warranty will not be renewed or extended. Please
refer to the Serta Warranty Schedule on the card to determine the length of your warranty.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages
or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation or exclusion may
not apply.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights, which vary from
state to state.
This warranty is given by the Serta manufacturer whose name and address appear on the
law tag attached to your Serta product.
We recommend that you retain the tags and examine the law tag attached to your Serta
product and record the name and address of the Serta manufacturer and your warranty code
on the warranty card.
Your Serta mattress meets or exceeds State and Federal Fire Retardant Standards when
used either by itself or with a specified foundation.
This warranty does not apply to products used in hotels, motels or institutional facilities.

The Serta Warranty covers only the following items during normal wear:
MATTRESS:
• Wires that are loose, broken or protruding through the fabric
• Sagging that measures 1½” or greater, only if the mattress has been continuously
supported by a matching foundation (or equivalent) and used with an appropriate frame
and center support, or a minimum of 5 cross slats w/ center support that extends to the
